Does differin acne cream work

Common Questions and Answers about Does differin acne cream work

acne

Avatar m tn A couple years ago I was put on a cream that noticeably decreased and practically eradicated the acne I had. The cream contained adapelene, however, it was eventually taken off my insurance and became far too expensive. I used this cream in the winter, and as such I never had to worry about the risk of sun exposure with it. Recently I was told that Differin became over the counter, and worked well for acne. I didn't really know what was in it at the time, but it worked phenomenally!

Avatar m tn HI, so now I should I stop using differin cream issued by the dermatologist? The differin cream I applied on my face every single night for two months ago is not helping, the doctor said it will help me to clear up my oily nose and blackheads , seem not helping at all.
Avatar m tn have you tried differin its a topical medicine, but its the only thing that did work for me. the doctor perscribed it for me.. and it really works.. the eating healthy thing doesnt work. im really active and eat healthy, but i sweat pretty bad and i get pimples anyways. the natural sometimes wont work. you can also go to walmart and get the face wash called seabreeze. i think thats how its spelled but its the best kind of acne medicine and its the most natural.

1632818 tn?1299941302 (As a side note, I saw on google a lot of people were complaining about how the initial result of their acne being treated with differin was that their acne would become worse than ever. My experience is not similar to that at all, the little pimple on my chin is now gone.) I'm scared that these products might be bad for my skin too, but I don't want to make another dermatology appointment after my last experience.
Avatar m tn The best way to treat this is with a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline to kill acne-causing bacteria. In addition use a topical retinoid cream called Differin (adapalene) which is very good at clearing up the redness and soreness. Use a bland, soap-free cleanser to minimise irritation. I recommend Effaclar or Physiological Cleansing Gel by La Roche-Posay. Find a more sympathetic doctor. If untreated, acne can cause physical and psychological scars.
Avatar m tn I have been searching all over the internet and I can't find anyone with the same condition as me. It has started 2 years ago, small pimples and inflammation in my crease of nose and on chin. At this time it was not noticeable but has kept spreading since. It's near my nostril, chin and mouth. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/713/photoon20130226at737pm2.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/photoon20130226at737pm.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
Avatar f tn Ive talked to my doctor about it, and all she does is proscribe me things that never work. Ive tried most of the products that I can afford. I was just wondering if anyone out there has found a good product that may be helpful. Im willing to try pretty much anything. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I'm 18 years old. I had some acne on my face and I'm having a hard time get rid of it. (they are black spots). I went to visit my dad and when he notice my situation he gave me a scrub called GRASSROOTS SCRUB. The first time I used it it peeled the patch of the black spots off but it turn it into something just like a scrap where the redness is exposed. It has been 5 days since then, I've put special cream on the wound but it doesnt seems to be going away!!!!!
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar f tn Accutane has many potential side effects but this must be balanced against the fact that it provides the best chance of long term remission from acne. However, as your son may outgrow his tendancy for acne as adolesence passes, I agree this should be considered only if his acne continues after other treatments have been fully explored. Which antibiotic and creams has he tried? Erythromycin has a high resistance rate and oxytetracycline is usually preferable.
Avatar m tn I use an oil free non comedogenic foundation, every morning and night I've been taking Doxycycline for somewhere around 6 months now. I've also been using a topical Adapalene 0.1% Cream for about the same amount of time. I've noticed no improvement in my acne. Keeps appearing everywhere, and I've moved to having to add the Adapalene cream on my arms as well. I've only noticed an improvement on my arms. And now I have this boil on my chin. Great.
Avatar n tn So if you find anything that helps the forhead acne let me know!! For a bit I used Nivea face wash and cream and it helps a little.
Avatar n tn Dermatologists have found that the best prescription acne gel is Differin. Differin is especially effective when used in conjunction with oral treatment such as antibiotics or anti-androgens (for females only).
Avatar n tn Treatment is either with oral or topical antibiotics (to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin), topical retinoids (such as Differin or Retin-A), or anti-androgens (female patients only). If standard treatments result in failure or relapse your GP can refer you to a dermatologist for Roaccutane (oral Isotretinoin), the most powerful acne treatment available. What acne medication are you currently using? Retin-A will clear acne and heal the bruise-like scars you describe. Eloise.
Avatar n tn Dr.: I have had mild to moderate acne for over 15 years. I am now 28 and am pretty discouraged. I have tried everything there is. All the antibiotics and topicals. My acne rarely got bad, but I almost always seem to have a few zits, few ingrown hairs, few blackheads, and a few inflamed whiteheads. I do have periods when I am pretty clear, but this usually only lasts a few days. My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try.
Avatar f tn m concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help. Do you know anything about this test? Please shed some light.
Avatar n tn Before my blood test results were known he prescribed two tubes of stuff to apply to my acne that have work reasonably well. Eryacne to apply in the morning which I think is a topical antibiotic and Differin at night. Since finding out that my androgen levels are high, my GP has put me on a contraceptive pill that contains anti-androgens. This has worked wonders!
Avatar n tn The dermatologist gave me Differin Gel, and topical antibiotic cream called Benzclin, and neither of these helped. The doctor at first thought that it was Cellulitis, and put me on Bacitricin, and then Cephalexin, and neither of those helped. The hard crusty skin seems to grow underneath my cheek, and it stays there for weeks until I can't stand the pain and itching anymore? The crusty skin seems to be super glued into my cheek.
