Avatar f tn Lilly - there are raw hot dogs that are sold in the grocery stores. They cost about 3 times as much as cooked ones, and they are actually healthy for you. You do have to cook them, though, it's like buying raw turkey. The problem with processed cooked hot dogs isn't bacteria, as I understand it, but the fact that it's loaded with nitrates and garbage. Cooking them, or heating them up doesn't solve that problem.
Avatar f tn I was told you can eat lunch meat as long as you heat it up first & same with hot dogs just make sure their cooked good. You can eat tuna as long as its chunk light in water. No albacore & only once or twice a week. Even once in awhile I'll have a sandwhich and not heat up the lunch meat and I've been fine.
88793 tn?1290227177 Hi there. I would not give raw chicken since it can harbor salmonella. Raw beef would be okay as long as it has been frozen and thawed, or refrigerated properly, before giving it to your cat/dog. I have not heard of animals getting worms from eating raw meat. Is there a specific worm you are referring to? Perhaps I could be of more help with a little more information about that.
1945970 tn?1324211954 s enough bone for the amount of meat, so I do not feed this way.....I do think raw chicken necks (For small dogs) or Turkey necks (For large dogs) are perfect for a meal....Yes, if I'm cutting raw meat up for our own dinner, they all get a bite... I choose to feed prepackaged Raw.....Everything is already ground up (Including the right amount of bone)....I use frozen or dehydrated Raw.... There are many companies providing Raw Pet food....
Avatar f tn Youre not suppoaed to eat raw hot dogs or like sandwich meats bt that aint gna stop me from eating subway lol.
Avatar f tn When I say meat, I mean red meat, chicken and fish. Cooked better, but a little raw red meat may trigger his appetite If you are tying to get him to eat dry kibble, you might try grinding (food processor or chopping very fine with a knife) that with raw carrots, or other vegetables: green beans, celery and so on. You may need to add a few spoons of water to help blend the mixture. No need to make a large portion, a small portion will establish his interest/willing to eat., .
Avatar f tn Dogs were meant to eat raw meat, rather than cooked cuisine. You can make your own raw food, (google for a raw meat recipe, or buy a book about holistic dog care), or you can buy it already made. The most complete frozen raw food I've found is "Nature's Variety." Also, "Steve's Real Food" is quite good, but I'm sure there are other decent ones.
Avatar f tn They can even eat raw chicken safely if they are a healthy dog! (not that you should ever give it to them). Dogs systems have evolved to process raw meat. However, if a dog has a bad immune system, they can get sick from things like raw or rotten chicken. Since your dog is showing signs of gastrointestinal distress with diarrhea, you may want to call your vet. But really, food poisoning from spoiled food or raw food is very rare in dogs as they have so much stomach acid.
Avatar f tn has anybody had the urge to eat raw beef? i havent done it, but i have been eating really rare steaks an they are sooo good.
Avatar n tn It will say on the package. Umm raw meats. If you eat lunchmeat or hot dogs make sure you warm the meat first until steamy hot. Dont eat raw sprouts.
Avatar f tn Actually I dont think your supposed to eat it as its cured/smoked like ham and bacon :/
Avatar f tn Hi. Raw bones can be a major problem for all dogs, as they can cause blockages, splinter the gastric tract, etc., and by the time you know something bad has happened, your dog will be dead. So, do you still want to take the risk ... ??? The other problem with raw bones is they can introduce bacteria and infection - and this is definitely something you want to avoid with a renal failure dog.
675347 tn?1365460645 In a 2018 study conducted at University of Melbourne’s U-Vet Werribee Animal Hospital, dogs consuming raw chicken meat were 70 times more likely to develop a paralyzing condition called acute polyradiculoneuritis (APN). The paralysis begins in a dog's hind legs, spreading to the front legs, head, neck and face. If the chest is affected, death can result." The raw diet for dogs has been considered the best natural diet but it is not without risks. "....Dr.
152660 tn?1291755571 I'm considering starting homemade food diet for the cats and puppy. I know there are a few of you that do your own food so I wanted to ask a few questions. :) Some will be opinions but with the research everyone here has done I probably trust you more than the vet at times. 1. Oliver has Kidney disease and the vet put him on the Science Diet KD food- DRY (I know, I know- I hate science diet and he needs moisture not dry) and he won't eat the canned. All 3 really like that food.
Avatar f tn Ok, yea it was just barely pink and I only took 3 bites but just didn't know if I should have something to worry about or not
7945295 tn?1397658820 yes, raw meat makes me super nauseous.. raw meat, cooked meat, any meat! lol I have my days.. I was able to eat a sub last week, and spaghetti yesterday.. most days I can't stand the smell of meat though. glad I'm not the only one!
Avatar f tn Never really understood how this even came to be from my understanding it's all RAW MEATS. I have worked at subway before and nothing is raw there. And have pretty high health standards.
Avatar f tn You can eat hot dogs. I have eaten lunch meat with my first two, and now still eating it as I'm baking #3.
Avatar n tn I probably wouldn't season the meat. I don't know what you're putting on it but some spices are pretty unhealthy for dogs. If they are getting food inside when they beg for it, you've probably spoiled them a bit too much and for whatever reason they prefer what you're eating. Dogs aren't crazy, they learn very quickly and if they've learned that not eating breakfast gets them something better at dinner, they'll hold out!
Avatar n tn Did he puke? If it was something he couldn't handle, he'd probably puke. This was just meat? Not chicken bones? If it was bones, see the vet. If just meat, then dogs' digestion can usually handle what would make humans ill. Dogs can scavenge a bit, and get away with it (not that they should!) Sometimes they can eat things that would make you sick to even think about. Obviously if he shows signs of bad diarrhoea or vomiting more than once or twice I'd take him to see the vet.
Avatar f tn I read somewhere that broccoli is toxic to dogs. My dog likes eating the stem/root of broccoli sort of like a bone. He prefers fruits and veggies over his own dry dog kibble. Can someone please provide me with a safety list of fruits/veggies for dogs. I keep getting hearing mixed information; about broccoli and almonds and more.
1411503 tn?1281636246 I have never had it with my dogs and they have a varied diet with fresh meat brown rice and veggies, sometimes I grate raw carrot to mix in. They also love garlic. When they go poo they cant wait to leave it fast enough. This is just my opinion.
675347 tn?1365460645 I don't feed raw meat or poultry of any kind to my dogs. I know some people swear by a raw diet for their dogs but I'm just not convinced it's entirely safe or necessarily "better" than a commercial or home-cooked diet. The usual argument is that wolves and other wild canines eat raw meat from a kill and they do just fine. Well, that's a freshly killed animal, and we don't exactly have statistics on food poisoning or other food-borne illnesses in wild dogs.
Avatar f tn Raw sushi...sandwich meat that has been sliced from the deli.....swordfish.....steaks need to be well done.....
Avatar f tn I heard too much fish isn't good but cooked hot dogs lol. No its fine as long as their not raw. Sandwiches? Lol once again as long as you heat it up.
1683681 tn?1305153930 taurine supplements for cats? Species: Cat Breed: American Short Hair Age: 2-5 years I have 7 cats and 2 Chihuahuas. They eat each other's food. Although I buy specific food for both, I get better buys for wet canned dog food. I know cats need taurine. They get it in their dry food. However, I'm concerned that they don't get enough taurine when eating the dogs wet food. Can I purchase Powdered taurine and add that to their wet food without hurting my cats and dogs?
