Avatar f tn The benadryl might, as it can, be causing you worse tachycardia? Diagnosed by tilt table with P.O.T.S. in 2004, I suspect I have that form of P.O.T.S. (hyperadrenergic) due to various abnormal catecholamine type numbers in a number of lab tests. Medicines that were tried and discontinued for either side effects or not helping- lopressor, florinef, midodrine, and verapamil. Currently, I am not being treated by any physician for my P.O.T.S..
Avatar f tn I have been through Digitalis and Digoxin toxicity. The classic sign of toxicity is seeing 'cracked walls'. I too had the upset stomach and vomiting, but it did not take very long for that to happen to me; I never lasted anywhere near 5 weeks. I would question if something else is going on with that. The other symptoms you describe can also happen as a result of the lower HR and BP.
Avatar f tn I am curious as to why your cardiologist would have you on digoxin. It is used today mostly for atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. It has been surpassed by beta blockers and/or calcium channel blockers as a first line choice. Did you perhaps experience syncope before your ablation? High ventricular rate leads to insufficient diastolic filling time. Digoxin slows down the conduction in the AV node and increases its refractory period, and it can reduce the ventricular rate.
390388 tn?1279636213 He went so far as to call my cardiologist which I am scheduled to see today anyway and now I have to have the blood test to check for toxicity levels of Digoxin. Not a big deal in the end but it makes one wonder sometimes.
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar f tn Scheduled another cardio-vert for this Wed Mar 4, and will start on Tikosyn and be monitored in hospital for 2-3 days. Also said I would need to be on Digoxin and would fax that Rx in.... he "forgot".....I called the service Sat.& Dr. in surgery his PA said he would call back in 2 hours.... but I didn't hear from him. Today I learned he called it in, but didn't notify me, the pharmacy did. The P.A. said A-Fib was a "nuisance" not dangerous.....
Avatar n tn is it ok to take furosemide 20mg with diltiaz er120mg,digoxin 0.25mg and metoprolol tart 50mg and a bayer aspirin 325mg ?
Avatar f tn I received a letter in the mail from the pharmaceutical company stating they accidentally put a double dose of the medication digoxin I was taking since my surgery because of an irregular heartbeat. I feel that this is the reason I now need these valves replaced but all the doctors feel differently. I would like to know if anyone has had 3 valves replaced at one time? I had rheumatic fever when I was young and that's why I needed the valves replaced the first time.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
391561 tn?1227047215 Icd implanted last thurs and Dr adds amiodarone to my list of meds. THe toxicity of this drug on the body and organs is devistating. I would have to be on my death bed to agree to these side effects and potential for permanent damage. I try to go for a walk with my wife on sat and last FIVE houses, and have to go back home. How in the world is it possible for my health to have taken a nose-dive so quickly.
Avatar n tn I have seen green halos before due to digoxin toxicity....You don't happen to be on that drug are you? I remember it was awful....Regardless, if you keep seeing green, please see someone about it.
Avatar n tn I apologize if this is not the best suited forum for this question but it was difficult to find a more appropriate topic. I am a hypothyroid patient but my treatment levels are optimal (low TSH and FT-4 & FT-3 both at between mid-range and high-normal). With my hypothyroid treatment staying optimized, I still began to develop worsening symptoms of muscle weakness, headach and neurological types symptoms.
Avatar m tn He was concerned because digoxin would not have been his choice of treatment and he said I should have also been taking aspirin or a blood thinner. That same day I had to back to the office for an echocardiogram and treadmill stress test. The echo turned out fine but eight minutes into the stress test my heart rate peaked at 275 bpm. The nurses in the office had never seen a heart rate that high. Two doctors reviewed the EKG results and said they would have to consult an EP specialist.
Avatar n tn I hope you are taking digitalis glycosides (digoxin) as they play an important role apart from the other therapies in improving the EF. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.

Avatar f tn I would stay away from any type of herbal remedies. There is no regulating, or monitoring of herbs, and when mixed with some medications, can be very dangerous. People hear Herb or Natural and assume they're safe, and they're not.
Avatar f tn and weigh between 125 to 130 pounds. My opthalmologist prescribed Diamox ER 500mg twice daily for treatment. I was informed by my pharmacist when going to fill my prescription yesterday that because of my Sulfa Drug Allergy that there is a possibility that I may experience a reaction to the Diamox prescribed. The pharmacist had stated that Diamox is a level 2 derivative of Sulfa and that the chance of an allergic reaction is there but small.
