Avatar m tn Hello, Thick penile discharge could be an infection or irritation of the urethra, inflammation of the prostate or from a sexually transmitted disease like Chlamydia. Chlamydia is an infection caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacterium and is spread from person-to-person through direct sexual contact. Chlamydia can be passed during vaginal, anal, or oral sex if you do not use a condom every time you have sex. Please get evaluated for this possibility from your urologist. I hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Doxy only cures chlamydia if I am correct. I got treated for both chlamydia and gonorrhea just in case when I thought I wasn't cured and it was two different medications. Your discharge may be from a yeast infection due to the doxy you were taking for acne. What Vance didn't say was that we do not advise on self medicating so, if that is why you are asking, it is strictly unadvised.
Avatar n tn Hi trying to figure out if I got chlamydia from my present or previous boyfriend. I took single dose of doxycycline everyday for 6 weeks during the summer. Would that have cleared a chamydia infection.
Avatar m tn Last week i had a stinging in my penis and i was scared for chlamydia. I never had discharge and maybe its my anxiety here speaking. I had with me a package of doxycyline EG 100 mg. I took it last wednesday. but i read that it is required for 7 days 2 pils a day. And in my package there were only 10 pils. So i took 2 pils a day for 5 days. So i had also with me a package of zitromax and yesterday i took 1.5 g at once. I know its stupid but i was so scared.
Avatar m tn Later I was given single dose of 1 gm ceftriaxone and 100 mg doxycycline. Although it gave me massive stomach upset and and caused me to have hemorroids and fissures, I completed the course. which did not give me 100% relief. I went to see the doctor again and I was on 2 gm ceftriaxone IV for three days. which certainly did not work. i still had all the symptoms. finally Chlamydia was found out in culture test. Dr gave me 500 mg Azythromycin and 100 mg Doxycycline for 7 days.
Avatar f tn They treated me for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia while sending the test off (only vaginal swab). They gave me a shot and 4 zithromax and 4 other anti fungal type pills. Well they also prescribed doxycycline. I started taking it. Raging yeast infection! Well i took the doxycycline for 5 days before my ex fiance wanted to come back. We were together sexually on the 19th. No oral. (The gonorrhea and chlamydia test came back negative....vaginally) im scared to death it could still be in my throat.
Avatar m tn My test results came back totally negative for any bacterial growth in culture, and my amplification for chlamydia and gonorrhea were totally negative. My symptoms of dysuria have not improve after a week on meds, I had a mild pain in testicles a few times on day 6 of symptoms, and discharged for about two days as well. Is this a likely false negative? Should my wife be put on partner therapy for std?
Avatar n tn Doxycycline 100 mgm by mouth twice/day for 6 weeks and then once/day for 3-6 months is a common treatment of blepharitis and meibomian gland disease. It is not so much antibacterial as antiinflammatory and gets into the oild gland. That's the reason its also used for acne. There is a new product that is specific for blepharitis but I don't have the details or brand name. None of these cause floaters.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with anal chlamydia, and was issued a single dose of azithromycin. I read the following on medscape.com: Results: 11 patients (26.2%) had a positive TOC following treatment with stat azithromycin. The risk of re-infection was excluded in two, identifying nine of the 11 (81.8%) as treatment failures. Two patients had a positive TOC following treatment with 1 week of doxycycline, both were found to have a risk of re-infection.
Avatar n tn Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
Avatar m tn Accordingly, it will make gonorrhea and chlamydia tests negative, and may result in lower strength in RPR and VDRL, commonly used to diagnose syphilis. But this isn't really the same as "interference": that is, the tests themselves work just fine after or during doxycycline treatment.
Avatar f tn Does anybody know of any cases where the Chlamydia has been drug resistant? And if so, how was the Chlamydia treated? I have not heard of anybody else having the same problem as I do with this infection. This discussion is related to Question regarding Chlamydia and resistance to antibiotics.
Avatar m tn So, I really guess i am infected from the oral sex just not sure what virus caused that. Could gonorrhea, chlamydia and HSV2 cause pharyngitis? If yes, can doxycycline work for that?
Avatar m tn Welcome to the STD forum. You may or may not have acquired an STD from the oral sex exposure. A sense of "burning" on the outside of the penis isn't a typical symptom, and having a few white blood cells in the urine is a nonspecific test result. My guess is that your professor/doctor treated you more as a precaution than from definite diagnosis of urethritis -- but you'll have to clarify that part with him or her.
Avatar m tn You do not mention your age but urinary tract infections are rare in men younger than 40 and thus testing for STIs should almost ALWAYS be done in evaluating such symptoms in men under age 40. Ciprofloxacin has partial activity against both gonorrhea and chlamydia but also should be expected to fail to cure a substantial proportion of infections as well. That said, if you were still symptomatic at the time you were tested, the tests should have provided a reliable result.
Avatar f tn also by googling chlamydia you will see that the yellowish discharge is a common sign of chlamydia most common treatment for chlamydia is doxycycline and i forget the name of the other antibiotic which i was given but u can either take doxycycline for like 7 days or the 4 antibiotics at one time and that's it...it' goes away though i would deff.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with chlamydia about a month ago and was given doxycycline. At the end of that treatment I got tested again and was given Azithromycin. Now it’s been three weeks since that dose and I still have symptoms?
Avatar n tn I had sex with someone and she later told me she had Chlamydia, I went to the doctor and got treated for Chlamydia for which I ended up catching from her. I was treated with Azithromycin and told not to have sex for 7 days. I did not have any symptoms and felt perfectly fine but I guess it does not show symptoms in men. About 3 and a half days later (roughly 80 hours later), I had sex using protection the first couple of times. The last time however, I was foolish and had sex without a condom.
Avatar m tn Chlamydia almost never infects the mouth and throat, and therefore cannot be transmitted to the penis by oral sex. You cannot get chlamydial epididymitis from oral sex. Now I have read the rest of the question. My initial judgment is unchanged. MedHelp moderators are asked to try to avoid overt disagreements with patients' own doctors. However, I am very skeptical you had epididymitis.
Avatar f tn Ive just been prescribed doxycycline to cure my chlamydia (i hope finally) and i know i have to take it for seven days and refrain from sex. But after the seven days, am i ok to have sex again with my partner?? do we need to wear a condom?? or will it be cured?
