I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections.

I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
I decided to self medicate with 150 mg Doryx twice a day that I had at the house. Been taking for about six days now. The discomfort just started to go away today on the sixth day. Here are my questions:
1.What are my chances that I caught something and what?
2. Could I have gave it to my wife?
3. Will the Doryx clear up anything I could have caught?
4. How long should I keep taking it?

I started taking Doryx 250 mg as prescribed by me derm around oct 16...the first week was fine but then I noticed the 2nd week I was losing double the amount of hair in the shower. These weren't even new hairs, but complete long strands were falling off and i've never experience that before. I nearly had a heart attack! I've currently been off the medication for almost a month now and the im still losing more hair than I used to.
The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I was treated this time with doxycycline 100mg bid X 7d. 9 days later I was feeling ok and engaged in intercourse but the next day my right testicle was pretty tender feeling and my scrotum was very droopy.
I am a married man for 13 years. In a moment of weakness, I had oral sex with another man. We did not ejaculate into each other mouth but I did taste pre-cum. About two week later I started getting a discomfort feeling in the end of my penis and urinating more frequemtly. What are my chances of catching something? Im South Indian. Once back home I went to my doctor and he diagnosed an inner ear infection causing the dizziness and it would go away in time. However eleven months down the line it is still there. On a daily basis I feel lightheaded. This can vary from feeling slightly lightheaded and able to carry on with life to feeling dizzy and completely housebound. I believe you just go in and they give you anti biotics safe for pregnancy.
For two years I have had itchy, dry, crusty inner ear problems. It itches very bad and is just inside the inner canal. White crusty flakes come out into my ear. The doctor gave me ear drops, but it seems to just make it drier. My wife has been putting monistat cream in there with a Q-tip which makes it feel better.
Do you know what medication I can use to permanently get rid of this? We live in a very low humidity area and it is very dry here.

Human ears are very different from dog ears. Dogs do have many different kinds of highly purulent infections of the ears, all with different treatment protocols. So the additional test is warranted.
The fine needle aspirate is a good screening tool, but it is just the initial step in the diagnostic process.
