Common Questions and Answers about Do antibiotics cause tiredness

Avatar f tn A urine culture and urinalysis and CBC and ferritin levels suggested by Surgimenopause will help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn A week ago, I got off a course of antibiotics (Augment) that I took for 14 days. It bothered me the entire time I took it. I gradually had bloating, distention of the stomach and tingling, numbness and a 'cold' sensation started later on. This hasn't gone away and has only improved about 30% since taking probiotics and eating a lot of fermented foods and coconut yogurt with live cultures. The Kevita probiotic drinks help the most.
Avatar n tn Stomach ulcers cause pain on eating and duodenal ulcers cause pain on fasting (2-3 hrs after eating). Peptic ulcers are eroded areas in the lining of the digestive tract usually in the stomach and duodenum. The two common causes for this are: infection with helicobacter pylori and use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAID). So for the ulcer to heal and to reduce acid levels avoid NSAIDs, quit smoking, eliminate alcohol and reduce stress levels.
Avatar n tn Can antibiotics cause behavior problems in children? My 6 year old granddaughter just completed 5 day dosage of antibiotics and after completion started throwing violent tantrums at night. This is not her typical behavior pattern. She is a very bright and reasonable child. Tantrums involve throwing things, screaming, just total "out of control" behavior.
Avatar f tn It's written to be accessible to non-docs, so it's a little casual in its tone, but was the thing that clued me in a couple decades ago after I had an episode of fungal infection after my appendix ruptured [another 'stupid doctor' story I'll spare you] and I was on a lot of antibiotics for quite a while.) My LLMD was very aware of the problems long term antibiotics can cause, which is why he insisted on also taking Florastor (S. boulardii) yeast-based probiotics ....
Avatar f tn MY BACKGROUND: As a kid, I had severe asthma & allergies, to the point where I was admitted to the hospital a few times (for asthma) and once where I went into Anaphylactic shock. I ALWAYS---and I mean ALWAYS---had a kleenex in my hand because I was forever sneezing & had a runny nose. As a kid, I also suffered from tiredness a lot. TODAY: I'm 43 years old now and even though I don't always carry a kleenex in my hand, I have to have one with me whereever I go--just in case.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had a really odd metallic taste in my mouth with extreme tiredness, very dizzy and headaches but other than this I am a very healthy 22yr old. I just can't work it out??? Would just like to know if these are common symptoms for anything?
Avatar n tn I am now taking additional Vit C (plus multivitamins), but doesn't seem to do much. I generally feel crap and feel like I'm getting worse. I have less and less energy to do normal things and feel like my body is suddenly ageing very quickly (several people have remarked I look a lot older - I certainly feel it)! My GP cannot find anything wrong. The only thing I can think has changed is my job. But can stress cause all of the above?
Avatar f tn As it turned out, my blood test indicates a borreliosis or Lyme disease. I have no symptoms of any of what I read in this forums, except at one time I had taken antibiotics for a cough & I had an excruciating headache after taking the antibiotics. My doctor tells me that because I have Lyme disease that I had the headache. It's been one year ago when I experienced the horrible headache that didn't go away for weeks.

Avatar f tn I have been battling constant nasal congestion, tiredness and getting sinus infections regularly. My allergist put me on allergy medicine with no improvement after a year. I have slightly swollen lymph nodes below my ears right behind my jaw and my lymphocytes have been consistently high until my last blood test. They they were just at the highest normal. I had taken antibiotics for 10 days right before the blood test. Could that lower my lymphocytes and should I get it checked again.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the words. The crackling cleared up though I still have some upper respiratory cough on occasion. I'm a little tweaked my doc gave me the antibiotic because it looks more viral now than bacterial and I hate taking antibiotics if I can help it.

209591 tn?1267418314 I do have Lyme Disease, I was actually diagnosed with it back in January of 2007 and given a small dosage of antibiotics. We aren't really sure that they did anything to irradicate it though. I see that it can cause Meningitis and Encephalitis, I am certainly hoping that we are one step closer to finding out the root cause of all my problems. But I see that there are no treatments for either of these, which scare me.
Avatar f tn I am not a medical professional but if you are concerned about HIV, do visit the HIV forum here on MedHelp. As for the meds....Omeprazole is correct if you do in fact have will also want to mofidy your diet and lifestyle...and reduce stress as it can trigger the symptoms to flare as can the inappropriate foods. The multivitamin is good, but what you are lacking is best determined by a Dr after doing blood labs Augmentin is an anti biotic and can cause symptoms to flare....

Avatar n tn Any chronic inflammation in one’s body, regardless of the site, can also be associated with “extreme tiredness” and, of course, such a degree of tiredness can be a symptom of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The wheezing you have experienced is suggestive of the disease, asthma. This is a common disease and may have nothing to do with your other symptoms. However airway disease, such as asthma, can also occur as part of a multi-system disease.
Avatar n tn you can be 100% certain you do not have an STD and never did. 1) The odds of any infection from the exposure you describe were low from the oral exposure and zero, for practical purposes, for the genital exposure. 2) No STD can start to cause symptoms in less than 36-48 hours, certainly not the next morning. It simply never happens. 3) No STD causes the symptoms you describe. (That includes herpes.) 4) You tested negative for all STDs.

Avatar n tn I cannot continue like this, but I don't know what to do next. I am told I'm fine, but I don't feel fine. I do have terrible allergies, but up until a few years ago, I was able to control them with Zyrtec. I doubt an allergist can help me, unless there is a triple strength Zyrtec I can take. Can anyone relate? Anyone have a treatment idea for this?
Avatar m tn About 5 days after this I started getting cold like symptoms aching muscles tiredness etc. and two days later swollen red and painful tonsillitis. I went to dr. Even with it cleared up I still do not feel right. I have difficultly sleeping, upper back pain, tiredness, tingling in my hands and feet and have just felt run down. My heart rate has been odd too, during the pneumonia it would go into the 100's.
