Hi Paula, I have read many of these post but have not posted myself. I live in Indiana 5 minutes from Louisville. The closest Chiari center I have found is at the Mayfield Clinic in Ohio. There is also a Chiari clinic in WI. However, neither will accept me because I carry Medicaid as a secondary insurance. I have not been able to locate a doc on the suggested Chiari doc list that is near our area. Please let me know if you find one!

I can tell you that The Christ Hospital in cincy is excellent! We live in Louisville KY and our cardio sent my hubby there and Dr. K was wonderful and very skilled. If there is a proceedure or a option he will know it. There are some things they can do such as stenting or laser treatment to promote vessel growth.

Life is so good! I would like to recommend Dr. Todd Shanks in Louisville KY as a wonderful Chiari Surgeon! His bed side manner is a bit blunt and sometimes can come of a little brash but ultimately he was very diligent, skillful, knowledgeable, and focused on my care! I might have been a little stand offish at first due to fear of this surgery; because lets face it, this is not an easy decision to make!
I just had mine 4-13 but I used Dr. Levin in Louisville ky. He is the best! First dr to have sucess with it and the only one with a special microscope.

Not really a question but just wanted to let everyone know that I have FINALLY found a wonderful neurosurgeon here in Louisville, Ky! His name is Dr. Finizio & he is with Norton Hospital. He seems very knowledgable & his bedside manner is great. Will be doing a cine mri to decide if theres enough csf flow to put of decompression until i get my herniated disk replaced. Its good to be near a computer again! Missed this group!
