Avatar f tn Diastolic blood pressure significantly decreased and systolic blood pressure significantly increased during overnight sleep in the digoxin phase .Heart rate decreased in the overnight sleeping phase . Digoxin significantly decreases diastolic blood pressure during overnight sleep in patients with congestive heart failure. This effect is likely to be caused by reduction of sympathetic activity or increase of parasympathetic activity.
4703993 tn?1379768388 My electrophysiologist is having problems finding the right medication to treat my POTS and IST. I am currently on Midodrene for my blood pressure. For my heart we have tried Atenolol 12.5 (really small dose, but even with 10mg of Midodrene 3x a day my blood pressure would drop too low and the side effects were unbearable) .. so he concluded that I have a sensitivity to beta blockers.
Avatar n tn Digoxin is a medication which is used for heart rate control in atrial fibrillation, It has been shown to keep people out of the hospital successfully, but has never been shown to decrease mortality. So if yous top taking it you may have worsening heart rate control, palpitations, possibly pass out (syncope), and could develop a breathlessness or even a cardiomyopathy. Speak to your cardiologist about the reasons why you want to spot this medication.
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar n tn Hi, The doctor has rightly prescribed you lisinopril which plays an important role in cardiomyopathy in improving the functioning of the heart. I’ll also suggest the use digoxin for you which tend to improve the ejection fraction of heart and also improve the symptoms of congestive heart failure and it’s especially used for patients who have low blood pressure. Apart from that, I’ll suggest a low intake of salt and water. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
Avatar f tn I'm pregnant and the baby has svt.. So I'm taking it for baby lol it seems to be working for him so far! They did an echo today.
Avatar m tn I am surprised they had you taking Digoxin and Amiodarone together??? I don't care for either drug, myself. I took Amiodarone for 9 months for SVTs. I stopped the drug because of the nasty side effects. The skipped beats were gone by then and haven't returned since.
Avatar n tn During af I got bisoprolol (not good, stopped), Digoxin and Dilmin (not good, stopped). Digoxin and atenolol were left until I got Multaq a week before electric cardioversion. Atenolol has been very good for me to prevent tachycardia for tens of years. Most betablockers are not good for me. Calcium blockers are not good either, eg. Verapamil is forbidden. I don't know Crestor and Cartia. Do you know to what group of medicines they belong? Now I have been without af over nine months.
2021358 tn?1328748117 You don't know how thankful I am for your reply. I hope you don't mind me asking you some questions about your heart. I can barely walk without it going out of rhythm. My pulse is going higher just upon standing now. It's the pain that scares me. When I walk across the room, it feels like I am having heart attack. The pain is severe. It goes through my heart into my back, up through my chin and down my arm. I am waiting to next Thursday to go to Dr.

Avatar f tn My daughter-in-law who is 23 weeks pregnant was told that the baby's heartbeat is 220. They are monitoring her with a high-risk specialist and a pediatric cardiologist. Over the last 3 weeks, the heartbeat has remained high, but stable. How dangerous is this? What are the odds of it damaging the baby's heart and/or the baby not making it? They have talked about Digoxin if the heartbeat goes up to 260. What would that mean for the mother's health?
Avatar f tn To the layman that I am, it seems to me that taking Digoxin for your particular heart arrhythmia is like using Malox to treat stomach ulcers when there are numerous and more effective front line medications to treat it.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
Avatar n tn is it ok to take furosemide 20mg with diltiaz er120mg,digoxin 0.25mg and metoprolol tart 50mg and a bayer aspirin 325mg ?

Avatar m tn However, I can say that viral myocarditis can damage the heart significantly to the point that the heart muscle does not recover completely. For our other readers, myocarditis is a condition in which the heart muscle demonstrates inflammation and damage to the cells. The most common reason for this in children is due to a viral infection.
Avatar n tn Your heart rate is low, but it is not considered a problem when being treated for a heart disorder. My doctor said the lower the better, but if there are side effects then the medication should be adjusted. Lowering the body's pulse effectively means the heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood throughout the body, it becomes a more efficient organ.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your information. All they told me is that I have SVT and that in the upper chamber of my heart there is a nerve that changes the route of the signal that tells the lower part of my heart to beat. When this happens the upper chambers quiver and it does not pass blood through my heart. I get dizzy and the last one started at 3:30 pm and escallated to the last severe one at 1:30 am. I was totally exhausted and I had a severe headache.
