I am in SO much pain!! The doctor did prescribe Tramadol 50 mg instead of Ultracet but it is not helping at all. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried moist heat, TENS unit, Lidoderm patches, Tramadol, Zanaflex, and even took some leftover hydrocodone 7.5 that I had. NOTHING is touching this TERRIBLE Pain!
Can anyone offer any advice?
Hey Aaron... Ultracet is addictive. Many people have gotten hooked on it. Its Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol I believe they are all related and whehter doctors say so or not, they are addictive and can be dangerous. :( sorry for the bad news. They are also derived from the opiate family. Be careful with them. Ive used them during in between times when I was using -- just to hold w/drawal at bay -- so that should tell you something right there..
it affects ur life negatively....ur getting it on the internet or streets, It sounds like u have a condition and its being treated. Sounds fine to me. Ur right that as soon as u say u are on pain meds people freak out and think ur an addict. That isnt always the case. I think being an addict means u r misusing ur medecine or ur taking medecine that isnt prescribed to u. Just because u take meds everyday doesnt automatically make u an addict that needs help.

So is Tramadol safe to take? I have a friend in recovery from being a drug addict for 24 yrs.now, and she said it is not addicting, relieves her pain.. and is a fabulous thing for her arthritis. Is it safe to say it is not addicting, and non-narcotic and safe for an addict. From all I am reading it seems it is JUST a BAD drug.
whats ultracet? i know its a pain reliever with tylenol, but does it give you the energy and motivation of vike or percs? I ask because I had to change doctors, and while he wasnt too happy to write for the vicodins i have been on for years, he had no problem with ultracet and he gave me a script.....so im basically asking, do people get addicted to this drug? should i not even start it?
does he have prior addiction problems? that is about 8 a day and tramadol is a weak pain killer but very addiction...2 weeks may not be long enuf to get addicted...tramadol is supposed to be tapered slowly if u r addicted to it....it may be the cause of the tummy stuff...does he have the runs? are u sure he doesnt take other stuff that u dont know about?
I had my surgery ten years ago and have been in chronic pain for the last year. The doctor said my recent MRI was normal. I take codeine and ultracet but it doesn't help much.
In general, drugs such as Ultram (or tramadol) are not recommended during pregnancy or during breastfeeding because there is a lack of safety information. This does not mean that it will necessarily cause problems for the fetus or baby, but since the information is not known, it might. Animal studies have shown that the drug crosses to the developing fetus, but the danger to a developing human fetus is not known.
m tired anxious and my stomach hurts and is in knots. Does anyone know how long this will last? I have an appt w/a doc, but he can't see me for seven more days. I'm trying to decide if I can just wait it out.

I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination.
I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period.
If ultram is different than that is news to me. When I googled it read that Ultram was another name for ultracet.
I think if you look on your bottle it will tell you.
Hey any one awake yet....I have a question...the doc. now has put me on ultracet...it says 37.5 5/325....i had to take 2 yesterday over the cource of 12 hours...my questions is i'm reading that ppl are becoming addicted...i dont understand how....they dont make me feel high.....however the pain is better..not completely gone but better...so my ? is why are ppl getting addicted taking 10-15-20 a day if they dont get you high...can someone enlighten me.
they gave me ultracet last week which in generic is toradol. it worked SOOOO good on my pain i would take 2 in the morning at like 7am and it wouldnt stop working all the way until like 4pm. I had this burst of energy (which is why i think some get hooked) i got alot done and was in a great mood. Seeing that I have come off hyrdos i have to be very cautious. be careful and do not take more than needed or you will be right back where you started.
From what a lot of you have said, the Ultracet scares me more than the hydrocodone. I have been on it and have not had to up the dosage to get the relief I need at this point. It sounds like the Ultracet is more addictive and you tend to have to up the doasage quicker.
I am having another procedure done on my neck next week and I plan to discuss a lot of your comments and suggestions with them. Thank you so much for sharing with me.
I didn't realize there were different schedules for pain meds...I have rsd in both hands..I've gone from ultracet to vicodin to my second increase on percocet..Maybe this is why my pm dr is hesitant to up my dosage anymore. I have increased my neurontin increased to 1200mg a day..also on cymbalta and voltaren gel..Thanks for the info....
I discovered by accident that the codeine helped it actually so it became a double whammy, I took it for the pain in my head, and I took it for the RLS. I know it can get worse from decreasing narcotics though, my husband was taking morphine for an accident with pain and nerve damage and when he finally was able to cut down and then quit as he got better, he experienced it and he does not have RLS as a stand-alone thing.
s risky as it is hard on the stomach and I need to have periodic liver testing done, but it does work and I am able to function. Maybe your doc can give you an alternative, non-opiate for those occasional flare-ups. If he does, flush the trams and the oxys. Especially the trams.
Be advised some medicos dispense Tramadol as it controls pain "but doesn't produce the high that vicodin and percocet and others do.
re right pain must be controlled but do you abuse your prescribed amount and it sounds like you have been on it a long time, 2 years. You have a permanent injury does that mean you have permanent pain that cannot be controlled by something that is not opiate and extremely habit forming? The opiates can make your pain worse or less bearable over time. You also admitted you have taken them to feel high so you should really seach your heart about this.
does he have a chronic illness that causes him moderate to severe pain?
if he doesn't then it's fair to say he may well have an addiction.
perhaps his stomach issues are related to constipation which can be a side effect of taking narcotics and similar drugs. tramadol isn't classed in the same category as the most powerful opiates but it relies on the same receptors in the brain which i think is what makes it addictive.
Is he underweight?
