Common Questions and Answers about Does pristiq keep you awake

pristiq

Avatar f tn Just started ativan last night and I can barely stay awake today..also on ativan and abilfy..is this normal will the drowiness go away?
603543 tn?1255294450 If it keeps you awake at night then take in the the morning or noon. If it makes you sleepy then take in in the evening. You should do well on it. I have found it to be a very clean antidepressant. Weith makes it and they really know their stuff. They have some of the best antidepressants in the world.
Avatar n tn If you are worried contact the pharmacist they will be able to tell you.
Avatar n tn I have been taking the pristiq now for over 3 months, and this is the newest add to my list (klonipin next newest at a little over 4 months -- the rest have been years.) I have just recently started getting these odd shocky type feelings through my arms, legs, sides, neck ... I really don't know how to describe tem, it's not quite electrical, but it's a good analogy. sometimes it almost just feels as if I can physically feel my blood moving through my veins.
759115 tn?1256997490 I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.
Avatar f tn Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.
606378 tn?1297304964 I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.

744415 tn?1243953376 Thank you for your response. I will give this medicine just a little longer to see if that one side affect wears off. If not, then it's back to the doctor to see what else I can do. I feel weird when I keep going back to the doctor to get new meds, it gives me a complex, like I'm a junkie or something...LOL! So many doctors (and people) label you if you keep running back and forth to the doctor. I'm on my 3rd medicine since October.
Avatar n tn Sounds to me like you are choosing meds for the wrong reasons. You wanted to try Pristiq because you saw it being Rx'ed a lot where you work? I'm SURE you can understand how that would not be a good reason. If you were taking an AD for anxiety (the Prozac), Pristiq would have actually not been the best choicem as it can be quite activating. I'm sure you're not having a psychotic break...sounds more like it is affecting your memory and increasing anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've known for 2 years that I have MS but just decided to join this forum. It looks like a great place to be. I am wondering, does anyone else with MS take Nuvigil? If so, how do you like it? Does it work for you? I'd like to know the pro's and cons if you don't mind. Thanx!
1450085 tn?1298941702 Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.
1243650 tn?1269094140 I have the worst fear of Doctors and Dentist. I realllyyy want to get over this but cant. Anywho, for the first time ever I went to the Doc today about myself and my mental health. So after she said to start taking this pill Pristiq for how I was feeling and also for anxiety. I told her of my fears and she said it might even help me go to the dentist with no anxity at all.
Avatar n tn He also gave me clorazepate (which just puts me to sleep and nausea). I hate combining drugs, can you believe that? Any input about the Pristiq would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn dont stop taking any medicine cold turkey because you could go through withdrawrals and loose the baby.
Avatar f tn I forgot to tell you, I was on Pristiq as well, I thought the dry mouth was from taking pristiq also. I went off of pristiq and still had the dry mouth, it actually got much worse because the thyroid was getting worse.
Avatar f tn ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.
697574 tn?1273955747 It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Since you said You said that you felt your meds working after about 3 weeks and then you started to be sad again, you need to talk to your doctor about increasing the dose of your med. If you reach the max dose and still are not feeling great...you're feeling better, just not great...talk to your doctor about adding something like Abilify. It will boost the effectiveness of your antidepressant and you will deffinitely feel better.
Avatar f tn Thank you. I've been on it for abuut three weeks now so.....does this like totally remove your sex drive, because i have certainly not had one?
Avatar f tn while doing speed you do not feel as if you are addicted as you do not go through a wd as in opiates but you do have mental craving.. speed will keep one awake and pacing and also cause hallucinations if taken enough. Look for behavior changes like lack of apposite weight loss talking a lot enlarged pupils and paranoia.. I wish you and your son the very best..
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
Avatar m tn I have been taking pristiq 50 mg since june 08 right after it came out It does great for the depression unless I take any other med such as vitamins which I also need . It has raised my blood pressure and my cholesterol, I have horrible sweating with it now they want me to take coreg, and pravachol. When I was on effexor I had rls so bad I had to take sinemet to relieve the discomfort. Has anyone else noticed that if they take other meds when taking pristiq it doesnt work.
