When my son contacted the Insurance Company and asked them about it, they told him that his company had this one year exemption... I don't get it at all but I am not good at reading these laws or interpreting them and we certainly can't afford a lawyer- not with all his treatment expenses.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Its usually standard protocol that they will do a urine drug test. Its best to be honest with them so that she can get the proper treatment. I wish you all the best.
Avatar f tn Health care workers are required by law to report suspected abuse/drug use. If you know someone battling drug addiction while pregnant a pregnancy counseling center can help. There are anti-addiction drugs which are safer for the baby than illegal drugs.
Avatar m tn I have been on Buprenorphine for almost 8 years (8mg/twice daily/sublingually). My doctor informed me out of the blue that a "drug rep" informed him that it was illegal for him to be RX'ing this drug without special "addiction" certification.
Avatar m tn Addiction is categorzied by maladaptive behavior that is typically out of character for the person, including doing things that are harmful, without any regard for the consequences, in order to get the drug. Addiction includes mental cravings for the meds, where dependency is almost always just physical in nature. It's important for you to determine which category you would fit into, if indeed this is even a concern for you.
Avatar n tn It was given out like aspirin. It is very unfortunate that it became a schedule one drug, with the drug enforcement administration tracking down phjysicians who prescribe it. Valium does degrade situational awareness as well as intellectual acuity, and may interfere with driving safety, although that is more of a problem for the first time user. I have used it (prescribed by a physician) rarely, when under extreme stress, and then only for a day or two, and never became addicted.

Avatar f tn So for myself, jumping from one addiction to a nother, substances, lifestyles. Internet buying. Sex, money, thrill seeking activities and realizing now many years down the line that I. Am not. A recovering addictive who was addicted to coke, then to benzos and then well I'll spare the details, but I am an ADDICT to addictions. My husband says. I try I making excercise an addiction or reading, he still is commented on that "that's all you care about right now" . What do I do?
Avatar n tn That's likely going to depend on the facility and their policies, along with any local laws. The consent form should outline what testing will be done. This forum has members from all over the world, so it's not possible to determine what may or may not be required at a specific facility in a specific state or country.
Avatar f tn I was curious about it so Ive been stuck reading about HIPPA laws for the last hour. It seems that doctors providing you care can share information with eachother without your permission. What seems exempt from that are certain psychology notes. Those have protection. But meds, tests, etc can all be shared with other doctors in order to provide consistent care. I guess HIPPA is more for protecting us from employers and things like that.
Avatar f tn Honestly it depends on the place. I've never been tested at the dr. I would look up local laws or as your dr. I'm pretty sure most hospitals drug test but I've never had a problem with it. I live in Northern California.
Avatar f tn I think that is what you were meaning to type. Anyway, I think drug addiction is a disease just like any other addiction. I often wonder if legalization and tight controls are a beginning to an answer.
Avatar f tn You just posted on the addiction side and said that it was YOU going to 2 doctors.Theres no need to lie here. We're not here to judge anyone. As far as you saying you are not the 'addict type',not sure what that means.Theres not really a type.We come from all different walks of life,us addicts that is. If you or 'your friend' are having legitimate pain and the trams aren't helping, why not stick with one doctor and explain that to them and let them help you?
