Common Questions and Answers about Does anorexia work

anorexia

918035 tn?1274644533 I want you to remember this, it's not about being fat or thin, it's about being healthy! I realize that you are going through a difficult age right now, and sometimes things seem like they can't get any worse, but somehow they always seem to work themselves out. I suggest that you talk to your mom about what's going on, tell her exactly how you feel, not what you think she wants you to say.
Avatar m tn Looking for insight on my girl friends malnutrition. she has a history with anorexia but has managed it herself over the years. We've been together 3 years now I've seen her success with routine eating but hardly cosistent. She cycles to work, works 3-4 jobs and manages to find time to workout or swim 1-2 times a day plus consumin considerable amounts of water and eating light meals here and there. I believe these habits contribute to her insecurity of gaining weight.
401095 tn?1351391770 falling down may not be a result of the seroquel but of the low weight she is at.because of the anorexia. With anorexia often comes depression which could also be the reason for the flat affect. I have had an eating disorder and she sounds very depressed from the way you describe her. And her weight sounds dangerously low. I would be seeking inpatient eating disorder treatment at a facility that also treats other psychiatric problems.
Avatar f tn t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
Avatar f tn Yes you can have stomach pain along with many other symptoms. Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa are actually two different things.. Anorexia is simply not eating, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't WANT to eat, just a lack of eating for whatever reason. Anorexia Nervosa (what people are usually talking about when they use the term Anorexia) is when you don't eat because you think you are fat, or you have a strong fear of gaining weight.
Avatar m tn Hi. Eating disorders are so hard. I know that can be an emotional roller coaster. As to your question about weight and if the pounds are 'bad', it is hard to say. How tall are you? Have you lost weight, gained weight, maintained weight? What did your doctor say about it. I don't know enough to say if that is 'too' low or not. What do you do to work on the anorexia and bulimia? Any therapy or anything? We're here to talk!
4742865 tn?1358632836 I would really like to take this opportunity to advise all the young folk out there NOT to go down the restricting/starving road as it DOES NOT work long term. All you will end up with is a damaged body, as mine is, osteprosis (brittle bones), teeth falling out/hair also and no children because thats what starving does - stops you having kids! So................................take better care of yourselves please!
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/mental-health/eating-disorders/anorexia-nervosa/mental-health-anorexia-nervosa#1. Diagnosis of eating disorders requires you to step outside of it and ask for help. The best place to start may be to have a physical and express your eating practices and concerns over your weight at that time. If your physician agrees you have an unhealth relationship with food, they may suggest the next step for help.
Avatar f tn t eat any lunch and it was a very low point in my anorexia, and all my friends knew about it. Especially this one. I know that she knows I have anorexia. Does she think I'm stupid too? She is by no means a mean person. I tried asking her about it today but I was so nervous for her response my voice was lower than usual. She then replied with a statement about school and I shakily agreed.
Avatar f tn I think my friend is anorexic. In her family it is awkward, she is very fussy with food and gets no dinner every night. She could get some round her nan's next door but chooses not to. She does not think she is fat but at 16 she weighs under 7 stone. Her mum (who doesn't help the problem in the slightest) has told my mum that my friends periods have been all over the place and not following a normal pattern. She knows she is welcome to have food round my house.
Avatar f tn Here is some information from the March of Dimes regarding anorexia and pregnancy. It talks about the risks and encourages women to work with their doctors and therapists especially during pregnancy. https://www.marchofdimes.org/complications/eating-disorders-and-pregnancy.
Avatar m tn Hello. I'm new and terrified for a friend who says she's been diagnosed with Lyme disease. At first, I had no reason to believe otherwise. However, I'm not sure now. She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does.
Avatar f tn Anyone with a resting heart rate over 100 should be checked by a doctor, if just over 100, say even 120, I'd say in most cases it can be done on a non-emergency scheduled basis - depending on other symptoms. In your case and in the absence of any specific knowledge about anorexia I can't make a connection, but I suspect anorexia puts stress on one's body and that could be at least part of the driver for the above normal HR.
Avatar n tn There are also commercial hypoallergenic diets, such as venison, fish, or rabbit and potato that would be suitable if it turns out that your dog does have food allergy gastritis. Lastly, there are board certified Internal Medical and/or gastroenterologist veterinary specialists that should be able to help your dog. These specialists can be found at referral veterinary hospitals and Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, check the AVMA website. Holistic vets may also be able to help.
