Avatar f tn Just wondering if doxycycline worked for you. I am on doxy 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Still haven’t seen and marked improvement in my rash.
Avatar n tn I seem to be having a rash reaction to Doxycycline and have taken Benedryl...so far, no other symptoms after 10 hours. If I keep taking Doxy for the next 10 days, will my symptoms likely get worse or stay the same? With such a long half life, I'm likely to have this experience for several days anyway.
Avatar m tn He took a swab test, urine sample and gave me 7 days of doxycycline 100mg x 2. I also went to a private clinic for an HSV blood test -- they said it was highly accurate and "would separate out any false positives/negatives". Both doctors said it did not look at all like herpes, but that if so it was most likely not the primary outbreak. The irritated feeling began to subside, but then I drank a beer and urinated.
Avatar f tn I wonder how many people's Doxycycline treatment for an EM rash failed because they didn't know about avoiding dairy and calcium when taking each dose?!
Avatar f tn m taking the Doxycycline a week now and I notice a white patch on tongue and a red rash-like spot on neck and face. Does it mean, that Doxycycline isn't effective on me? Please help...
Avatar n tn Two weeks later a large infected rash appeared. I got myself tested for Lyme and it came out negative. I was given a day of Doxycycline and then it was changed to Amoxicillan. I took it for two weeks. The doctor told me to stop the medication and get retested. Two weeks later, I got my positive results. I had, at this point, two weeks on, two weeks off the antibiotics. When I returned to the doctor with positive results, he put me back on Doxycycline for another two weeks.
Avatar m tn Now day 3 off meds and still have very uncomfortable rash all over. Could this be allergic reactions to doxycycline or a herx? Is it hard to tell the difference? Thank you for your insight.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the information, I did have one more question can that antibiotic cause a rash on your thighs, it is just a spotty red rash it does not irritate me once so ever. It just started recently. I was prescribed this drug in the military i am on a strict program called PRP which really limits the drugs a doctor can prescribe. When i was on Monocycline I never encountered this.
Avatar m tn I am now taking doxycycline which was for my acne and I want to know if it will cure syphilis if touch wood I got it. I was very worried when I have rash develop on my chest, and start to think a lot. Do u think I may get infected? Am I safe with the condoms?
Avatar m tn I had a severe allergic reaction to doxycycline. I end up in hospital for 2 weeks. It started as itchy rash and quickly spread agross,my body swell and skin blistered and all my skin peeled in the end. Took me months to recover. In hospital they didnt understand what was going on. The condition was called TEN (Toxic epidermal necrolysis). I was blessed to come out of it alive. Hope your wife is well!
Avatar f tn How long does it take for the rash characteristic from secondary syphilis to go away? I have started 14 days of Doxycycline yesterday.
Avatar n tn is it possible that the rash is the result of taking the Ofloxacin, and more specifically, perhaps the result of a build up of bacteria (yeast)? If so, will taking the Doxycycline clear up the rash, or will it just increase the amount of yeast bacteria build up, and thus worsen a rash that could be the result of excess candida in the body?
18610099 tn?1466272350 Recently I got a single tablet of Doxycycline. Then I've got a hard rash on my arm and leg. Then Dermatologist Rx me to get Loratadine 10mg. I've got a single tablet of that Loratadine(Zeos). After that pill my mouth is dry and it's wounded. FDE For Doxycycline,Clavamox,Ciprofloxacin,Levofloxacin. Please help me!
Avatar m tn How long does it take for a person on Doxycycline treatment (100 mg 2x day, for 14 days) for Secondary Syphilis (with rash but without visible ulcers) to stop being infectious? Namely, would I have been potentially infectious to someone 5 full days into the Doxy treatment? 2. How long can Syphilis bacteria survive outside the body (on say a wet glass of water which was either rinsed with regular water or cleaned thoroughly with a detergent after use)? Are we talking seconds, minutes or hours?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the follow-up. Doxycycline can certainly cause a rash of this sort. It is called 'fixed drug erruption" and they can take several days to resolve which sounds to be the case for you. Try not to worry.
19541290 tn?1479741797 Plus heart problems, breathing problems and joint pain that went away after 28 days of Doxycycline. The rash on my hands cleared up as well but about a month later the rash on my hands came back. And I feel a tightness in my chest again.
Avatar m tn How many times a day are you taking the doxy, and why are you taking it for so long for NGU? For NGU, you only need a 7 day course. Are they thinking prostatitis?
19413498 tn?1477669741 I went to two different doctors for this issue and was prescribed 4 different antibiotics for STD symptoms (light penis rash, itching after ejaculation) they thought I had, but had tested negative for all STDs (After and unprotected encounter. I am male). I am very worried taking all these antibiotics will cause damage to me in the long run. Here is what I was prescribed 1. July- Doxycycline Hyclate for a week (was told should "clean any issues up down there") 2.
Avatar m tn at this point I recommend seeing a dermatologist for the rash. too late for cultures if they suspect herpes but odds are it's something else going on from your description of things. probably a fungal infection going on too but certainly ruling out a bacterial skin infection and herpes is a good idea.
18966962 tn?1472601945 I think the red rash is from use spraying the I use the restroom...I have been prescribed doxycycline hyclate 100 mg twice a day for a week then later 1g of azithromycin and a shot of rocephin. I have been tested twice both times negative for Chlymedia/Gonorrhea. Would those antibiotics cover most STIs as well? I know like NGU/Urithirtis/Vaginosis etc.. arnt covered in normal STD panels. Would those antibiotics cover most STIs that arnt included in standard STD panels?
Avatar f tn No, you can't stop taking it. Once you start an antibiotic you have to finish the course to prevent resistant bacteria. And yes, it probably is responsible for your rash, although can't know that for certain. Antibiotics kill off beneficial organisms that provide us protection from lots of things because they are indiscriminate killers.
Avatar n tn because of this rash problem and we were not sure whether it is a reaction from doxycycline, she stopped taking doxycycline for about a week, is it good idea to continue to finish the rest (she's got probably another 10 days doxycycline to finish from a 21-day total)? Thanks much again.
Avatar m tn What can I do for relief? Could it be a yeast infection? I believe a rash would indicate that and I do not have a rash anyway. Just to add: I am 24 years old. I experience no pain when urinating and have not had any discharge. I did have a feeling of a discharge coming for a few days after that day I masturbated 3 weeks ago but it never occurred and I don't have that feeling anymore. I am in good health and have no other complaints to go along with the itchiness.
Avatar m tn I've tried to do a lot of searching before asking, but can't pin this down. I had not had any type of sexual contact for 8 months. Then, the week before Christmas, I had anal sex with a guy I didn't know when the condom broke. I was the top and he said we should just continue -- he said "I'm clean..." I now say "I'm stupid..." I have not had sex with anyone since. I will not ever have unprotected sex again!
Avatar m tn I have been to the doctor he really didnt know what it was said I tried everything, gave me doxycycline. The Doxycycline worked until I stopped taking it. I took a 6 day supply of prednisone and that worked until I stopped taking it as well. I am now using OTC 1% hydrocortisone cream helps but still there. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!
