Common Questions and Answers about Dry skin makeup

Avatar f tn What makeup is good for some who has allergies in there eyes and had keratoconus?
Avatar f tn Too much soapy water, exposure to harsh chemicals, the normal aging process and certain types of skin diseases are some of the causes of decreased amounts of protective skin oils which in turn causes dry skin. The mainstay of management is liberal use of moisturizers after washing with luke warm water. Soap should be used minimally. Moisturizers should be reapplied liberally during the day.You can also use a topical cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment like dermacort(hydrocortisone).
Avatar f tn The vitamin e cream works to take away the dryness of my skin however if i don't use it i cant even wear makeup since my skin remains to dry to do so. Im not sure what to do.

Avatar n tn I need help! Until recently I have always used powder makeup, but I decided to give liquid foundation a try. I purchased cover girl smoothers foundation. Applies great and I'm happy with it. The whole time I was wearing it, no problem. The problem comeswhen I take it off. I scrub my face clean using the same stuff I always use. Clean and clear pads, I use toner sometimes, clean and clear cream, and facial moisturizer. All that stuff has never given me ANY trouble.
Avatar m tn Plus I'm suffering a bit with dry skin on my on my cheekbone next to my nose. What moisturiser is best? I'm using a QV one at the moment.
Avatar f tn I have REALLY dry skin around my mouth. The corners of my mouth are also cracked and they hurt! It looks like my face has been sunburned and my face is peeling but just in that one area (around my mouth)and it NEVER goes away! I've tried putting neosporin, mousturizer, lotion, anti-itch cream, burts bees chapstick and bactriban on it. I wash my face everyday w/ water and a washcloth but it still just won't go away.
Avatar f tn It is so bad that I can't even wear make up because in the really dry areas the makeup goes orange/bronze. It is scaly and also spreading only my eyelids. I've tried everything, moisturizers, exfoliating, facial masks, drinking plenty of water, etc. and nothing is helping, it sems to be getting worse. Its horrible. Please someone help.
544468 tn?1225200966 I am 15 and have had extremely dry, flaky skin and bad eczema for the past 7 years. I visited a dermatology paediatrician for a few years but that didn't help. I have tried herbal medicines, diets, creams, ointments and washes. Nothing will get rid of this very dry skin allover my face, particularly around my cheeks and mouth. I do wear makeup but only on my eyes; I never wear foundations that could be drying out my skin. I use special sensitive washing powders and soaps.
6726276 tn?1421130268 I haven't worn make up in years - just got out of the habit. My mother wore makeup like a kabuki mask and I suspect I'm reacting to that. In the 19th century nice women didn't paint their faces. I will say that my skin is in pretty good shape - and as long as my dear husband is happy, I don't see the problem with not wearing make up.
Avatar n tn I have this redish, dry skin above my eye and its somewhat itchy. Theres also a small bit of it by the corner of my eye, it kinda looks like a have a black eye; somewhat. Well compared to my other eye..anyway. Its been there a while about a month and a half? Long time I know but it started out small, just as a small patch in the middle and kinda "spread"? to all the skin above my eye.
Avatar f tn What is the best product to use? I also have problem skin in general. When I apply makeup it looks dry/caked on & just plain gross. Any ideas on what could help?
Avatar f tn Hello, Dry skin results when there is not enough water in the stratum corneum for it to function properly. Too much soapy water, exposure to harsh chemicals, the normal aging process and certain types of skin diseases are some of the causes of decreased amounts of protective skin oils which in turn causes dry skin. The mainstay of management is liberal use of moisturizers after washing with luke warm water. Soap should be used minimally and instead of that use Cetaphil.
Avatar m tn I have had terrible dry, flakey, irritated skin around like eyes, mouth, forehead and on my eyelids for weeks now. I went to my regular Dr. and he prescribed Elocon cream. It seems like it is drying my face out even worse then before. I am not using any new makeup, facewash or soaps. I am 31 yrs old and very healthy. This is just driving me crazy! I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser and moisturize with Cetaphil face lotion.
Avatar n tn I have had dry, swollen, cracked, peeling skin on my eyelids which has become progressively worse over 7 years. Have been prescribed cortisone but only is an overnight cure. Is this exceme? or psoriasis? or allergies? How can I get over this??? HELP!!!
1587585 tn?1309435860 I have a question about a problem I'm having on my face. I over-exfoliated my face (used a washcloth and Neutragena Oil Free Acne Wash) 2 days in a row. I noticed after washing my face yesterday my skin was dry, red, irritated, and had a bumpy "orange peel" texture to it. Now I have pinhead sized whiteheads all over my cheeks, forehead, and chin. How do I fix my skin? What kind of facial cleanser should I use until this heals? What type of moisturizer?
1592008 tn?1297121666 What could this be and what should I do? I can't wear makeup or anything because the skin is so flaky you can see the makeup attached to flakes... The picture i added is me post-peel. You can see my skin peeling off in chunks.
Avatar f tn I haven't had this problem before which is why it's baffling to me. I tried to scrub it to get the dry skin to flake off so I could at least apply makeup (I have some purple color under the eyes and need makeup to go out in public), but by the end of the day it was peeling again....
561949 tn?1236777715 It is an allergic condition that makes your skin dry and itchy. Eczema cannot be cured, but you can prevent some types of eczema by avoiding irritants, stress and the things you are allergic to. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It's been over a month and my eyelids are still burning if touched too much or irritated. They also have bumps and dry skin on them. I don't know what in the wipes caused it but does anyone know how I could heal my eyelids? I've gone without makeup for weeks at a time, that didn't help. I've tried different name brand wipes, including simple sensitive skin, but nothing helps and my eyelids still burn like crazy.

Avatar n tn Hello, About a month ago I developed severe, severe dry skin on my eyelid in the area that I apply eyeliner and on the outer area under my eyes. I feel that it may have been a result of the makeup remover wipes that Iwas using, although they said that they were hypoallergenic. I used a night cream on the area both day and night and it helped to a certain degree and i stopped using the facial wipes.
Avatar f tn Hello hope you are doing well. Use of heavy makeup and cosmetics can lead to dry itchy skin. The skin can start peeling. Underlying skin conditions, dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis are few other causes related to these symptoms. I will advise you to consult a dermatologist or an ophthalmologist who specializes in dermatological issues. Your doctor may prescribe topical medications to stop flaky peeling skin. If there is any doubt of infection antibiotics may also be given.
Avatar f tn I put a lot of the eczema therapy lotion on it and then 30 mins later I wiped it off and applied my makeup, when I applied my makeup I noticed that my skin above my upper lip looked dry and flaky once again. So I used my exfoliating wipes and got the flakyness off and took all my makeup off. I then applied a thin layer of my lotion and put my makeup on again but this time it made that little dry patch a slight orange color.
