I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Can someone tell me what STDs can be treated with Doxycycline? Can you list all of them please? Thank you.
Sorry Jack I misread what you wrote. As AJ said the dosage will cure chlamydia. But with oral sex chlymida is not a concern, gonorrhea could be but it is a small risk.
At this point I might not even start the medication and wait for the tests.
Urologist put me on 10 days of Doxycycline. I took the complete dosage and the day after my last dose, when I masturbated, my semen was thick, and yellow. Almost like mucus.
Is this a normal side effect of the medication ?
She put me on it due to urethritis and what she felt was prostatitis...
It just seemed strange the thickness and color but I know medications can do things like that.

Got tested and was positive for chlamydia. I got treated and was put on doxycycline. Got re-tested and I am cured of it but the symptoms never went away. For the past three years after I urinate and after sex (ejaculation) it burns really bad in the middle urethra and part of of the penis never during urination. I've been the urologist and he says he found strep in my semen and he wanted to treat me for it.
In the mean time the doctor told me to stop taking the Cipro and he prescribed me Doxycycline. It seemed like right away after taking the Doxycycline that my symptoms started to feel better. I thought for sure that it was getting better and that would be the end of it. Well i still haven't gotten the results back from the STD's test, and after 5 days of being on the Doxycycline my symptoms have started coming back.

"Adults: 200 mg bid [meaning twice a day] with food; doses of up to 600 mg daily are often needed, as doxycycline is only effective at high blood levels." So perhaps your doc's doses are on the light side -- I'd ask him, but sometimes docs get huffy. I'd ask him anyway. It's your health we're talking about.
What is the dosage of Doxycycline and Azitrox in reactive arthritis caused by chlamydia? Is it the same with the dosage in uncomplicated Chlamydia infection ?

The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
Hi, I took one dosage of doxycycline 100 mg twice a day. It gave me a really bad reaction, severe anxiety, agitation, depersonalization, etc... My doctor said those side effects are rare but not too uncommon with this genre of drugs. The thing is it has been a week since I've taken it and it appears my vision has gotten some effects of static, snowy, like tiny particles jumping around. I don't use any drugs. The last time I smoke marijuana was over 10 years ago due to side effects I had.
I have been diagnosed with folliculitis, and have been prescribed Doxycycline. I have been taking it now for almost two months and I have gained 10lbs very quick. I am still very active and have done nothing different as far as my diet goes. Is this a possible side effect of the antibiotic.
How long it takes to treat Chlamydia and Gonorrhea with antibiotics.
I was on doxycycline for the first urine tests which came back negative. Then I retested 5 days after being off doxycycline. Tests were still negative. I’m still having the symptoms. Had a CBC done and WBC was 5.5 in normal range. My Questions are below:
1. Are these urine tests for gonorrhea etc accurate after being off doxycycline for 5 days?
2. What else could my symptoms be from?

Zpack works differently for different illnesses. Years of studies have shown the best treatment for chlamydia is 1g taken at once. That doesn't mean that a higher dosage won’t work, it’s just proven not to be as effective.

I was prescribed to take 100mg of Doxycycline twice daily for 14 days. Now after completing the full course of antibiotics the symptoms are still present. As a result, I re-attended the health clinic for a test-of-cure and I was informed that a PCR urine test could not be taken until 5 weeks had passed due to traces of the dead bacteria effecting the result. However, a further culture swab test was taken and the doctor stated that there was no mucus cells present in this.
However, resistance to sulfa drugs has steadily increased and typically treatment for one includes treatment for the other.. and today Chlamydia is usually treated with doxycycline.
It does not hurt it is just there. I have masturbated and that does not hurt either. Is this normal? Since I took test may I assume I free of STD. gave me 10 day 2 dosage of doxycycline just in case. Swab test for chlamydia was positive and I finished remainder of antiobiotics. Since then I have still felt a mild discomfort (especially after prolonged sitting). I went back in Mid Oct to get HIV test & swab test again. I have a normal pap smear everytime I go to the Gyncologist all of a sudden last month they say I'm positive for Urea plasma and I took doxy for 7days and I went back they said it was still there and they gave me something else and i was still positive for it then they made the dosage higher to 500mg it didn't work soo they made me take the 500mg for 14 days and i have an appt. next monday but I'm pretty sure its still going to be positive for it.
The tetracyclines, including doxycycline and minocycline, are bacteriostatic unless given in high doses. If high blood levels are not attained, treatment failures in early and late disease are common. However, these high doses can be difficult to tolerate. For example, doxycycline can be very effective but only if adequate blood levels are achieved either by high oral doses (300 to 600 mg daily) or by parenteral (IV) administration.
So 2 days after that i go again to the doctor and get tested, and he said i got it again. So they gave me another Azithromycin + Doxycycline with same dosage. After one week treatment i waited for 3 days and go get tested again. They said im on the clear. Several days after that, with my partner i only does foreplay (No kissing, no sex and 100% Sure that her fluid doesnt touch my genital. Only at hand). I suddenly get another watery discharge. So i decided to buy Ofloaxcin for 7 Days.
Hi I went to the doctor and he put me on doxycycline while awaiting the STD lab results. For the past two days I'm taking the antibiotic I notice that for most of the day my burning pain in penis and genitals is diminished. It may come back later in the day but once I take my next dosage it dissapates again. Inever broke out into sores anywhere atleast that I noticed just this constant burning in genitals. My question is Would doxycycline affect herpes in this way.
