Avatar n tn t anything visible except dandruff, so is my hair loss without scalp disease? My father has dandruff too but not hair loss. so, is my hair loss associated with tinea? Once I did take pills suggested by a dermatologist but that did not really help.
9562964 tn?1416928231 Will the selection of shampoo have results on my dandruff and hair-fall? If so suggest a shampoo to get rid of both t.he things..
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor, I am an Indian female and got long hair, i got relocated to America 5 months back and for past thre months my hair are in a bad condition i m experiencing severe hairfall, i got a little bit of dandruff and i use dandruff shampoo and conditioner twice or thrice a week,I use herbal essence shampoo n conditioner, But my hair are gettting worse day by day, i m experienceing handful of hair everytime i comb and when i wash my hair, the condition is worst.
Avatar n tn So yet again I went to a different dermatologist, who said that I was experiencing the hair loss because of the dandruff/seborrhea. Which does not make sense, since I was experiencing hair loss 1 year prior to when the dandruff started (due to use of prescribed shampoos). So he gave me CLOBEX to use for the dandruff. It made my hair loss even more SEVERE and made the dandruff worse.
Avatar m tn Use over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.Hope it helps. Hope it helps.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn If it helps, it probably is some sort of organism causing irritation and the hair loss, and something like ketoconazole cream or even lotramin would be the thing to do. I would go see another dermatologist about it before trying to treat it yourself. Dandruff shampoo should help a bit, but when I had eyebrow and face "dandruff" (seborrheic dermatitis), it was a course of ketoconazole cream that did the trick, and not the dandruff shampoo.
Avatar m tn While there is nothing much you can do to make the hair grow faster you can do a lot to improve the quality and quantity of hair. Head massage help and so does regular combing of hair. However, undue force should not be used. You could take iron and multivitamin pill. Keep the hair and scalp clean. Use mild shampoo. And, get a blood test done to see whether anemia, diabetes or hypothyroidism is the cause of hair fall. Also, rule out the possibility of dandruff as the cause.
Avatar f tn I take it you have noticed no other hair loss anywhere else on the body? Did the Vet tell you to use that shampoo? Us that the human shampoo? I am not that familiar with your breed but, as a breeder, and assuming I know the lineage of my dogs and who I got them from, I would be contacting the owners of the sires and dams to see if they would be forthcoming with any similar problems in their lines.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.
Avatar n tn I am 53 yrs old i had hair when i was younger , but now my hair is thinning out in the top and on the sides, and it itch alot. what can i do about this ? if i put vinger on the scalp will that help?
Avatar m tn I also have lots of dandruff from wearing a hat. can dandruff cause temporary hair loss? and is head and shoulders shampoo good or bad for the hair.
Avatar m tn Hi I've just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.
Avatar n tn Consider seeing someone in dermatology. I don't think thyroid dysfunctions usually come on so quickly, and I think you'd have other symptoms as well. I think fungal infections can cause hair loss and itching, and maybe lumps (depending on what the lumps actually are), and OTC dandruff shampoo wouldn't be enough to take care of it. At the very least go back to your doctor to tell him that the oil didn't work and you're getting worse.
Avatar f tn It can cause malnutrition and therefore cause hair loss, and also autoimmune disorders, including those that cause hair loss. The dandruff and scabs suggest Celiac. You can try Nizoral shampoo, Dove shampoos, Loreal Vive shampoo, and/or Neutrogena shampoos. All have been helpful for me. If your scalp is extremely oily, you can control that just by doing a vinegar-water rinse at the end.
Avatar n tn If you are a vegan or vegetarian I suggest you ask about B12 levels. Iron levels too if you feel you could be anemic. If you live or have visited a country where there could be contaminated water or food you might also want to talk to the dr about possible parasites. I don't know if any could cause hair loss, but I know some can cause anemia and lots can cause weight issues.
Avatar n tn ( it really is ruining my life, I hardly go out because of it. I use the shame shampoo. Can anyone help?
Avatar n tn Hi Hair loss due to dermatitis, itchy scalp, dandruff, oily scalp etc will reverse by treating the condition. You could be having the hair loss if your hair oil or shampoo does not suit your scalp. You can try a combination of boiled tea leaves (2-3 teaspoons in a glass of water and do not strain) with lemon juice. Apply to scalp and leave for 3-4 hours. Rinse using a mild shampoo. Repeat twice a week. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Just make sure the dandruff shampoo is okay'd by your dr. I know, crazy, it's just shampoo right? But personal care products can have things in them you shouldn't use, esp during first trimester. Motherrisk at Sick Kids can also help.
Avatar f tn Please consult a hematologist if iron deficiency is detected. Hair loss can also be due to dandruff, dermatitis, shampoos, oils, soaps, dust and dirt etc. Thyroid disorders and diabetes too could be a cause. Insomnia, stress and anxiety along with poor diet and excess of caffeine too can be the cause. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. In your case it can be iron deficiency, thyroid or diabetes or insomnia due to stress and anxiety.

Avatar n tn Sometimes an allergy to dairy products, nuts and chocolates may cause dandruff, in which case you should avoid them for about eight weeks to be able to access its effect. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
