Avatar n tn I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Hair loss can be a side effect of some medications.Doxycycline in general does not cause hair loss as its common side effects. Hope you are doing well. Every person has some hair loss. Hair loss of about 50-100 per day is normal. Medical causes of hair loss are hormonal problems (low thyroid), seborrhea, alopecia areata, stressful illness. Other causes: genetic male/female pattern baldness, telogen effluvium.

Avatar n tn However, she became extremely lethargic, loss of appetite, weight loss, and hair loss/skin lesions. She was then started on a two week dose of doxy followed by two weeks of zenaquin. she has lost over 6lbs and was only 35lbs to begin with. She was just put on another two weeks of zenaquin. Her blood tests revealed high WBC, low RBC, and low T4. It is now about two months from the start of her symptoms and she is still very sick with little improvement from the meds.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am having extreme levels of hair fall and uncomfortable pain in my knees ( not a shooting pain ). I am scared to death, because i kissed my gf and she also started having extreme hair loss now. No STD's tests are positive - HIV antibodies, TPHA (syphilis), Gonorrhea & chlamydia (blood & urine, did not took one for throat as we do not have a test here - however i started on doxycycline for past 1 week to fix any kind of infections ), Herpes 1,2,are negative.

Avatar n tn He told me that I had an infection of my hair follicles and prescribed Doxycycline. I took it for 10 days and all but an area behind the lower part of my right ear went away. I went back to him in December - when I couldn't take the itching any more and he perscribed Doxycycline again. And it appeared to almost go away - but the very itchy bumps are back in full force again and just in that area. It is driving me crazy.
Avatar m tn I am on finasteride for hair loss. I have been on it for 5 years or more without any significant side effects. I am 28. What is the treatment for chemical epididymitis? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn m still very worried, for my rosacea, blepharitis, hair loss, and skin irritations (including inflamed hair follicles) are neither getting better nor coming to a state of remission. So my question is: Could the chlamydia infection have prompted any of the above-mentioned conditions? I'm a 23-year old female who's never had any health problems.

Avatar m tn I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. I figure it is the least of my worries. Looking for my SVR12 in 3 weeks. Hang in there.

Avatar n tn But, every few years my thyroid just burns out, and I go hypo. When I do I experience extreme hair loss and brittle nails. For me, the animal based thyroid substitutes work much better when I'm in a hypo phase. Additionally, sometimes when I am not hypo, the medication I take for my Graves' just knocks down my T4/T3 levels so low that once again I start to lose a lot of hair.
