Common Questions and Answers about Do paxil side effects go away

paxil

Avatar f tn However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar n tn My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have very very reluctantly gone on a low dose of Paxil 5mg per day due to anxiety, panic and agoraphobia. I made this decision after trying 'everything' natural and nothing really making enough difference, the years are going by and I'm geting used to this 'small' world, well had to do something. I tried Lexapro 2 years agao for 3 days and was very very ill from it. So now the Paxil is making me have a lump in my throat...will this go away?
Avatar f tn I was recently on paxil for anxiety until I realized all of the side effects that I was getting including gaining weight. I talked to my doctor and he said I could wean myself off. I was taking 20 mg. He said 10 mg for 2 weeks and then 5mg for 2 weeks, after start wellbutrin. However, I didn't make it that far. Just by one week of going Down to 10 mg I was vomiting, running to the bathroom. Nervousness, dizzy, brain zap and a fuzzy feeling in my head, sweating, VERY emotional.
944223 tn?1245869858 When you stopped Paxil did you do it under the advice of your doctor? If you don't taper of SSRIs like Paxil there can be unwanted side effects to include what you are describing in my opinion. That is why it is essential not to quit these medications cold turkey. For me, tapering slowly minimized these side effects and they will go away...keep us posted!
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar n tn d give it another a couple of weeks and see if the side effects go away. you may get even worse effects if you try and taper off them now. you didn't mention why you had been put on paxil??? if you wan to know anymore about paxil have a look on the drugs and see if anybody has posted on there. hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn also when i get off of Paxil can I just stop right away like that?
Avatar n tn However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.
983155 tn?1248700406 re in Paxil withdrawal and, because you started another drug at the same time that has a completely different mechanism of action, you have the side effects of starting another drug that may not even be an appropriate substitute for Paxil. What you should do is, if you just started the wellbutrin, stop it, go back on the Paxil, and taper off slowly, as slowly as it takes because you aren't anyone else. What you have are classic Paxil withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar m tn I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
Avatar f tn Switching from a particular medication to another can definitely have some unwanted side effects in my experience, but for me, they tended to go away with time. You were on Paxil for a long time; did your doctor slowly taper you off and switch you to Wellbutrin? Have you discussed this with him/her?
2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar f tn Hello all, I have just started Paxil for anxiety (a very low dose) and about 1 hour after I take it I start feeling really jittery, not really nervous, but like I can't sit still at all. I've only been on it for a couple of days. Has anyone else experienced this? Will it go away after a while? Help! It's driving me crazy!
Avatar f tn Could the deplin be causing this or does it just take a while for the ability to get out of his system. Do you think the twitching will go away? I would hate for him to carry this through his whole life. He's only a teenager. He never had any twitching when he was only taking paxil.
Avatar m tn I have no idea when the impotence might go away. But if you look at the list below, you may begin to understand WHY he has sexual difficulties. I know he no longer takes Paxil, which eliminates ONE potential source of the problem, but I don't know the half-life of Paxil and it could still be in his system, albiet a small quantity. That still leaves 3 of the 4 meds that have possible sexual side effects.
Avatar n tn I was recommended by my doctor that I give it 7-10 days max to see if the side effects go and if not, then for sure will need to switch to something else.
409474 tn?1202472085 Jennifer375, The "unreal" feeling that Paxil caused you, did it ever go away? When? How? I had been on Paxil for 3 days when I had my first "panic attack" and have had a constant "unreal" feeling ever since, almost like the attack never fully ended. I stopped taking paxil that day but this feeling just will not go away.
Avatar f tn I know that whenever I start, stop, or adjust the dosage of an SSRI like Paxil, I do tend to get side effects for a couple of weeks, however, I noticed they would be much worse if I was going through a stressful period or my anxiety was flaring up. I believe the side effects were probably the same, but my experience was different because I tended to relate every single thing I perceived wrong to the medication when it probably had to do a lot with my anxiety.
445725 tn?1206388767 I took my first Paxil tonight but I told my therapist that I wouldn't take it if it made me gain weight!!! Good luck to me!!!
Avatar m tn s working. I was Paxil for several years, and the side effects changed over time, and I was on imipramine for several years and the side effects changed over time and then it stopped working and I'm on Lexapro and the side effects have changed over time. Just the nature of the beast.
Avatar n tn s what will continue to happen. Has anyone had these side effects that are ongoing when you take Prestiq? Also, how do you recommend weaning off the medication. In the past, I had taken Effexor and had to wean off by breaking open the capsule and decreasing the grains. Thanks for any suggestions.
400867 tn?1371753094 I had CT scans and went to a neurologist and all that back in December so do I need to go again or just accept that it's the medication and maybe get off of it or switch YET AGAIN. I was on Paxil for years and it never gave me any bad side effects so I'm thinking maybe I should ask my doctor to just put me back on that, except I take Metoprolol for high blood pressure and I don't know if you can take that with Paxil. I'm rambling. I'm just so tired of feeling this way.
Avatar n tn I think your symptoms are side effects from Paxil; maybe your organism doesn't support this med. When I started on cymbalta I suffered severe nausea.
1330166 tn?1379548346 I've been on Paxil for somewhere around 15 years. It was the only med I could tolerate and it's done it's job by calming down my panic and helping with depression. I still have problems, but life was total hell before the paxil. I tried changing meds a couple months ago because I told my med management nurse I was always tired so she told me to take Celexa because it is purer with less side effects. Well, 6 weeks later I found myself hopeless and suicidal!
Avatar f tn I posted this question on another forum before seeing this one....here goes....I weaned myself off paxil after having been on it for 5 years...I wasn't having any more panic attacks, seemed like the thing to do, right? About 2 months later I started having muscle aches that wouldn't go away. The doctor ran a blood test and said I might have Lupus. Had to wait 4 weeks to see a specialist... did bloodwork...had to wait another 2 weeks to get the results.....no lupus.
