Common Questions and Answers about Dog eye infection green

infection

Avatar f tn He has been having a yellowish green eye bugers coming out of his left eye. It is also pretty red. The eye bugers are more often than a normal eye. I am wondering what I should do. We think he might have allergies and on occasion we give him a benadril. He is a hunting dog so he is in the water often and in brush. I am unsure if the eye could be scratched or somthing is just caught in there. But i can not see anything by looking.
Avatar f tn I have had a few episodes of seeing green upon awakening. Everything is green for a few minutes, then goes back to normal! This last time was just the left eye. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure. Any ideas out there?
Avatar m tn They now think it is an allergy problem yet she hasn’t been in any new environments .She has been treated with both steroid eye ointments and now steroid eye drops. Unfortunately the treatments don’t seem to be working and the discharge is now a green colour. She doesn’t seem to be affected in anyway, no squinting or rubbing of the eye.
Avatar n tn Your dog hasn't been eating or drinking just today or longer? The cat food may have upset his stomach. I would not worry about him not eating for a day but he does need fluids. It is not unusual for dogs to vomit on occasion, however, it is not something to be ignored. Has he been eating grass or plants? Some plants are poisonous. Any chance he could have ingested anti-freeze? These scenarios would be considered a medical emergency and should warrant a trip to the Vet immediately.
Avatar n tn I have seen other posted questions about discharge coming out of an eye when a person blows their nose. I too have had this same issue for a couple years, and doctors had always said that it was not a problem to worry about. However, several weeks ago I developed a bad sinus infection and along with it I started to have green/yellow discharge coming out of my right eye, which has since spread to both.
Avatar m tn My guess is it could be a chronic infection there. Green, or yellowy-green discharges usually do signify infections of some kind, especially as it smells bad. It must irritate and itch like glory! Please do him a favour and take him to the vet. Now you can steam-clean your carpets!
Avatar f tn just keep an eye out for infection, swelling, redness, fever, green discharge. Use triple antibiotic and call the doc.
Avatar n tn Thank you, do you think the eye symptoms could be connected to my nose symptoms? I woke up the same morning with the inside of nasal passages to be extremely sore, blotchy red, yellow crusty, and tender to the touch. Could that be bacterial too?
Avatar m tn I was hoping to upload a photo so you could get a better idea.My dogs symptoms are brown sticky drainage from left eye that gets crusty. I was told by Vet to use overnight Dry Eye lubricant. The discharge has never been green or yellow so I don't think there is a secondary infection. Right eye is perfect. Dog is blinking from damaged eye. I'm thinking his condition is due to residual affects from his horner's and he has not completely returned to normal.
Avatar m tn I have bag balm. I should have thought of that! Thanks for the help!
20559374 tn?1536330920 Completely destroyed my eye. Now that eye is a very deep green. The rt eye which did very well is bluish green. Before surgery my eyes were both a medium green with no other color in them.
1948900 tn?1324519237 Thanks for all the ideas. Yes GHilly, the iris of her eye where it was once light blue is yellow-green. Her gums are yellow her skin I think is pale white-pink. (She's got a lot of fur) Even though she has seemed to perk up since taking the meds and she isn't throwing up anymore I can't get her to drink water. She just ignores it unless I encourage her and praise her while she drinks.
Avatar m tn If she is whining I would think she is in pain, and if there is a green yellow liquid, I would think theres an infection. My guess is she needs a vet and meds.
612551 tn?1450022175 Right the reference I gave shows how a dog's eye sight interprets color as compared to human, in the human visible light spectrum. We have, just like our TVs and Cameras, three primary color sensors, Green, Blue and Red (or their complements) and dogs only two: Yellow and Blue. While I found the reference less clear on acuity and brightness (I couldn't see any difference to the brightness for human compared to dogs.
Avatar m tn is not technically correct. It is green VISION, not eye turning green or green iris or external eye (sclera/conjunctiva) turning green. DEFINITION: Chromatopsia (i.e., “see color”) is an uncommon condition in which a patient experiences an increased perception of an environmental hue, leading to color-tinged vision.
Avatar n tn Hi, Your dog may well have dry eye along with Cushings disease. It may be necessary to add a wetting agent between cyclosporine doses.Alternatively your dog may have developed a corneal ulcer from dryness. If the opthalmologist is many days out recheck sooner with your doctor. If the dog is squinting or otherwise uncomfortable, do the same.if he is blind he may have another condition like glaucoma or uveitis (increased pressure or inflammation or both). Again see your doc!
Avatar n tn Have you seen the green stuff or just been told about it? When they took her to the doctor, what did the doctor say or do? She may have some eye drops they gave her. I'd say it is allergies or an eye infection (that is rarely serious). But they have sought medical attention for her---- so am guessing they are on top of it.
613536 tn?1294238447 I think my daughter who is 7 weeks old might have an eye infection. She has a yellow discharge coming from her eye... is this an infection? Will she need a trip to the doctor or is there something I can do to relieve it at home?
Avatar n tn my dog is in labour shes had 3 pups but is now losing green liquid is this normal ?
Avatar m tn my dog has a swolen eye and the eye lid is possably bruise i have ben wipeing away any excees fluid about how long till the swelling sould go down
Avatar n tn I am really worried the eye may need to be removed, so get that dog to a vet today. All that swelling from infection behind the eye can also cause meningitis which can be fatal, so there is no time to lose. A similar incident happened to a neighbor's dog several years ago, and the eye had to be removed because the infection could have blinded the other eye by traveling along the optic nerve. The dog did just fine after surgery.
Avatar m tn Ghilly has offered some good suggestions. I would also wonder about kidney diseaes, given the loss of weight and thirst. This could be discounted with blood tests at the vets. I assume they checked blood results for kidney failure? In the short term, it seems it is important to get something nutritional in him. Personally, I would advise something like Green Tripe, which you can usually get in tinned or frozen form from a good pet store.
