Avatar f tn Down to 1/2 pill/day Subs. Feel like I am getting closer to being totally drug free. I just wanted to come on and make a note. Some of you know my sister had brain surgery back in the spring. She was on powerful pain killers after that. I opened up at that time and told her what those pills did to me and how they ruined my life. I urged her to only take one if she really needed it. Well, she did great. Now, just last week she had to have major back surgery.
Avatar m tn I appreciate I will probably chime most with those of you who have hit rock bottom with this drug, let it be a warning to those beginning and a guide to those, who when ready, want to stop. Best of luck.
199177 tn?1490498534 Any drug off the street can be dangerous. You never REALLY know what they are. They can be cut with all sorts of things, or worse, not cut at all so their strength can be way too strong. Causing overdoses.
Avatar f tn Hey I'm sorry I didn't get back to you. I've been having a little rough time. Anyways...I'm still hanging in there as of now. So yes I had a baby 16 months ago and started taking norco after. I have a past with norco unfortunately and I didn't catch the warning signs in myself because, we'll frankly having a new baby is stressful. I used norco as stead management. Which obviously is not proper. Anyway..I had worked my way up to 8-9 10/325s a day! I knew I had to stop.
1970885 tn?1435860428 Tramadol is one the, if not the MOST dangerous medication out there. It is the drug that started and ended my 15 year opiate addiction. It IS a synthetic narcotic (so it sticks/stays in your body for a LONG time), and it has anti-depressant properties as well. Detoxing from it is essentially like coming of 2 meds at once. I was first prescribed this med 15 years ago for lower back pain. Tolerance to it grows extremely fast and before I knew it I was helplessly addicted to it.
Avatar n tn # HIGH ABUSE POTENTIAL Adderall carries a black box warning—the strongest warning issued by the FDA short of a drug recall—informing consumers about the serious risk of Adderall abuse. This Adderall warning states that taking amphetamines for long periods may lead to Adderall addiction. The warning details the significant risks posed when Adderall is taken for non-therapeutic use or is distributed to others.

Avatar m tn Addiction is categorzied by maladaptive behavior that is typically out of character for the person, including doing things that are harmful, without any regard for the consequences, in order to get the drug. Addiction includes mental cravings for the meds, where dependency is almost always just physical in nature. It's important for you to determine which category you would fit into, if indeed this is even a concern for you.
Avatar n tn It was given out like aspirin. It is very unfortunate that it became a schedule one drug, with the drug enforcement administration tracking down phjysicians who prescribe it. Valium does degrade situational awareness as well as intellectual acuity, and may interfere with driving safety, although that is more of a problem for the first time user. I have used it (prescribed by a physician) rarely, when under extreme stress, and then only for a day or two, and never became addicted.
Avatar m tn Get in touch with your local crisis center. Call an addiction hotline and a local rehab to get more information. Don't give him any money or anything else that will allow him to continue his use. Call his doctor(s) and tell them he's an addict. They will then have to look into and rethink what they prescribe him. He can't truly get help unless he wants it. The harder it is for him to get what he wants, the more likely he'll realize he needs help.
Avatar n tn When I first became addicted to opiates five years ago they helped with pain, but gave me a euphoric feeling that I wanted more of. I have gone through that addiction and know what the warning signs are of becomming addicted. My wife has the klonopin and gives me two a day to take with me to work.
Avatar n tn presented yourself as a caring and cared for mother to be, then there may not be any reason for them to test you. However if you or those around you send out warning signals with their presentation, dress or behavior, your health provider can very well test your baby's meconium (poop) without your consent. They can not test you without your express consent and knowledge.
222369 tn?1274474635 Like Tramadol, it seems as though some in the medical community are fairly naive about the addiction potential of this drug. Besides the tried and true "taper" program, do you have any thoughts on the best way to detox off of this drug? Some have posted that doctors have placed them on benzos for a short term detox. Is this wise? What would be your suggestions on someone wanting to go cold turkey from this medicine?

424839 tn?1268186246 a common occurrence that involves a very brief episode of drug use associated with no signs or symptoms of the dependence syndrome, as specified using the DSM-IV criteria (American Psychiatric Association 1994).
