2 weeks after I was on a 10 days course of antibiotics called Levofloxin and I got another shot of rosphin. 3 weeks after I was on a 10 day course of Doxycycline. Given these symptoms and inability to locate herniated/ruptured disc on the CT, is it possible the arched back and serology results, along with the vomiting bile, lethargy, depression and failure to eat were all symptoms of the Rickettsia, and not a ruptured disc?
then the PCR test was done and results were positive for mycoplasma, so we did 3 weeks on doxycycline (cycle ended yesterday). some improvement, but now more sneezing and still some clear eye discharge. yesterday, our vet recommended 2-3 additional weeks on doxy, told me it could be allergies or just a stubborn mycoplasma infection. if 2-3 more weeks don't stop the symptoms, we could see an internist for a CAT scan and another test to look up the cat's nasal passages. any thoughts?

You are correct when you assume I asked the GUM clinic staff the same questions, however frustratingly, the nurse practitioner refused to answer any questions I had regarding potential interferences between simultaneous (or thereabouts) use of azithromycin and doxycycline. I want to be 100% sure I clear any potential infection so that's why I wanted to use both.

Since the problem with your dog began as a vomiting issue did any of the vets discuss performing endoscopy, a barium study, or special dietary regiman? Did they discuss the possibility of food allergy gastritis? Did they mention giving your dog a medication called Celexa or Reglan, (or other medication that are anti-nausea and vomiting) medications?
However, has your vet tested for all tick borne, rickettsial diseases, including Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Babesiosis, and Anaplasmosis? Babesiosis is not treated with doxycycline. How about toxoplasmosis, also not treated with doxycycline? The list of possible infectious agents is very extensive!

t say where you live, but if I were you I would look into any veterinary colleges in your state. They have state of the art equipment when it comes to diagnostics and even though veterinary students work on the animals, they are just inches away from graduating and they work under the close supervision of their professors, who are veterinary professors and doctors themselves.
