Avatar m tn I've never taken it, but these are side effects you can get from almost any antidepressant. I'd probably listen to your endocrinologist. But you have to taper off this med slowly, not just quit, if you decide to do that. One of the problems a lot of people have is taking drugs for their side effects. Trazadone isn't a sleep remedy, but it had the unwanted side effect of making people very sedated.

Avatar n tn Xanax in the benzo class of drugs is addictive because it depresses the central nervous system quickly and wears off quickly due to its short half life. Each time it wears off, your nervous system attempts to get back to normal by speeding up. This speeding up process causes rough side effects which can only be relieved by taking another dose.
Avatar n tn s nervous system is divided into two major systems; the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The peripheral nervous system is also divided into two major parts, the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system consists of peripheral nerve fibers that send sensory information to the central nervous system and motor nerve fibers that send signals to skeletal muscle.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a nervous system imbalance called Dysautonomia in 2005. At the time my main problem (and the only symptom I really noticed) was a SEVERE sensitivity to the effects of ALL drugs and herbs. I do NOT mean an allergic reaction. Instead, it was that I experienced the ENORMOUSLY exaggerated effects of whatever herb or medicine it was, even by consuming the smallest amount!!!! And it was not in my head. It was never a sensitivity to foods or anything else. Only medicinal things.

Avatar n tn I do smoke cigarettes and have coffee every day, which may also increase these side effects. I am nervous for my health, but do realize that for the most part I never get these tics or nervousness in my heart. My heart rate usually does not increase and I do not have shortness of breath.

Avatar f tn Narcotic analgesics block the transmission of pain signals by binding to the opioid receptors in the central nervous system. The actions in the central nervous system are also responsible for side effects such as sedation, respiratory depression and intoxication. Using narcotic analgesics for a long time increases the risk of dependence. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn Several others caused unplesant side effects. Anyway, she prescribed Flecainide. I did get the rx filled and then read the literature. Says it can cause heart rythm irregularities and a host of other bad effects and then I got my Best Pills Worst Pill book out and that has a big warning box on it. Class 1 drugs should be reserved for patients with life threatening rhythm of the ventricles. I have atrial tach.
Avatar m tn One of Concerta's side effects is the loss of appetite or reduced appetite. It is a central nervous system stimulant and is released through out the day. Sounds like the effects of the Concerta wearing off towards the end of the day? Have you talked to her Dr about how she is responding at home? I will give you a link that I use often for drugs on ADHD and Cancer. It's very user friendly and they keep it very simple to get around.
