Dogs sneezing nose

Common Questions and Answers about Dogs sneezing nose

Avatar n tn Sneezing dogs, this time of the year, is a sure sign of allergies (especially if they're fine throughout the rest of the year). What RedHed1973 said... Benadryl. We actually give ours the regular kind (non-drowsy of course). Works like a charm and stops the itchy skin, watery eyes, runny nose, eye boogers & sneezing. Late April through August is allergy season for our girls, so we stock up on Benadryl big time during those months!
694466 tn?1227681402 Is she sneezing or coughing? Does she bring up any phlegm when she coughs? Any discharge from her eyes or nose? Let us know how things go....
Avatar f tn I was VERY interested in the vet saying he could hear congestion in his nose... which goes with reverse sneezing. I was also interested in the report that the dog licks a lot. Well, our dog is blowing his coat at an unexpected time because we had balmy weather when normal is very cold this time of year. He licks his coat, of course, all the time, and we do our best to keep up with the big white clumps of fur coming off him.
Avatar n tn I used Flonase in the past. Same thing. I'm on Benadryl all the time, otherwise I would have an itchy runny nose, sneezing, plus this sinus pain. I can't take ANYTHING for pain. I've been dealing with a kidney issue, so NSAIDs are out. I'm allergic to Tylenol, and I'm allergic to all opiates. When I was hospitalized with renal failure, the hospital had me lying down on a K-pad to deal with the intense kidney pain, because there isn't anything left that one can take for pain.
518117 tn?1429279873 I have talked about Paradise some on here. She is getting ready to turn 4. And what a sweetie she is. Paradise has been doing a lot of sneezing over the months. Otherwise, she is maybe a tad overweight, eats like a little pig, goes to her litterbox well etc. Has a beautiful shiny coat, too. Very healthy except for these sneezing fits. Paradise was a gunshot victim almost 2 yrs. ago. Lost one eye and hearing in one ear.
Avatar n tn My allergies to dogs cause ichy skin, runny nose and constant sneezing within 10 minutes of being in close contact with them. I was wondering if Zyrtec would significantly help to relieve these symptoms. Have other people had success with it? What are the common side effects of Zyrtec? The current medications I am taking are Zoloft and Trazodone, would it be ok to take Zyrtec with these 2 prescription drugs? Thank you for your information.
641243 tn?1235755684 There are so many reasons your dog could be having a nose bleed. The excessive sneezing episode that you mention could have caused a small blood vessel to break or it could just be from an allergy as you stated also. He has been through alot recently. You haven't said how old Wentworth is but judging from his picture he does not look to be up there in age but you never know. Retrievers get nose bleeds alot it seems.
1375427 tn?1278730730 Has he been sneezing? Sometimes sneezing can cause nosebleeds in dogs. Also, it might be possible that he is having 'reverse sneezing' attacks (which are quite common in dogs, and quite mysterious. No-one really knows what causes them. However if those breathing issues ARE reverse sneezing, that in itself is usually quite harmless. But of course it might not be. Dogs can and suffer from asthma-like symptoms. So I suggest you get his breathing fully checked-out.

480331 tn?1310407129 She is one of the most high-spirited dogs I have ever seen, loves to play, give kisses, etc...I have noticed when I kiss her nose or touch anywhere near her snout, she yelps in distress. I try to open her mouth to see if her gums are swollen, but all appears normal. Speifically the region around her nose seems to be very sensitive. Any idea or suggestion what may be wrong? Thank you!!
Avatar m tn My dog has been excessively sneezing for over a year now. She has had no respiratory problems until around then, and has been to the vet multiple times since. She is always sneezy with watery eyes and a runny nose and very occasionally coughs up mucus. She also has a problem with "reverse sneezing". We've tried giving her small doses of benadryl and some human allergy medication, but nothing provides long term relief for her.
Avatar m tn It could be when I say something, or some body turning around and seeing me. I also feel like people who do this 'fake' coughing, sneezing, or rubbing their nose are jerks. As they're using it to convey something negative about you. Anyone else have the same idea? I know most of you think this is a medical problem.
Avatar n tn I have always suffered with allergies... such as sneezing and then blowing my nose for half a hour a day at least. We bought a home and moved to the suburbs. When I blow my nose a lot it gets red and sore then swells up. This time it has swollen up for 4 days and did not go away. It is just the top of my nose and the circling areas. It hurts bad and looks like rudolph the red nosed reindeer. It is swollen like a balloon... Does anyone have a clue what it could be.
Avatar f tn I've been feeding a stray cat for a few weeks, and the poor creature has got a really gross problem with his nose. I thought he'd been in a fight and got his nose chewed, because instead of having a nice pink triangle where his nostrils are, he had a big scab. I thought it would heal by itself, but he keeps scratching the scab off, and it oozes with blood and pus. It smells bad. I'm allergic to cats, but took pity on him when he came begging in my garden.
Avatar f tn as if i had bad breath but instead of coming from my mouth it was coming from my nose..very embaressing as I work with customers every day and was sure they could smell it too. So I went to the doctor and he gave me a nasal cream called Naseptin and some tablets called Erythromycin. After only a day of using these the smell has gone! So there is a cure out there...its just finding the right one..
Avatar n tn This virus is found in nasal secretions of infected individuals. It is spread by sneezing or coughing at a range of less than 6 feet or by hand-to-nose or hand-to-eye contact. Therefore, if you have other children in the home who go to a large day care or school, your baby will take longer to get over the coughing and coughing because of the constant germs and virus that are brought home from the older children from schools. People do not develop permanent immunity to the virus.
988694 tn?1332363079 In my teens I started to feel this awful post nasal drip that did not let me to do anything. I had sneezing and stuffy nose. When I started to take the birth control my hypo symptoms got better, including my post nasal drip. I had a septum surgery to improve breathing but my post nasal drip got so bad after that I can not exercise like a normal person. Winter is horrible for me. It is me and tissue everywhere. I sneeze and have a lot of crusting.
973741 tn?1342346373 I had to put her in a kennel while we were on vacation and since being home, her little nose is et a good deal and she is sneezing and making little sniffly noises from her nose. She eats, drinks, plays and is fine. But was just wondering if she has a little cold?? I'm not so much worried but curious. I expect that if it is a virus, it will resolve and she'll be back to normal.
Avatar f tn So i have the common cold, sneezing, runny nose, itching throat, and coughing up mucus.... My dog sleeps with me every night, n i share most of my food with her, i just wonder if she will catch my cold??
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing difficulty in breathing through the nose since 2008. The last time I had this problem was from 1993-1997. I am allergic to dogs, & the nasal congestion was resolved only after I underwent inferior turbinectomy in Apr 1997. (After the procedure, I began bleeding non-stop from my eyes while on the recovery table, & the surgeon removed some of the nasal packing -- he said I am "prone to bleeding". Post-surgery, I stayed 5 days in the hospital.
Avatar n tn I dont know much about dogs seeing as im a cat person but i did watch a show on breeds of dogs and they were saying how dogs (like a boston terrier) have breathing probs due to the face being smooshed in....
Avatar f tn I ask because if you live in the country, or if you have a lot of plants in your yard, it's possible that he managed to inhale something and now it is stuck in his nose. Dogs have inhaled foxtails before and these can be very painful and actually need to be removed by the vet if they become stuck in the nostril. He could also have a simple case of allergies. It is September, and many of the fall plants that affect humans with allergies also affect dogs.
Avatar n tn She loves animals, but her reaction includes runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, and eyes swelling shut. Is it safe to have an outside dog? I have two other children that are begging for another pet. I've heard recently of brain inflammation due to allergies and it really scares me to allow her around any animal. Thanks for any help or info you can give.
145992 tn?1341348674 I think my son has allergies. He's constantly rubbing his nose and sneezing. He also rubs his eyes sometimes non-stop for a good 15 minutes. It always seems that he has a cold because his nose is running all of the time. Being that I have horrible allergies myself, I'm thinking that I passed this on to him. I'm allergic to dust, trees, pollen, cats, a little from dogs, but I have no food allergies. So could he be allergic to these things as well? What is the solution here?
Avatar f tn I don't have any trouble with sneezing, runny nose or sore throat. Is there any way they can stay in the house and get my symptoms under control? What steps can I take to keep them in the house? Also would Alegra help with my rash and itching or is that just for sneezing, stuffy nose and stuff like that?
Avatar f tn My dog has had severe nasal allergies since May. She has had congestion, runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, and what sounds phlegm in her throat. The vet has prescribed an antihistamine and a steroid when necessary. The antihistamine does not seem to be working anymore and we don't like to give the steroid unless necessary. Can you tell me what other options are available?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the help. Both Pekingese and Pugs have short noses, but if your vet is correct about this "choking" being due to having a short nose, then these dogs should be "choking" constantly and not just once in a while. I'll bring him to my vet and I'll post back with what she says.
Avatar m tn I do suffer with seasonal allergies from pollen etc... but I dont have any other allergy type symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, running nose, congestion, etc...My question is, can one have sinus problems due to say pet dander and allergies without all the other typical allergy symptoms? Usually I experience much more than headaches or pressure.
