Drugs that kill brain cells

Common Questions and Answers about Drugs that kill brain cells

Avatar n tn BUT SOMETHING is definetly blocking my natural good vibes. So, drugs ARE constantly ******* up my brain cells while I figure out how to stay "happy". There is a science to this, and then there are the ones that just have the faith and willpower to change. I'm confused and I want to be clean. that i do know in my heart. my head just won't do it. I lie like a dog to get what I want (NEED, my brain says) and spend money I don't have....such really poor decisions...
Avatar n tn Chemotherapy attempts to destroy tumor cells using chemicals (drugs) that are designed to destroy specific types of cancer cells. All treatments attempt to spare normal brain cells. Other treatments that may be part of some treatment plans may include hyperthermia (heat treatments), immunotherapy (immune cells directed to kill certain cancer cell types), or steroids to reduce inflammation and brain swelling.
Avatar m tn goes on in the brain, the things that makes us modern humans. Once you kill or damage brain cells, they are forever gone; BUT sometimes new neuro pathways can be made to get around the injury, which can happen all by itself or through therapy for the parts of the brain that aren't functioning very well at the moment. As for future brain injury or changes that might happen if you continue drinking and drugging, I CAN tell you one little thing about it that may sort of answer your question.
3229560 tn?1347041110 High B12 is unusual but there are a few things that can cause this. One is polycythemia vera which is when you body makes too much blood cells. They then have to remove blood on a regular basis. Also, cirrhosis of the liver due to Hepatitis, alcholism, and any liver problem could make your B12 high. Leukemia can also do this certain types but then your White blood cells usually are high not low. Have you been checked for Hepatitis B and C? Have you had any exposure to Heptatiis that you know of?
333672 tn?1273796389 Of course, this is another thing that goes wrong in MS when the blood-brain barrier is breached, allowing errant T cells and B cells into the CNS. Microglia are neurotoxic and can kill oligodendrocytes in MS, but may also have a neuroprotective role (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19409897) 4. ASTROCYTES.
Avatar m tn Pornpun Vivithanaporn exposed an hepatitis C protein to glial cells, the structural cells of the brain, and discovered that it is possible to infect them. The infected cells also release toxic factors that can potentially damage neurons. The findings are important because of the number of HIV patients that contract hepatitis C as well.
233616 tn?1312790796 mb In laymanese it means the interferon itself cuts the livers capacity to handle other drugs way down which IS WHY looking for drugs that don't tax the P450 family makes the most sense.
18954 tn?1314301717 As we age and undergo the diseases of life and our lifestyle our brain changes. We loose neurons and the cells that myelinate the neuronal axons that travel down the brain into our bodies also die. On an MRI, this would be indicated by white matter changes in the periventricular region of the brain. The loss of neurons and brain cells would cause the ventricles to slightly enlarge to compensate for the loss of brain matter.
Avatar f tn I have read that long term use of alcohol/drugs can shrink the brain & cause permanent brain damage. How long is long term use? Anyone know for sure if opiates cause brain damage? I’m really curious about how the brain has been affected by opiates. For me, after 2.5 years straight on oxys, I had serious inability to concentrate & focusing issues and I had very impaired memory as a result…..I also was becoming paranoid, and I knew my thought process was not accurate.
163305 tn?1333672171 Effects on the Brain The active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, acts on cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors, but other areas of the brain have few or none at all. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.
Avatar f tn I tried Vicodin but got tired of being nausea, Then I was on Butalbital and that was worse-didnt help the pain. Now I have pain on the right side (tumor was left frontal). I had to start the Vicodin again to ease the pain but have to tolerate the nausea. How do you know if your brain is swelling? So many questions and no answers....
Avatar m tn You seem to want to grasp at any straw that comes along to support this theory of yours. I don't deny that this is possible...that mutated HCV cells in the brain CAN cause an impact...but there really truly is hardly enough information in this particular excerpt to call this fact. The only thing this bit of information allows is for us to entertain it as a possibility. Considering that HCV can cause havoc with other organs and systems in our body, not beyond the realm of possibility.
Avatar m tn then the meds go chasing after the virus (passing the blood brain barrier too???) and kill some brain cells on their path. It's called collateral damage. Go figure.... Over 1 1/2 years passed tx, I'm still not back to normal. Gotta find a way to regenerate some of that gray matter.
Avatar m tn GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that many microvermin can program your cells to produce. In particular, toxoplasma can do this, and I theorize that other microbes that we've come to know as stealth pathogens can do so. You want Salvia officinalis, not the stuff you get at the grocery store. An alcohol extract would contain more thujone than tea as the thujone is alcohol soluble. Van Gogh liked thujone containing stuff.
Avatar f tn I believe it was some form of bronchitis. At least that is what the symptoms were like. I had the heavy cough that made all parts of my body hurt. Some of the symptoms continue to linger. If I get the dry cough a few times, I take a cough drop "ricola" and stop it. The last 4 or 5 nights I was able to sleep. Before that, I would wake up coughing after less than an hour on my side. Then I spent the night sitting up and sleeping. It was better than no sleep.
Avatar n tn From what I've read, Demodex mites live in the pores of the face, feeding on the oils. Seabuckthorn oil will kill these. You can get a soap and a lotion made by "Face Doctor" that contains seabuckthorn oil. (I found the products at Amazon.com.) Also, taking Omega-3's in the form of fish oil will help the complexion. It acts to reduce inflammation, and is one of the supplements that is highly recommended by doctors who treat Lyme.
Avatar n tn Hello, you said you were addicted to alcohol? Xanax is in a class of drugs called Benzodiazapines which are similar to the effects of alcohol..so it is very possible to be addicted to xanax even if you were not taking it very long..Also you should never take any medication a "friend" gives you..you need to be treated by a doctor for anxiety..also you said you were addicted too marijuana?? that could be one of the causes of the anxiety that is one of the side effects of using marijuana.
Avatar m tn Blocking your body’s natural production of them with statin drugs is not a good idea. Brain cells are weakened by statins, as every brain cell has a naturally higher level of cholesterol in its cell membrane so it can live longer (brain cells do not split and divide like other cells). Thus, super high levels of statins are immune toxic, cripple your body’s natural cancer defense system, and weaken nerves.
Avatar n tn My 2 cents is that it doesn't matter whether you use a natural poison or a man-made poison, anything we put into our bodies to kill either cells, virus, bateria is a poison. We all have our choices. And each one of us have made the choice. No one has the right to make you feel your choice is wrong. Please let us be and let us support ourselves and if you don't like what we are doing just leave.
Avatar f tn It is found in the junction of nerve (synapse) cells that allow these cells to communicate with one another. This thyroid hormone also regulates the levels and actions of serotonin, noradrenalin, and GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid), now accepted as the main chemical transmitters implicated in both depression and some anxiety disorders. Maintaining normal serotonin and noradrenalin levels in the brain depends to a great extent on whether the correct amount of T3 is available.
233616 tn?1312790796 there is a great deal of research now into whether this is a key to most autoimmune stuff, and Merck and others have come up with several oral secetouges (drugs that stimulate production of GH) The trouble now is, it's expensive because the only REAL known treatment is the injection of the actual hormone, a 191 chain protein, very delicate, and the cost is 800-1200 per month.
408795 tn?1324939275 Depending on what information you gather, you may decide that you want to wait for better drugs that make may potentially make treatment shorter. It all depends. For me, the impact of HCV on my life in various ways and the potential impact was such that I wanted to treat sooner than later. That's all we can do .. is learn as much about our own variables as we can and then, after considering them, go ahead. I had different variables than you ...
Avatar n tn Benign does mean no cancer, but when you are talking about tumors that are 1 mm, it takes a direct hit with the Fine Needle Biopsy to get any cancer cells. Think of the ball end of a writing pen, then think of hitting that in the neck with a very small needle...kind of a "needle in a haystack" moment. If they do not strike the small tumor directly, they will not get cancer cells. Apparently, benign follicular cells look exactly like cancerous cells...
Avatar m tn For example, mercury tends to enter cells having a lot of fat. The brain, being composed of 60 percent fat, is especially at risk. Most pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides accumulate in fatty tissues and tend to settle in the bones. Fluoride builds up in the brain, thyroid, and bones. Once in these storage sites, they can remain for decades or even a lifetime.
886824 tn?1253740254 Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a nervous system disorder that affects your brain and spinal cord. It is widely thought that MS is an autoimmune condition and results from an autoimmune attack on myelin, the material that surrounds and protects the nerve cells. This attack damages the myelin, which in turn slows down or blocks messages between your brain and the body causing the symptoms of MS. The causes of MS are largely unknown.
Avatar n tn It has long been believed that it does not metastasize to the brain - however in recent years - women living longer are developing brain mets. One school of thought believes that platinum and taxane drugs maybe weakening the blood brain barrier but that does not explain every instance.
1796826 tn?1503243419 Well, in an ideal world, you make sure they have a source for clean drugs of a predictable strength, clean needles, and you make that access contingent upon them becoming experts in the safe administration of those drugs. Make sure they have Narcan in their kit and if they feel the need to take a big dose they do it with a buddy. That would knock out a huge majority of the ODs. Provide them with a path out of addiction, if they wish to take it.
650913 tn?1224283369 and my prescriptions for nausea and pain were suppose to be filled today and it took my sister 30 mins to finally get someone with enough brain cells to get another doctor from the office to look at my file and call in my medications.
4522800 tn?1470329434 I know it is her addict brain thinking and out of control, but to be honest she is so so so spun that I do not think she even has any Brian cells left. If she does, she has 2 brain cells left and they do not like each other. Well it does hurt me bad but I must move on and stay away forever. Anyway we have been talking about going to church more with in the week. I have to drive into town about 20-40 minutes to get to it all.
Avatar f tn every day for about a year and a half and yes it did kill my brain cells ugh... but i really wanna stop smoking for my baby bc i want it to be healthy along with cigarettes.
