4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
Avatar n tn Digitalis toxicity may also result in persons who take the drug and who have low levels of magnesium in the body. Risks include taking digitalis medications such as digoxin or digitoxin along with medications that interact with digitalis such as quinidine, verapamil, amiodarone, and others. Reduced kidney function will cause digitalis to build up in the body rather than be removed normally through urine.
Avatar f tn Digoxin (Lanoxin) -- Low blood levels of magnesium can increase negative effects from digoxin, including heart palpitations and nausea. In addition, digoxin can cause more magnesium to be lost in the urine. A doctor will monitor magnesium levels in people taking digoxin to see whether they need a magnesium supplement. Diuretics -- Two types of diuretics known as loop (such as furosemide or Lasix) and thiazide (including hydrochlorothiazide) diuretics can lower magnesium levels.
564169 tn?1216326177 htm where it states that theophylline depletes the body from potassium and B6, and that the low potassium may be an indicator of low magnesium also. I sent this information to my doctor and ask to have my levels of potassium, magnesium and B6 checked. He agreed to check the potassium and magnesium in a month, but told me that he did not know of a reliable test for the B6 and to buy an over the counter supplement of it and start taking it.
Avatar n tn Do you think is something I should be worry? I looked online about the drug interaction and they say could be deadly. I am very worry. Any advice of what I can do? Do I gonna be okay? How long apart I can take those two medications?
Avatar f tn Another problem is that most of these brain drugs use the same channel as magnesium to get to the brain, which makes magnesium not be absorbed. Since magnesium is essential to relaxation of the nerves and blood vessels this can be exacerbating your migraines as well. Food for thought.
725975 tn?1240007102 I have been dealing with what are at time severe PVS for more than 10 years. First, you have to learn to not panic. The anxiety attack makes them much worse. Breath in... breath out.. I have found taking a twice daily dose of CoQ-10 and L-arginine helps me significantly. I also take a daily does of potassium and magnesium. You need to get a test of your electrolytes.
Avatar f tn I take no prescription medication, so I know it is not an interaction. Everything I read says magnesium is good for headaches. Any thoughts?

Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.

Avatar n tn magnesium glycinate is also known as chelated magnesium and magnesium amino acid. Glycine is an amino acid to which magnesium is attached. This way magnesium can easily penetrate the cell membranes. Always start with small doses and work your way up to maximum effectiveness, for example take 200mg every 8 hours to start.
Avatar n tn It is not an uncommon EKG tracing, often meaningless and requires supporting evidence for any dx. There are heart drugs e.g., digoxin, quinidine, tricyclics, and many others and there can electrolyte abnormalities of potassium, magnesium, calcium that will cause an non-specific ST- The electrical impulses follow a conductive pathway and non-specific intra ventricular indicates there may be a right side interruption (in matter discussed, can be left side) to an impulse causing dyssynchrony.
Avatar f tn The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
Avatar f tn I have some Afib and some PAC's, my doc said Digoxin and Toprol do the same thing, I chose the Digoxin. Does anyone take the Digoxin for these conditions and it works? Which do you think is better?
Avatar n tn Mine starts with flutter, like a thousand butterflies in my chest, then to very fast and irregular beats, and then very slow and soft, in fact so soft I can hardly feel it. Anyone have the same? I try to avoid all triggers that I know of, such as laying on left side, coffee, over eating or eating to fast. I take CO Q10, magnesium, aspirin and my Flecinaide. Any one have good experience Flecinaide?

Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar f tn I know if i was on digoxin i would look at the packaging the pharmacy gave me and go directly to the horses mouth so to speak and go onto the manufactuerers site and see what they have to say about long term effects, etc. They should tell you what the clinical studies showed, side effects and all of the pertinent information....good luck to you....
Avatar m tn Then I found on the internet how toxic Digoxin could be with the other medicines I was taking, and that no one should be kept on it for very long. Since the second cardiologist removed Digoxin from my prescriptions, and I was healing and getting better, I think I must have been under a toxic level of Digoxin causing blood in my urine and poisoning affects of awake,eyesight,cuts,etc..
