Avatar m tn I have a generalized anxiety disorder and a phobia of HIV and rabies. I went to get my blood work down and the nurse used a vacutainer to draw blood. However, the vacutainer holder was reused ( the nurse confirmed it is only the needle which is changed and not the holder as it does not come into contact with the patient) and now I think I will get HIV and I keep thinking about HIV until I get tested again at 3 months after the window period. luckily I have medicines however I hate this.

Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
Avatar f tn Constant worry, my mind doesn't slow down. I do not cry much, inward, weight loss, IBS....."food digestion"........Insomnia, Lump in throat at times. Muscle stiffness.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with GAD 16 months ago but I have experienced anxiety symtoms since I was 18 now I am 51. Therapy has done wonders for me to understand the way my mind processes anxiety symptoms and has taught me how to deal with them. Also the frequency of my panic attacks have decreased since going through therapy and coming to this forum has helped . My concern for you is your need for a Dr. you can trust. Maybe you should consider going to a Dr. that has a good reputation.
Avatar n tn I think i probably have the worse case of anxiety up 2 the point i dont think people understand cuz even the deep breathing exersices is hard and when im learning with my therapist i just cant do it a lot people think that im just looking 4 attention but its that bad they gave me the maximum dose of prozac im not getting better i relay on benzos a lot of the drs said with all the years of expierence they have seen such sever anxiety disorder i have all types of anxiety sometimes i just want 2 th
Avatar n tn I have the generalized anxiety disorder AND panic disorder. For the generalized anxiety, I take .5 mg xanex and I'm O.K. For panic attacks, I need 2 mg of xanex. It would probably be better to take valium for the generalized anxiety disorder, but I would still need the xanex to deal with panic attacks. I don't think many doctors would give both type of benzos (at least mine won't). Therefore, I have to deal with it this way.
Avatar m tn I had tests that all came back negative so I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety attacks. I found a good medication finally and I have not had an anxiety attack for a while...knock on wood. I remember as far back as being 8 yrs old and always being worried and nervous with hand tremors and racing thoughts. I feel they didn't get extremely unbearable till I was in my teens and 20's. So, yes the condition can gradually come on.
431685 tn?1324337598 I'm a 16 year old boy. I have this Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I want to tell you how I got this. When I was young, I've never worried about anything at all. I lived like any other normal children. One day, when I was on 5th grade, I went on a vacation to London. I never had a phobia before (of heights), but when I was on that airplane, I started to feel very anxious. I couldn't sleep for 20 hours when I was on that plane. I felt like I was going to die.
11638679 tn?1457985940 hi, im an 18 year old male and i was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and depersonalization. Avatar n tn hey I have same problem. start having double vision 3 years ago, searched for everything, brain MR, antibodies, hormones, everything clear. It lasted for a 6 months. for next 2 years I was ok, and it started again 2 months ago. I have some head position when I can see normal picture, but its causing muscle pain in my neck and back... :( I can live with this, but would like to know whats causing it. And then you mentioned anxiety... I was diagnosed F 40.0 or 9, not sure, week ago.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder when I was 18. I believe very strongly that I have it. But there are days when I almost feel normal. What is it like for you?
Avatar f tn My original condition was panic attacks, and yes, I did stop medication that had stopped working and went on another while working. My current condition is caused by stopping Paxil, and I will never apparently recover from it, which explains my caution about using medication that isn't necessarily appropriate. I think that stopping working, though sometimes necessary, is not a great idea, since it just leaves us with more time to suffer.
Avatar m tn My doctor says I have GAD (Generalized Eating Disorder). But Im experienceing other symptoms that Im afraid may have something more to it. Migranes, Dry heaving, nausea, Sharp pains in my chest and upper abdomen, loss of appetite. Help Please!
Avatar m tn Benzodiazepines have robust efficacy in the short-term management of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), but were not shown to be effective in producing long-term improvement overall. Although benzodiazepines are much safer in overdose than their predecessors, the barbiturates, they can still cause problems in overdose.
1390847 tn?1344657468 For me, I dont have generalized anxiety, I have a specific anxiety of throwing up (emetophobia). I wonder which is more "popular"...generalized or specialized?
Avatar f tn can you have anxiety with out the constant panic and anxiety attakes. i geuss i realy dont under stand about anxiety.
Avatar n tn I was driving today and had a headrush for a few seconds along with shortness of breath. my girlfriend and i just had a kid, but i was experiencing some anxiety before the birth. Why would i have had a head rush and shiortness of breath while driving by myself, im also seeking employment, so i guess there is some stress..
Avatar f tn ve had this anxiety for the past 3 weeks, you might have generalized anxiety disorder. have you spoken to your doctor about how you've been feeling? mild-to-moderate anxiety can be treated with exercise, relaxation techniques (ex: deep breathing), therapy, etc. more severe or persistent anxiety can be treated with antidepressants and/or anti-anxiety medication. all the best..
Avatar f tn Before I get into this, let me say that I have had social phobia, GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), and depression all my life. But this only started in 2014. I'm currently 21 years old. So this began to happen July of 2014. After living in this apartment for about 9 years we were getting evicted, which meant that we had to get rid of our three cats that we had had for closer to 10 years. One of the cats was /my/ cat that I loved very much and I still get a bit weepy thinking about her.
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin made me horribly agitated all the time. OMG! I hated it! Paxil worked, but I hated the sexual side effects, like most SSRI's. Buspar is a drug approved for anxiety, without the sexual side effects.
Avatar n tn I took it for Generalized Anxiety disorder, my mom still takes it for full blown panic attack disorder and both of us know it may help you fall asleep but it won't necessarily help you get quality sleep. Have you tried any alternatives? I understand by the way, I have depression, anxiety, PTSD, all kinds of fun stuff!
Avatar f tn t drink alcohol or use benzodiazepines for anxiety (which would cause substance-induced anxiety disorders), then you may either have generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder. For either, follow up with a a psychiatrist. Episodes of panic attacks can be very frightening and feel very dangerous and life threatening, but they're completely safe. They just suck.
Avatar m tn Hi! I was wondering if anxiety can cause chest pains? And I don't mean specifically during panic attacks because I'm aware of that. But I have generalized anxiety disorder and my biggest anxious fear is of heart related issues. Is my constant worry about my heart causing my persistent chest pain? Is that possible for normal generalized anxiety to do? I'm a 19 yr old male. Iv had 3 ekgs, 1 holter monitor and 1 echocardiogram. Everything normal.
