Common Questions and Answers about Do lexapro side effects go away

lexapro

Avatar f tn Do the side effects of Lexapro (specifically headaches) usually lessen with length of time used? I've only been on it less than a week, but have had headaches all day every day all day since I started them. OTC Tylenol or Ibuprofen don't do anything in terms of relief.
1295419 tn?1276822872 I like the effects of the Lexapro mentally, but just curious if anyone else had similar side effects and if so, if they went away or you had to start taking something else? I was on Zoloft before the Lexapro but had to stop taking it because of urinary issues it was causing. Any advice?
Avatar n tn once the medication is our of your system the side effects will have gone away, what you are experiencing is most likely due to another medical condition or a symptom of depression/anxiety/etc whatever the reason you were taking the lexapro for, if it was for depression, a common symptom of depression is weight gain/weight loss. i was on zoloft for a bit and ballooned from 140 to 160 in about 2 months, i came off it eventually and lost the weight, but i also wasnt 'depressed'.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am too experiences horrific effects from coming off 20mg Lexapro. But I can't take all the side effects anymore. I wish I knew what to do to stop the vertigo/dizziness but the only thing I can find on internet (but havent' tried yet) is a motion sickness tablet that contains a vestibular suppressant. Only thing I wanted to mention is that a friend/nutritionist has suggested I take SamE as an alternative to the Lexapro.
Avatar f tn s thru the years (at different times for each), and some were a breeze to start, others had some pretty awful side effects. The good news is...those side effects started improving for me usually by the 2nd week, and once they started getting better, they went away pretty quickly. Hang in there...keep the line of communication open with your doc and of course, we're here for you too!
Avatar n tn Getting ready to start Lexapro and I want to know the side effects you have experienced? I have been on Wellbutrion and Cymbalta and both were not for me. Made my anxiety worse. I lost weight on both but wanted to know the weight issue with Lexapro since there seems to be one. Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately after 12 plus years on Zoloft it pooped out on me a year ago... But once again it will take time for the side effects to go away stay positive!!
Avatar m tn I took one Lexapro a month ago. Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for. Obsessing about suicide. Doctor says side effects don't last that long. Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this. Does it ever go away? Where can I go? Who knows anything?
Avatar n tn However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn t have any panic attacks at all when I was on it, and no depression. The side-effects were very mild for me (compared to the side-effects I had with Prozac), and they only lasted a week or two. I stopped the Lexapro about 6 months ago because I really felt like I didn't need it. Then about 5 weeks ago I had a nervous breakdown (depression and panic), so I'm back on the Lexapro. I noticed a difference in 2-3 weeks, but the full effect can take up to 3 months to be felt.
677061 tn?1226275988 When it comes to side effects which is more benign as far as cardiac function concerns?
600041 tn?1356160129 t as bad as the side-effects I had from Prozac, and then they went away completely by week 2. I think Lexapro is definitely worth a try. If you can't tolerate the side-effects, try very slowly upping the dose (as described above). You should always speak to your doctor about changing your dose or stopping.
Avatar m tn Hiya, well i would go and have a chat with your doctor about this issue, i do understand what you mean as i was on Paxil 20mg for a long time and all was great apart from the issue of sex. I just wasn't interested at all... I did find though that if i missed a dose or two everything would be fine and the interest would come flooding back, but if you have a partner who is very active this won't work. Maybe your doc can put you on a drug that has a lessened sexual side effect.
Avatar n tn I have only been taking 5mg of lexapro for 7 days. I do not like the side effects and was wondering if anyone know's if I just stop cold turkey will I have any withdraws? Any info will help.
Avatar n tn Have you noticed any side effects on Clonazepam or Lexapro? I am on 10 mg of Lexapro for a while now and added 1 mg of Clonazepam 2 monts ago. I noticed that I get twitches in my fingers and sometimes my fingers shake a little. Does this familiar to anyone?
358304 tn?1409709492 I think that it would be ok to drop down like the doc told u to do and also on comment to the getting off i was having the same problem with celexa and he changed me to celebrex now so hope that the problem goes away he says that celebrex is less side effects of the sexual disfunction hope all goes good and keep up the great job stephanie

Avatar f tn Hi Anne, I am on Lexapro 20mg and I've been on it for 1 1/2 months now. I feel pretty good now, my first 2 weeks were a little tough, but my Dr. had switched me from Prozac after 2 weeks straight to the Lexapro. I'm not sure if my side effects were from the Prozac still in my system or if was the Lexapro- or combo of both!! But I did experience headaches for awhile. I stuck it out and the headaches did go away- I would at times take a .
Avatar f tn Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?
Avatar m tn If you took Lexapro for 15 years and apparently tolerated it well, why not go with that? Unlike the other two options, it's a known entity for you. And the fact that your headaches didn't go away after stopping it shows that it might not have had anything to do with the Lexapro. It's important to realize that the vast majority of people who take SSRI's have no problems. The likelihood of your having any serious side effects are very minimal. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
1294632 tn?1306358930 What was your reason for stopping the lexapro? was it not working for you anymore? I know the bad side effects cause I am struggling now with paxil and I am fighting to just stay on 10mg...its been 6 weeks and I am so wiped out all I can do is sit and my head feels so tight and pressure like inside it...it makes me feel so dizzy.....
