I agree with the other ladies, I like how it was spelled with the pronunciation, Keevah. But when she starts school I know most teachers will make notes when saying names for the first time or ask what they are normally called so they can do that so they won't mispronounce her name. I have a friend whose name is spelled Yury, but pronounced Yudy. I don't think it matters how you spell it if you say it to someone they'll know. I like the other name too!

I think we have our names set too but NO idea on the middle names. We have these names but havent even opened a baby book yet! Taylor & Alexis (my choice) or Taylor & Madison (his choice) I like Taylor Ann and Taylor Lynn but have no idea on middle names for the other names. Any suggestions ladies?

I think that if some kid wants to tease Diquai on the playground, he's going to either get called Dyke or Daquiri. There are other good D names that won't open the door to automatic teasing and enquiries about pronunciation.

I really like Irish names, particularly ones that are not used much any more, even here in Ireland. My friend's little girl is named Fia and it means 'deer' or 'wild thing'. I also love Saoirse (meaning freedom), Gráinne (a derivative of the word of love), Roisín (meaning little rose) Reiltín (means little star) and Aoife. You'll have to look up pronunciation of all of these online, as the Irish language has a completely different set of pronunciation rules to English.

Some names are a little tricky to spell or pronounce, but you are picking a pretty standard well-recognized name and creating a completely unexpected pronunciation of it. I think your daughter will have to go through life continuously correcting people on how to say her name. In any language, the name Jeanette starts with either a hard J or soft J sound.

Both are very attractive names. Where are you going to raise the children? I think that unless you are going to live in a country where the most common spelling of Sebastian is Sevastian, your son will be irritated at having to constantly correct people, as everyone will hear it as "Sebastian." Your call, though.

This is my 3rd child (2nd daughter) and I keep bouncing between two names. Shockingly my husband also likes both, which only makes the decision harder. Our top names are: Eloise (Joy?) I agree with huluhutgirl on the pronunciations - it really depends on your intentions. From experience I encourage you to choose a name that isn't confusing or requires constant correction in spelling or pronunciation. As a recipient of such a name, it's frustrating even after all these years.

First of all, sorry for my poor English. I have some question about HIV test. I asked my doctor about the method of HIV and aks her is it EIA? She said yes. She spoke the whole name of the method. Pronunciation was like "en-ter-tise" blood test....Is that kind of EIA? One more thing, do all the clinics have license to do HIV tests?

I think if you are planning to call her something as pretty & unique as Lyric already is, the spelling change may be unnecessary & cause pronunciation problems throughout her life. Just my opinion though. I do like the name Lyric Yvette though-it flows nicely & isn't common enough that there will be multiple Lyrics in her class, but not so outlandish as to cause her to be teased-any more than children tease anyway.

It is pretty, though you might find the Luhnae pronunciation will be difficult for people to guess at first reading. (I would have had less trouble with how to pronounce it if it had been spelled Lanae.) Anyway, the classics for middle names or nice, or the really outre, like Zora and Calia.

It sounds like you don't like the name 100% but feel obliged to use it. Maybe in that case, you would be able to use it as the middle name and not the first name? Then the spelling wouldn't matter that much. I am not too big on giving a kid a name that is said in the usual way and trying to make it "clever" or "unique" by changing the spelling.
