Avatar n tn The Farrell Valve, Gastric Pressure Relief Device, is designed to help patients who suffer from poor gastric motility, pain and bloating. The Farrell Valve maximizes enteral feeding by providing a channel to constantly decompress the stomach, allowing the stomach to empty at its own pace. By allowing a reservoir channel, the clinician can maximize enteral feeding and minimize the need for TPN.
Avatar n tn You can try to make different sorts of milk shakes including sugars and fibers from fruits and vegetables and proteins from milk and eggs but it is very difficult not to get too much sugars... and you will miss vitamins and minerals. And you will not have a clear idea of how many calories are you giving.
Avatar m tn Early enteral feeding should be started.[2] Physicians should also keep in mind not to deprive patients of regular meals and should organize examinations and procedures in a way that will not keep their patients starving for long. Avatar m tn Right now I am actually on Keppra and Topamax and they have both kept me seizure free for over 3+ years and I have no side effects. My memory isn't that great but I'm not sure I can blame the drugs. The two of those as a combo, for me, are wonderful!

Avatar n tn I took 2 old, and 1 new for about a month, then 2 new and 1 old, and am now on 3 new dilantin 100mg. every day. I have been on this for about 2 weeks, and I have not had any problem at all. I do feel kinda nervous about it, though, and never leave home without my medical card in my wallet. (something I never even had to think about with the old dilantin). How about you? Are you on the new capsules? If so, how are you doing?

I have a call in to our family Dr. and waiting for a return. We were being seen by a Neurologist, but she abruptly cancelled my husbands January appt. and said she was leaving town for a month, and did not refer us to any other Dr. so we saw the family Dr. who is prescribing.
Avatar n tn Two meta-analyses (an analytic study combining the results of several clinical trials) done by Sirven, et al (2004) and Tremont-Lukats, et al (2008) showed no benefit to giving anti-epileptic drugs in general, and Dilantin in particular, to patients with brain tumors in order to prevent an initial seizure. Your husband may have an option not to take Dilantin since there's no difference in outcome. You can check out the articles yourself: www.mayoclinicproceedings.

My Dr took me off of Dilantin and no more problems. I was on Dilantin over twenty years and i was scared. Let me know what happens because depending on your dosage you would be off of it or almost by now. I wish you the best.
542332 tn?1214592336 My neurosurgeon has me changing from neurontin to dilantin and I think the dilantin may be helping; my pain level has decreased yesterday and today. I will see him again on July 7 and hopefully I will be able to report a good response to the dilantin. If the drugs do not work then he wants to try injection of glycerol. I will post again after my next visit with my neurosurgeon.
