Avatar f tn The phrase 'Triple Goitre' was very common way back then. Was even used through the 1960's. It is actually as smilerdeb says a reference to the thyroid being approximately 3 times larger than normal. Not that it has 3 goitres!
Avatar m tn Sub is not even any closer to a wonder drug than methadone is...... its simply another - albeit a good one - tool to use. And the stuff is all over the place as far as Physician competence in both prescribing and quiting the sub is concerned. Do plenty of homework before you tout it too far.
1438412 tn?1315507919 Crazymamma: ECT is the safest of all psychiatric treatments during pregnancy according to what I've seen. It is because it uses less medication than daily drugs. It is just the IV and enough medication to put you to sleep for a few minutes. Of course do the research yourself, but this is what I found recommended most in books and on websites. Finsright I am really happy ECT is working for you. Nexus Sometimes in research of this type you find what you are looking for.
603726 tn?1223919660 it is addictive and calms you down; it's a rather "old" tranquilizer. I have taken it in the past - maybe in the 1960's and 70's. I think other than getting "loaded" on it by taking too much, there aren't many side effects.
Avatar m tn Do amalgam fillings pose a Mercury toxicity of other health problem(s) that would warrant their removal? I don't know the exact chemical make up of mine, but I'm sure they are composed of whatever the most common material was in the late 1960's, when they were "installed." What material is used today?
637356 tn?1301924822 Several articles in the past few years have analyzed Democratic and Republican administrations, comparing standard measures of national economic health - production, unemployment, inflation, the stock market, etc. - and standard measures of government efficiency - amount of Federal spending, number of Federal employees, deficit reduction, etc.
460185 tn?1326077772 The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in the mid 1960's. (by some woman) It refers to the Friday after Thanksgiving as be the busiest (Christmas) shopping day of the year in the U.S., therefore giving retailers a profit and putting them in the "black".
Avatar n tn Neurology time is slower than normal time. Many of us take years for an answer. There are about 800 neurological disorders and over 30 MS mimics. It is not easy being in limbo. I was lucky I grew up with MS and thought it was normal to have double vision, vertigo, left side weakness, cognitive issues and pain. I was sent to neurological clinics several times in childhood in the 1960's, on into the 1970's, they just figure brain damage.
Avatar f tn I had MS probably at age 2 by 6 there is no doubt. They did not think children could get MS in the 1960's. Two was my first hospitalization for Neurologic symptoms. Neurologists and other Doctors knew there was something wrong they just did not put it together until I was in my 40's. I thought I was normal since I knew no different. I did not seek out Doctors with symptoms. I thought the Doctors were nuts when they said I had neurological problems.
Avatar m tn Mike Allen West was a Tea Party favorite. how dare you speak well of him.
Avatar f tn I have been battling a cold for 2 weeks. i just found out in 6 weeks pregnant. i took Nyquil, extra streng Tylenol, ibuprofen and advil p.m. im concern about the side effects. i haven't gone to my first appt yet so i haven't had the chance to ask the dr. any one in the same boat?
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm glad to have found this board! I have a daughter who was diagnosed with ADD in first grade. She will go to 8th grade this fall. She had all of the typical symptoms; easily distracted, inattentiveness, impulsiveness, etc. She LOVES school but gets easily discouraged when she's having a hard time staying on track. I was diagnosed with ADD at 40 years old. I'd pretty much suspected that I had it after learning a lot more about it during my daughter's diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I know there are no known birth defects on unborn babies with narcotics, but is there a chance that the drugs have caused it? I wont know if there is anything wrong wiht the baby until June. I've always felt like I take very good care of my daughter even though I've done stuff I'm not proud of. But right now I feel like the worst mother in the world. If I stop taking them suddenly can it cause problem or do I need to gradually get off of them?
738075 tn?1330575844 GG That is so great. I tried to ride a bike and I looked like that guy on Laugh- in with the yellow rain coat on.
904511 tn?1251219733 Hello and welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us. Sandee has done a thorough job of providing you information regarding your new medications. Amitriptyline (or Elavil) is an "old" tricyclic antidepressant. It is not used as often for depression as it is now is for other conditions. It has been around for a lot of years. In the 1960's to be exact.
Avatar n tn There are a few things I'd like to say about the things that you have written. First off, you really need to destress. Stress can play a HUGE part in the way you are feeling. When a drug is given in the hospital, it isn't because of having life supporting measures as much as because the drug has to be given in 'loading doses'. Sometimes it has to be given IV as opposed to pill form. The heart rate in the 50's is pretty normal during sleep.
Avatar f tn The active ingredient in this drug is indeed "phenibut" or Beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid. It is legal in the U.S., although I don't think it should be. It was developed in Russia in the late 1960's and actually used by Russian cosmonauts. It's action is very similar to some muscle relaxants, but it has a slightly different chemical structure. Do NOT take more than the recommended dose.
Avatar n tn Here in Australia many blame the nuclear bomb testing back in the late 1950's early 1960's on many issues...I had a thyroid cancer too. But honestly, the human body is a complex piece of machinery which has more glitches in it than most people realise. Cells at birth can lay dormant for many many years, and then 'pop' up when you least expect it. That is not to dismiss what you are asking.
Avatar f tn So I would be careful not to take ny drugs or get the dnc until you know for sure what is happening. If your numbers are 3000 you should be able to see something on u/s now i think.
Avatar f tn Depending on the source of the cannabis, it could have aspergillosis, a mold that thrives on the plants resin. Usually in lower quality productions. Then the super strains are 50 times stronger than the 1960's. The. Drugs like PCP, heroin, ketamine, are added to cannabis sometimes. Thai mysticism is dipped in opium. I think you shoukd quit drugs, but if you're gonna use them, know the source, quality, and people handing it to you.
Avatar f tn I am currently clean and happy about it....and I started during the Vietnam conflict!!! Read as much as you can stand about your enemy. Make no mistake about this. You are engaged in a firefight with an extremely capable enemy (addiction) and that enemy is attempting to end your life. This is real. But you can be the winner. Best of luck to you.....
5332620 tn?1390319858 I have a background in Clinical Research so I enjoy doing research and in this case it has proven quite interesting. First of all, according to the FDA, "Only one vaccine — one that prevents measles, mumps and rubella — is FDA-approved for administration with a jet injector" and "it has no data to support the safety of most vaccines delivered by jet injectors" and recommended that flu vaccines be given with a syringe.
1362085 tn?1277776457 They start with 50mg and then increase it depending on your reaction to the medication. The medicine does have side effects but it generally is safe for the most part. Have your doctor run blood work to see if u can ovulate or not and then he/she will uide u. Good luck.
Avatar f tn The main question is this, after reading so many posts of what folks are suffering from the tx drugs, it seems clear to me that the drugs are a definite stress on the liver. So if I have compensated cirrhosis w/o cancer (best case scenario) how likely are the tx drugs going to kill whatever s left of my liver before it kills the virus? Thanks to you all and I want you to know that you inspire me with your brave fight.
Avatar f tn I am very concerned about this respiratory virus, it's hitting our state hard and by the numbers!!! I live in Atlanta Georgia (USA if course). It's been known to man kind since the 1960's but it's at its highest rate now in 2014. It's been very active since August but has left many children in the hospital and most are in the intensive care unit!!! An average of 4/5 days to stay, some even more. I am worried about my children at school a 2nd grader and a kindergartener.
168348 tn?1379357075 ► The 1960's -- I was thinking - If we could go back to the 60's but have the technology available from the present, what would be different, better, worse? Your thougths ....
Avatar m tn I have had a lot of luck with pain specialists, because they are not wed to one solution or one modality of treatment. I also can make another suggestion. If 3 months of whatever treatment suggested does not help (or if even one month makes it worse) GET A SECOND, THIRD OR EVEN FOURTH OPINION! I got a second opinion by accident on something when i changed insurance companies and my old specialist was not a panel doctor in my new insurance.
Avatar m tn Jonesers were the people who as teens in the 1970’s made this slang word popular, but beyond this historical claim, many believe the concept of jonesing is among this generation’s key collective personality traits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Jones Jonesers were given huge expectations as children in the optimistic 1960’s, and then confronted with a different reality as they came of age in the pessimistic 1970’s, leaving them with a certain unrequited, jonesing quality.
