Common Questions and Answers about Drug recovery literature

drug

Avatar m tn In the literature the recovery rate is very high for TC, and recovery occurs quickly. What I would like to know is whether this calls for long terms treatment with Coreg as a more typical cardiac event might call for. I would like to get off of all drugs, or at least minimize the dosage. I will be discussing with my Dr in November during follow-up, but wondered if anyone here had experience with this.
Avatar n tn Although there is some research being run now to test the effectiveness of this drug, I found an article about this drug (see the link). Based on the literature, this drug is being used in China in patient with brain injuries such as stroke 48 hours following a stroke. and the result doesn't seem surprising especially that the recovery rate following using this drug is not interesting, at least for me.
Avatar n tn Most people in the very earliest days of addiction recovery experience cravings. It is a common experience in addiction recovery. Alcohol or other drug (AOD) cravings do not mean that you are not working a good program of recovery. With continued abstinence over time, cravings will be reduced in intensity and duration. Eventually, cravings may disappear altogether.
Avatar m tn I'm aware that those are also known causes, but we were eating dinner and though he was "slow to process", there were no other associated symptoms. when confronted he blamed "coming off lexapro", but i am rather skeptical. Indeed, the use of "recreational" with drugs, is in fact a cop out, but not mine; it's rampant in the literature. this man is a know drug abuser and addict.
Avatar n tn my boyfriend is a recovering every drug in the book addict but his drug of choice was meth and it is taking a toll on our relationship being that i have no clue what he is going through seeing how i have never done drugs. i was wondering if anyone can give me advice as to see what he is going through and how to help him trhrough his recovery process. thank you.
Avatar m tn Alcohol is a drug, and for the NA program to work, we have to be completely abstinent of all mind altering substances.. that's what it says in the NA literature. I'm 24 and have been clean of all mind altering substances for 21 months now, so it can be done. For me, getting clean from Oxy was the most important thing, I was willing to do whatever it took to do that and drinking was just another thing I was going to have to change about my life if I wanted to be sober.
Avatar m tn I have seen a posting requesting an answer to a question about a drug to combat wd,s, I have a friend who is a judge and runs a very successful drug court and he stated the his court administers a drug called visiral, I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling, but he claims that it immediately arrests the craving for opiates, in his words, it is a miracle drug, one dosage type thing. Unfortunately I,m not in a position to come out to my Dr., family, & and friends.

1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
29837 tn?1414534648 ribavirin has been around a very long time. the pamphlet that is included with the drug could be as old as the drug (been around since the 80's) More recent studies done on why some people clear HCV and some don't included the absorb ability of ribavirin. This is when several studies find that when Fat is added to riba it is absorbed better. I would at least take the riba with fat long enough for it to build up in my system. then i could take with lower fat food.

Avatar m tn well here it goes. my story is not pretty as many others that have gone before me. I had 13 years clean..the NA way...best years of my life. I worked a serious program through the 12 steps ,had a sponsor(several over the years), have sponsored many men. I moved in 1997 and hard a hard time adjusting to the new meetings. I spent ovcer a year trying to find one that fit to no avail. I stayed clean for for four years without meetings and my life was still very good.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have searched the literature and have not found any articles linking Niaspan with any form of cancer. Niaspan is just niacin, one of the B vitamins, and as far as I can tell, is not cancerous in the dose given in Niaspan. As for your other question whether a five year study can demonstrate a drug-cancer connection, it would depend partly on the study design. The strength of the association between cause (the drug) and effect (cancer) would depend on how the evidence is gathered.
Avatar n tn t just go cold turkey at the end of treatment with every drug. This may prolong her recovery, but mental abilities are the last ones to return in my experience and this may take months. If she's not feeling better with at least some aspects of her health at a month post treatment, then have her contact her doc and get her bloodwork done to see what's going on.
1944426 tn?1324088986 this forum is very helpful and it's a good addition to any addict's program of recovery. but there's no substitute for face-to-face interaction with addicts in recovery. i would suggest that you hook up with the NA folks in your area . . . you will find people who have been where you are and know the path to where you want to be. look at eanaonline-dot-org . . .
Avatar n tn I see nothing in the drug literature that would incidate Cancer as a side effect of Rebif injections. There are considerations concerning the liver but even that was not cancer related. Althought family history of BC is a factor, it only accounts for a very small percentage of diagnosed cases. Regards...
Avatar m tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 8 years ago was great for me and I had a quick recovery. Surgeries change throughout the years. Laparoscopic surgery is great as well as the healing time is much quicker. Myself, I would go laparoscopic as it is a much faster recovery as I stated before. But I would definite talk to you gyn first. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Sub is not a wonder drug it can be a positive tool towards recovery but without recovery care like counseling or aa/na if can easily become a replacement for your DOC ...When you put the two together then it can be very effective tool towards recovery .What were you taking and how much of it ..
Avatar n tn t want to stay on another drug any longer than I need to. I have heard great things about this treatment and hope it works for me. I really want to get sober and stay sober. I am so relieved that I finally took this step and have NO vicodin in my house. This site really helped me to get the courage to take this step. I thank everyone that participates in this forum for your support.
199177 tn?1490498534 Hey all, this is an interesting post and I thought it would be fitting to respond since I probably am one of those people saying I'm clean when not completely so. I completely agree with the fact that we SHOULD NOT replace one addiction with another by taking other medications. However, taking suboxone or methadone is a different story. If these medications are taken under doctor care with the sole purpose of getting off drugs all and all, than I am for them.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Firstly I would say that you have already taken the first step towards bulimia recovery by admitting that you have this diosorder.Poor body image, low self esteem, history of trauma or abuse, image pressure, breakup in relationships are few of the causes and risk factors of bulimia. Since one of the causative factors is poor body image you need therapy for regaining your lost confidence.
Avatar n tn I spent 5 days in the hospital in July with a pretty severe case of viral meningitis. I've since recovered but for the past few weeks I've had continued muslce and joint pain. It's there all day long and doesn't seem to be getting better. My doc did complete blood tests to rule out a number of things but they all came back negative. Is this common? I've heard six months to a year to completely recovery but this is driving me crazy.
205111 tn?1224639754 but at night i have been having these awful drug dreams that seem to be getting worse as my days get better...has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar m tn I am 61 years old ( 62) end of April. I am also a dieabetic, within reason what should my recovery time be....I had 3 flaps put in....1 across my chest left to right the other across my chest right to left, the third on the right side of my stomach.
765245 tn?1234687280 Drug dreams are very common in early recovery and i had them for well over a month non stop. Dreams so real i woke up thinking I had relapsed. They will diminish with time, but I still have the odd one. I used to dream my pockets were filled with cocaine and I was always running away from somone scared to death, i didnt' want them taking my coke, lol. I also saw my dealers in my dreams a lot, so many weird ones. It is part of recovery, but can be very freaky.
