Dosing for zantac in infants

Common Questions and Answers about Dosing for zantac in infants

zantac

250701 tn?1320974765 Zantac is the only heartburn med I am allowed to take in my trial with two experimental drugs. I had to give up my proton inhibitor because it might interfere with absorption of one of the drugs. But even with Zantac I have to be careful to take it 10 hours before and 2 hours after dosing with the study drugs. I find that the only way it will help me is if I do not take it near the time of eating. So I try to take it more than an hour after and at least a half hour before eating.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar f tn I had preeclamsia at the end of my pregnancy, and was placed on a beta blocker (labelolol 200 mg bid). I also pumped, but after about 3 weeks, my supply died. Did the beta blocker have that effect on my milk or was it my diet? I also wondered if my taking prilosec had any effect on my son's acid reflux? Ok, so it was two questions. Any other advice about infant acid reflux are definitely appreciated!
Avatar f tn I do not experience what you describe. Do you take medicine? Had recent labs to know if dosing is correct? As for burping, GERD can be attributed to/aggravated by thyroid problems. Maybe burping is a symptom of GERD. You might talk to your doctor about a trial of Zantac or other appropriate medicine.
Avatar f tn s twice daily. He also has me giving him 1 tsp of Dark Karo syrup 2-3 times a day mixed in his bottle for constipation(it's working). He has me giving him 1 tsp of Mylanta supreme as needed for the reflux and upset tummy. I am also having to add 2 tsp per ounce of baby oatmeal in his last bottle at night. So far so good, Conner slept from 10pm to 5am and isn't very fussy anymore. He is also finally having BM with the help of the Karo syrup.
1330108 tn?1333677304 Hey I just saw in your intro post that your little girl has GERD. My baby girl also has it. Zantac didn't work for her so now she is on Prevacid. We have her in our room yet to sleep because I am afraid to put her in her room in case she spits up and has one of her "choking" episodes. I am not sure what you are using for her to sleep in but we just got a fishcer price rock and play which is amazing. It was recommended by her MD and we love it. She sleeps so good in it.
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
3055148 tn?1368211800 Zantac stopped most of it i then stopped taking 20 tums a day anfld only needed them maybe once every few days (not at all if i remembered to take my zantac first thing in the morning and at night!
Avatar n tn I’m alternating Pepcid for two weeks with Zantac for two weeks for GI inflammation. The FDA has dialed back a bit on the Zantac issue. Not sure I trust that, but it was never an extremely concerning report. If Pepcid continues to work I’ll ask my doctor if I can take it regularly.
Avatar f tn Can we just discuss the pros and cons for daycare for infants as early as 6 weeks? Im still uncertain of daycare for my newborn.
Avatar n tn My doctor is telling me to give my 7 year old Zantac for a kidney infection, but I can't find any information on whether or not this is a proper treatment- I just want to be sure??
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
689402 tn?1236306342 Have gone throught 2 rounds of TX, The first in 1992 daily injections and the 2nd in 2002, 48 weeks with a relapse 4 weeks after finishing. I am in good health except for high viral load.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
Avatar n tn Are you sure you understood them correctly? Is it possible your daughter has premature atrial contractions and not atrial fibrillation? I am not a doctor but I have not heard of afib described that way and atrial contractions are not a danger where afib could be due to possible blood clots. Does your daughter have an unusually high heart rate keeping in mind children's heart rates tend to be more elevated than adults.
Avatar m tn When my 1 month old went in for his 2 week check up the doctor told me that quivering is completely normal. She didn't say why exactly though. Just a call to the pedi and I'm sure they'll explain. This should help also: http://www.parksidepediatrics.com/eResources/Newborn/AppearanceandBehavior/tabid/123/Default.
6012171 tn?1381679620 Thank you for your kind replies. I feel much more informed and feel comfortable taking it now. I had no idea it was such a small dose and now in retrospect my question seems silly. Unfortunately, I had a very bad reaction to a prescription drug several years ago where my throat swelled. It was scary and now I always get a bit paranoid about new medications. I do usually see a MS specialist.
Avatar f tn My daughter kept aspirating so they had to thickenher milk by adding rice cereal to her formula and also giving her zantac. Zantac works well for acid reflux she's able to eat without spitting up. Everything will be fine .
