Common Questions and Answers about Dry skin between fingers

Avatar n tn Short periods of intense rubbing can cause a blister, but any rubbing of the skin at all can cause a blister if it is continued for long enough. Blisters form more easily on moist skin than on dry or soaked skin, and are more common in warm conditions. Sometimes, the skin can blister when it comes into contact with a cosmetic, detergent, solvent or other chemical; this is known as contact dermatitis. Blisters can also develop as a result of an allergic reaction to an insect bite or sting.
Avatar f tn I have a cream for it but i was wondering if i could put something like cotton balls between his fingers while he is at school to help keep the affected area dry so the yeast will not get any worse. It's bad enough having an 8 yr. old boy with a wrist fracture but to have a yeast infection on the same hand is TOO much!
Avatar f tn I'm almost 10 weeks and a little over a week ago the tops of both hands are extremely dry... I've never had dry skin before and it's so bad now my hands are in a lot of pain...
Avatar n tn Every time it starts to heal, however, and look better, it begins itching very badly and I end up peeling/scratching off the flaky skin. After peeling off this flaky, dry skin, a red type of lesion appears underneath where I peeled the skin. The lesion has a type of glossy look to it, and it is red. The lesions do not hurt, unless they rub against my boxers, and then it causes some slight pain. The lesions do not bleed, but they appear to be very wet and feel wet.
Avatar m tn Hello, Pompholyx presents as itchy , small dry blisters on the palms and fingers rather than an oozing painful blister. It can be due to a bacterial skin infection or viral infection like herpes which can present as herpetic whitlow. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Recently, the skin on the fingers of both of my hands has been flaking and peeling. It starts with my fingertips and is especially bad on the sides of my index fingers. It has been going on for several months. I have always had VERY dry skin on my hands and feet but never problems like this. My feet are peeling as well. Moisturizers help but do not alleviate the problem no matter how much or how often I apply.
Avatar m tn Doctor - please help. I get painful calcified skin between my toes, fingers, and bottom of feel (especially heels) It is very thick and when I try to scrape it down it is very white and i can see a small white dot that feels like it is my nerve. I could shave it - especially my heel - and very quickly would fill a bag. Lotion doesn't help, shaving it down ends up leaving my "nerve" exposed and bloody - but i don't know what else to do.
Avatar n tn No one is able to figure me out. I have been plagued by dry skin my entire life. It started to get worse two years ago. I also noticed at that time my face has gotten redder, especially when I get in a warm environment. Also, I have trouble perspiring. In the winter I run on my tread mill for a half hour and just get a red face and hot feeling. In summer I perspire very little. My heart just races and my face gets redder and I get a head ache.
Avatar m tn Last night my ankles and in between my fingers just randomly started itching. As I scratched to relieve itching I started o notice bumps that looked like poison ivy along with redness. The only thing is my dog has been scratching a lot the last couple days and she sleeps in my bed with me. They don't look big enough to be flea bites but I'm no expert. My family has a history of having skin issues if this could make a difference. My brother has psoriasis and my dad has alapecia areotta (sp).
Avatar n tn I have had dry, swollen, cracked, peeling skin on my eyelids which has become progressively worse over 7 years. Have been prescribed cortisone but only is an overnight cure. Is this exceme? or psoriasis? or allergies? How can I get over this??? HELP!!!
Avatar f tn Well, your description above is definitely consistent with my own experience (on my fingers and right palm). I would find that after spending time in either a chlorinated pool or (the best long term, albeit ultimately temporary, "cure" - therefore, "Treatment" would be the more accurate description) the naturally salinated water of the ocean, that the affected areas of my skin would first turn white, then dry & flaky, eventually peeling off like a bad sunburn.
Avatar n tn Hello, Such kind of peeling of fingers and hands can be due to dry skin, contact dermatitis or eczema. Sometimes fungal infections can also cause such symptoms. He should use mild hand wash and soaps like Dove. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.

Avatar n tn 'Blisters are usually caused by injury to the skin from heat or from friction, which create a tear between the epidermis—the upper layer of the skin—and the layers beneath. Short periods of intense rubbing can cause a blister, but any rubbing of the skin at all can cause a blister if it is continued for long enough. Avatar m tn I've been taking Terbinafine tablets and applying terbinafine cream, and it's been slowly improving. But I think the rash has spread to my fingers. The area between my fingers and near my nails is very dry and crusty, sometimes giving off a transparent liquid. There are small bumps on my fingers as well, and there's a constant urge to itch. Its been there for the past 3 days.
Avatar m tn For eight or nine years I have had a progressing condition with the skin on the palm and fingers of my left hand only. It started with a very small, dry, blister-like patch of dry, cracking, peeling skin in the center of the pad on the end of my index finger, and over time has slowly spread down that finger to my palm, thumb, middle finger and has begun to move up my ring finger.
Avatar n tn I found this a little odd because I am left handed. All the skin in between my fingers is extremely dry rough and flakey. I have had this for about a year and hope it doesn't get worse. I have been told by doctors it is multiple things before, dry skin, sensitive skin, scabies, eczema, that I touched something that I'm allergic to. I have reicved different creams for the different things they thought it was.
Avatar n tn They cluster at the joints of my knuckles, mostly on the inside of my hand and between my fingers. Its so painful for me to bend my fingers and move my hand. I work in a laboratory and wearing tight fitting gloves for long hours and pipetting is becoming increasingly more difficult. At first I thought they were from something that I had touched, like a newly flowered bush outside my apartment, but even after I started avoiding it they continue to appear.
Avatar m tn I am having cuts and whitening of the creases of my fingers on the palmar side with dry skin. Also whitening of creases of part of the palm (just below the fingers) and of skin in between fingers. Any good cream/ointment or remedy for above?
Avatar n tn Unnaturally so I'm afraid to admit, never had dry skin and I don't look forward to the prospect of having it...one thing though, I beg to differ with my pals Jim and Goof, I personally wouldn't use petro-chemical products like Vaseline, even though it might work some...hate to take issue with you guys! But if you want to throw down, let's go! See my fists in the air, whop! blam! he he he! I'll try this new stuff once I look it up!
Avatar f tn Intertrigo is irritation of touching skin surfaces in body fold regions such as the armpits, under the breasts, belly, buttocks, groin, and sometimes between fingers or toes. The smell and pus may be worsened by any conditions causing increased heat, wetness, and friction. This may also be complicated by superficial skin infection with yeast or bacteria. Have this evaluated further for proper management.
Avatar n tn Like right now I'm suffering with dry darker skin between my legs. Well not both of my thighs, but the left side suddenly became dry and dark. I tend to scratch a lot too. I can't help it. I know some people already discuss this and asked what can do about it, but is there a an easy remedy that would just make it go away? Thanks!.
Avatar m tn And on the side of the fingers closest to the thumb, I guess with nervous habits or something, I've ended up peeling the skin deep enough for what skin is there to look deep red. My dad said it was just dry skin and Corn Husker's lotion would help but I'm skeptical it may be a type of fungus or something I may have gotten from the tree, but that makes me ask "Why just the forefingers?" Any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Over the past couple of years, I have developed skin rashes on my hands, between fingers, bottoms of my feet, groin, and most recently my arm pits. I have used anti-fungals with some success, but not much. What can cause this condition?
Avatar m tn But i did notice the skin in between my fingers was peeling, and later when i got home i noticed my scrotum was also very dry skin and crackley. i have never experienced this before on any body part and my skin is very well kept and i have never had any skin problems EVER! Can someone please explain what this is and how i can get rid of it?! I am guessing i have to stay away from any sexual actions?
502065 tn?1329191119 Right i've been getting really bad dry skin between my fingers, all i've been using is hand cream (which i have been using for a long time now) but i recently used new soap and i have also noticed 2 red bits on my finger also a dark mole looking thing which i've never noticed until now. I'm not worried its just really irritating and uncomfortable i've been using sudacreme to try and soothe it which it has been doing.
Avatar m tn Blisters are most common on the hands and feet, as these extremities are susceptible while walking, running, or performing repetitive motions. Blisters form more easily on moist skin than on dry or soaked skin, and are more common in warm conditions. Sometimes, the skin can blister when it comes into contact with a cosmetic, detergent, solvent or other chemical; this is known as contact dermatitis. Avatar n tn At the tips of my fingers just before the nail starts, the skin peels up. I think it is becasue its dry but i use lotion and everything. The peelingskin is very painful and often bleeds if i pul them off.
Avatar m tn i have the same thing - i'm in week 10 same dose as you. i remember my nurses saying dry skin was a sx of tx, so i have been very dilagent about moisturizing my face and body with a "heavier" lotion then i normally would use - but found i still had dry cracked skin in corners of my mouth. then i remembered somthing i used to use for my kids (recommended by our beach lifeguards) when they got really dry, crakced lips from the ocean.
