Avatar f tn hi, i want to ask you that which of the digoxin or verapamil are better for prophylactic treatment of paroxysmal superaventricular tachycardia for sone one who was treatet with intravenous adenosine?
Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
Avatar m tn hey everyone, I'm 24 years old, very healthy, work out on a constant basis and eat healthy. I've always had a decent amount of ejaculation and it was very forceful and would "shoot" out. However, about a year ago I began to notice that the amount of ejaculate didn't seem as much and my orgasms are no longer forceful whatsoever. It does not shoot out like it did and it pretty much drips out weakly.
Avatar n tn The distribution of breast cancer is related to the tissue volume of the breast. The breast tissue volume is slightly greater in the left breast than the right, which may account for a slight predominance of cancer in the left breast. The left breast may have as much as 2-3% more tissue volume than the right but not always. Some studies have shown the frequency of breast cancer higher in the right breast. Avatar f tn The volume of distribution of ribavirin is large (2000 L/kg) and the length of time the drug is trapped varies greatly from tissue to tissue. The mean half-life for multiple doses in the body is about 12 days, but very long-term kinetics are dominated by the kinetics of RBCs (half-life 40 days). RBCs store ribavirin for the lifetime of the cells, releasing it into the body's systems when old cells are degraded in the spleen. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn 10cm x 7cm area of focal asymmetry w/ amorphous microcalcifications with regional distribution and architectural distortion I have a biopsy scheduled for next week, and I am starting to move to the idea that the results are not going to be good
Avatar f tn The average increase has been variously reported from 2-fold to 5-fold, with individual half-lives over 500 hours reported. There is also an increase in volume of distribution, and average clearance decreases by almost half. Mean half-life is also prolonged with hepatic fibrosis to 90 hours (range 66 - 104 hours), with chronic active hepatitis to 60 hours (range 26 - 76 hours), and with acute viral hepatitis to 74 hours (range 49 - 129).
Avatar f tn This effect is likely to be caused by reduction of sympathetic activity or increase of parasympathetic activity. Increase of systolic blood pressure during sleep is probably caused by the positive inotropic effect of the drug. Oxygen saturation levels are measured before nebulisation to check the amount of oxygen required to be administered . After the process , the levels are checked to see whether the required levels of above 95 % or more have been reached or not . Hope this helps you .
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar m tn Ferritin (iron storage) is considered the gold standard for diagnosing iron deficiency however they did not include this test on your labs. Your iron serum is borderline low. Elevated RDW (Random Distribution of red cell Width) can be due to vitamin B12 anaemia, folate anaemia or a concurrent iron anaemia with another type of anaemia. Folate is trapped in an unusable form without vitamin B12 which is why low or deficient folate is a common finding with vitamin B12 deficiency.
Avatar f tn I recently got a copy of my full blood count results which shows the following abnormalities: Red blood count (RBC) - HI - 5.09 Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) - LO - 81 Mean corpusc. haemoglobin (MCH) - LO - 25.7 Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) - HI - 14.
Avatar n tn RDW is red cell width distribution and is a test which checks the size of red cells. A high variation in the red cell size is reported as a high RDW. High RDW can be an indication of liver disease, hemolytic anemia, iron deficiency anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, thalassemia, etc. The RDW values are correlated with the mean corpuscular volume to obtain an idea of which factor is causing the RDW to rise.
Avatar n tn To have your MCH blood test results explained you would need to visit the doctor. MCH is determined by the percentage of red cells and the amount of hemoglobin present in blood. An MCH blood test is carried out to determine hemoglobin in the red corpuscles to diagnose anemia. MCH is calculated and expressed as picograms or pg per cell. The MCH blood test normal range is 27.5 to 33.5 pg. In an MCH blood test, low levels indicate iron deficiency or anaemia.
751470 tn?1268498509 For the last couple of weeks, he has been complaining of indigestion and a feeling of fulness on eating even a small amount of food. He has a history of diabetes, approx. 15 years. (I don't remember exactly.) Right now, he is still at the hospital, and on medication to reduce his ascites. The doctor has informed us that a liver transplant is not advisable, given my dad's age. My dad has A+ blood, and my brother and I have O+.
Avatar f tn s common use is for Afib and Aflutter, beta and calcium channel blockers are the more modern medicine of choice. Digoxin has potentially dangerous interactions with verapamil, and amiodarone, and a number of other commonly prescribed drugs.
Avatar m tn Left Main 0, Right 168, Left Anterior Descending 0, Circumflex 1, and Posterior Descending 0. Is it important that the calcium is nearly all in the Right Coronary Artery? Thank you for this wonderful Forum.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
503607 tn?1275671579 t get a hotel room anywhere in the downtown core because of the G20 summit - security and volume of traffic already building up. Glad my procedure is tomorrow and not next Friday I have mentioned I don't want to be bumped again - don't want to go thru all this medication withdrawal again. Thank you all for your support and God Bless You.

Avatar n tn I have been taking digoxin .25mg to help control them and 2 baby aspirin daily. I have just started waking out of a SOUND sleep with heart rate in excess of 126 bpm w/ bp146/98 (last night). I will then start shaking. I did goto the ER a few weeks back when my heart rate was 158 bpm and a bp of 198/110, the EMT said I was having an anxiety attack. When I got to the hospital they ran tests and noted that I had no level of digoxin in my blood.
