Dilantin for wound healing

Common Questions and Answers about Dilantin for wound healing

dilantin

Avatar m tn It will absorb the weeping - a healing reaction, by the way unless the weeping fluid is cloudy, thick, and quite uniquely painful with redness and swelling around your wound, most importantly has an offensive smell - you are in the healing stage, and with a powdered topical med forming an immediate scab you will be fine. Try to keep it dry...if you wet it during showers, gently blot dry immediately, disallowing the new scab to dissolve.
Avatar f tn 7 days after i starting bleeding from my wound, on the 10th day i went to get my staples removed. I had a blood clot. my wound came open and had to be packed for a week. my wound is still open and I have drainage. and a smell is comming from it. It has been almost four weeks since my surgery. the doctor said that if it didn't close inone week, the were going to pack sponge in me to help close. Is this safe. Getting depressed!!!!
Avatar f tn Competition between several healing areas for the substrates required for wound healing impairs wound healing at all sites. L = Low temperature: The relatively low tissue temperature in the distal aspects of the upper and lower extremities (a reduction of 1-1.5°C [2-3°F] from normal core body temperature) is responsible for slower healing of wounds at these sites.
Avatar m tn Are their any treatments you know of that can help the wound heal faster? How long does it take for a wound like this to close? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Also poor circulation just adds to the problem of the wound healing. You can probably expect a longer wound healing time and as the dr said debridement if needed. Hope this helps and good luck.
Avatar n tn Should I expect things to get worse before healing. Any light activity aggravates my wound. My doctor is on vacation for a month and I am petrified. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Is this wound infected or healing? There's yellow gooey thing on top of my wound. Is it a scab or infection? I'm currently under Augmentin antibiotics and also i'm putting fucidin on top of my wound as suggested by my surgeon last two days. The wound is not pain and the yellow gooey thing is just there and cannot be wiped off. It's hard. No discharge as well. I didnt wanna go back to my doc as of now cos of the charges. Appreciate the help!! Picture: https://s.yimg.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how long would a normal time be for healing from a wound? My dog seems to have a very slow healing time. She has hurt her paw before, which took forever to heal. And now the scab above her eye still isn't all the way healed. Is there something I can do to help her? It doesn't seem to bother her, but I want it to heal faster, so there won't be much room for infection or anything else to happen.
Avatar m tn Hi specialmom and thank you for answering! I attend a wound clinic every fortnight and am using medipore and aquacel,. I just shower every other day as they say to keep the bandage on as long as possible although this is now casing irratation as its been so long. The last time I was in the hospital last year the doctor told me to use a womans pad instead of bandages but this isnt practical as I'm not sure how that would protect and keep the wound clean.
Avatar m tn initially i left that as it is but the wound was not healing faster (adding to the problem after the bath the skin which is kind of healing i.e turing brown comes of and skin is red ) so far no puss. the doctor also suggests to apply hibi cleanser.
Avatar m tn I started having seizures when I was 12 yrs. and they put me on dilantin and other meds. they never got under control so good until I went to a new doctor (because I moved) and at that time I was about 38, and the doctor did a MRI and other test. He then said to me the first thing we have to do is get you off of dilantin. He showed me that that pill was eating up half of my brain (it is called cerebellar atrophy). He slowly put me on different levels of Keppra and I haven't been better.
Avatar m tn Also diabetes leads peripheral neuropathy, atherosclerosis etc which make wound healing troublesome. You need a culture sensitivity of wound scraping to know what antibiotics will suit the infection. If there is underlying dermatitis, then this needs to be taken care of. If there is severe atherosclerosis preventing blood supply to wound, then this needs to be diagnosed by angiograms. It is better to get this treated at a wound clinic.
Avatar n tn Hi mommies... Is there any medicine for healing stitches after birth...
Avatar f tn I have no idea if you can. I really think this is a question for your doctor.
Avatar m tn I had applied bandaid at night and removed it in the morning however it still had the wound there that was healing. For 2-3 days it was paining and then the pain stopped however I could see the small cut that was there on the wound. 6 days post this incident, I picked up a roadside prostitute in my car. I was a little drunk but still in my senses (God's Grace) so did not do any kind of sex.
Avatar f tn , Nutrition should be with lots of energy, vitamins and proteins to promote healing, lots of oral fluids. Obesity can also delay wound healing. Since the bony flap is not taking up and there are no signs of healthy wound healing and new bone formation, she required exploration and reconstruction of the bony flap. Get her a reconstructive surgeon consult immediately to evaluate the status of bony flap and reconstruction under general anesthesia. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn or maybe you have other problems like diabetes or hypertension that is hindering the proper healing of wound. Nutritional status is also important for good wound healing, make sure you have enough calorie and protein intake for the day. Make sure to discuss all of these possibilities with your surgeon. I hope your biopsy will heal completely soon, though It's good to hear that the result of the biopsy is just fibroadenoma. Regrads and God bless...
Avatar m tn A month ago I was hospitalized for an infected wound in the back of my head as well as an abscess in my neck. Both were drained. Had taken a couple of antibiotics during my treatment. Now I've been off of antibiotics for a couple of weeks and my wound took a long time to close so I was given an antibiotic ointment. The wound closed as the scar is about the size of a nickle or quarter. but I accidentally wiped off what it appears to be an early form of scar in the middle of the entire scar.
Avatar m tn t apply petroleum jelly. If, for some reason, undesirable bacteria were to enter your wound, the jelly would simply trap it in the wound. If you're having issues with the bandage sticking to the wound, a small amount of jelly won't hurt, but don't slather it on. Most sources state the consultation with a medical professional is needed, but I understand why you'd forego that if you're healing and not seeing any sign of infection: https://www.drugs.
Avatar m tn So I've gotten an abscess surgery and its been healing well for the past four weeks but I've noticed that the wound has suddenly gotten a bit bigger. The area around the wound is also purple/white. Why did my open wound get bigger after healing so well?? Thank you.
Avatar n tn About eleven days ago,I got a wound at the bottom of my right foot .Touched dirty rain water carelessly, the wound infected unfortunately. Now the wound is large as a coin, not deep( but flesh can be seen)but swell ,just at the center of my foot sole(right under the ball of foot) As you know, the wound area is very sensitive to pain .I get to local clinic to change wound dressing everyday, the nurses usually use Iodine cotton to wash the wound for a few minutes,It's Too Painful!
Avatar n tn If you have diabetes, that can lead to poor healing as well- have you ever been tested for this? What are you doing to treat it?
