Avatar m tn If the ejection fraction is below 30%, it signifies cardiac failure. The ejection fraction is a useful measure of left ventricular performance. The normal range is 63-77% for males and 55-75% for females. It reflects the pumping capacity of the heart. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn If the ejection fraction (LVEF) is below 35%, it is diagnosed as cardiac failure. The ejection fraction is a useful measure of left ventricular performance. The normal range is 63-77% for males and 55-75% for females. It reflects the pumping capacity of the heart. Due to this the heart is not able to pump adequate blood to different organs in the body. In this process the kidneys too receive inadequate blood and to compensate for this start retaining sodium.
Avatar n tn Hello I have a question, I have been diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, Atrial Fib (AF), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)and an Enlarged Heart back in 1998. at that time my (EF) Ejection fraction was well over 60%. I went to my Doctor the other day and found out that my (EF) is at 30 - 40% from a EKG/Echo cardiogram report that dated back to 07/19/2005 now three years have gone by and now I'm worried.
Avatar n tn My dad has been detected with low Ejection Fraction of 25% through an echo test, also doctors say theres a leakage in his left valve, though the doctor also mentioned that the leakage is not that much that he should go in for surgery immediately. Now, he is kept on beta blockers and diagoxin. I would like to understand the follwoing: - How sever is the problem, can it lead to sudden cardiac arrest? - Can his EF be improved through medicines or he needs a surgery?
4237975 tn?1351595953 So, here the posterior wall is affected. This slow movement can cause a decreased ejection fraction, which reflects the pumping capacity of the heart. The normal range is 63-77% for males and 55-75% for females. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Can I still have any open or by-pass surgery with low (20%) ejection fraction? would such procedure improve my ejection fraction? Would a procedure such as E-valve (clipping of the mitral valve through catheter) be of any benefit in my situation (moderate to severe mitral regurgitation and low EF)? Would fixing the mitral valve improve ejection fraction? Thank you and sorry for the many questions.
Avatar n tn Steroids are given for sarcoidosis. Treatment for low ejection fraction is focused on reducing symptoms and preventing the progress of the disease involved from worsening. Ejection fraction can be improved by lifestyle changes, medications and procedures, such as the insertion of an implantable defibrillator (ICD) if indicated.
Avatar f tn The basic cause for the diminished ejection fraction needs to be treated for the ejection fraction to improve. Ejection fraction can be improved by lifestyle changes, medications and procedures, such as the insertion of an implantable defibrillator (ICD) if indicated.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed w/ dilated Cardiomyopathy 12 years ago w/ an ejection fraction of 25%. They thought the cause of it was from alcoholism. I have been sober since and began taking prescribed Lisinopril and Coenzyme Q10. My ejection fraction went up to 40% and stayed that way for years. 2 months ago I began to have severe breathing problems and the Echo showed my ejection fraction was reduced to 35%.
Avatar m tn The value could be the ejection fraction. The ejection fraction is a useful measure of left ventricular performance. The normal range is 63-77% for males and 55-75% for females. It reflects the pumping capacity of the heart. Your value of 49% is below the normal range, which could be due to causes like myocardial infarction or valvular disorders or sometimes hypertension. So, further evaluation can help to detect the cause and therapy is based on the results.
304450 tn?1192686333 I was wondering if anyone knew of and med that are good for increasing Ejection Fraction. I have been on Coreg for 4 years and my EF had decreased some. Please help if you know. My doctor has talked about adding low dose of Diovan. but that concerns me because my bp sometimes runs low with the coreg.
Avatar f tn That will estimate all heart wall dimensions, it provides the amount of blood pumped out with each stroke (medically termed ejection fraction), Also, heart valves are evaluated both structually and functionally, heart structure integrity, etc.
Avatar n tn Hi, The doctor has rightly prescribed you lisinopril which plays an important role in cardiomyopathy in improving the functioning of the heart. I’ll also suggest the use digoxin for you which tend to improve the ejection fraction of heart and also improve the symptoms of congestive heart failure and it’s especially used for patients who have low blood pressure. Apart from that, I’ll suggest a low intake of salt and water. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
Avatar n tn Hi, the basic cause for the diminished ejection fraction needs to be treated for the ejection fraction to improve. In your case the cardiomyopathy. Ejection fraction can be improved by lifestyle changes, medications and procedures, such as the insertion of an implantable defibrillator (ICD) is indicated, with an EF of 25-30%.
Avatar m tn Third, if the ejection fraction was measured at 43%, that is low and is not normal. A normal ejection fraction in a young child with a structurally normal heart should be 55-65%. Although it is consoling that more recent ejection fractions have been higher, this certainly could point to your child having a predisposition to cardiomyopathy.
Avatar m tn how can i increase my ejection fraction which is 30/35 at rest and 45/47 at stress i have no blocked arteries no high blood pressure dont smoke or drink and not over weight iam 62 years old never had a heart attack to my knowledge, and have no symtoms i do have a mitryal valve prolapse, there recomending a difibulator . any sugg of how to get my eg up iam on 5mg of lisinoprill and 12.
Avatar n tn Would ignoring them lead to more serious problems like ventricular tachcardia? My heart function is good with ejection fraction 60% to 65%, and normol exercise tolerance. My heart rate is 55 beat, however, at night it slows to mid forties.
Avatar f tn My husband had a small heart attack about 3 years ago and landed in the ICU in heart failure with an ejection fraction in the low 30's. You didn't mention how long you loved one has had the low ejection fraction. My husband was told to start out walking 10 min. a day. He gradually increased it to 45 min. a day over a period of a few weeks, plus other routine things around the house. The doctor said at first that sometimes the ejection fraction goes back up in 3 or 4 months.
Avatar n tn My father is suffering from severe ejection fraction problem. It is only of 15%. Its a winter time in Delhi, India. My father is facing number of problems like shorten breath, can't sleep, feets are always swelled. He is facing this problem since April 2008. We have his treatment from All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). He is on medicines completely as doctor says there is no treatment for this disease and also poor survival. However, we are not at all satisfied by his treatment.
Avatar f tn how is seriuous is the condition if I was diagnosed (thry EEG) with the follwoing: 1. Borderline concentric left venticular hypertropy. ejection fraction =>55%. The transmitral spectral doppler folw patter suggestive of impaired LV relaxation. 2. Borderline left atrial enlargement. 3. There is trace mitral regurgitation, trace triscupid regurgitation & aortic regurgitation. 4.
Avatar n tn At what point {ejection fraction}is a heart transplant considered? How low can the ejection fraction go with the pt still alive?
Avatar m tn m having exercise intolerance, low ejection fraction of 45 (tested last year and probably lower now), dysautonomia and pots... My symptoms are chronic and worse over time, they are mainly irregular heart rate (always high at rest and sit in the morning around 120 and as soon as I walk around the house and take my shower it can run as high than 160...
Avatar n tn The actual term you are looking for is ejection fraction. A doctor will need to monitor such a low ejection fraction closely.
Avatar m tn Several years ago I was diagnosed with enlarged heart and was told I had an ejection fraction of 35%. I didn't understand this and asked what it meant. My doctor told me that it means that one day I may need a new heart. In May of 2007 I had a Thallium stress test and an ejection fraction of 41%. After the stress test I almost didn't make the 45 minute ride home. I couldn't keep my eyes open I was swerving all over the highway but luckily I made it home.
