Avatar n tn a recent ekg my husband had says it is abnormal because of sinus bradycardia and T wave abnormality- consider inferior ischemia what does this mean ? he has had bypass in 2000 and takes metropolol This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/252050'>Inferior ischemia</a>.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with PVCs and NSVT by my cardio, and had a normal echo. Anyhow, I was last at my cardio 3 weeks ago for a check up and they did an EKG. He told me that my EKG was showing non-specific changes, and he told me that all my previous EKGs had them also. No cardiologist has ever mentioned this fact before, despite the fact that I've had 5 EKGs now.
Avatar m tn She had no chest pain, only palpitations and general weakness. She took 1 mg digoxin PO and eventually the episode resolved. Had two more similar episodes in the past year: tachy with normal BP brought on by exertion. EKG was normal the next day. She's a dear family member who doesn't live in the states and her doctor didn't believe her when she described the episode.
Avatar f tn My daughter-in-law who is 23 weeks pregnant was told that the baby's heartbeat is 220. They are monitoring her with a high-risk specialist and a pediatric cardiologist. Over the last 3 weeks, the heartbeat has remained high, but stable. How dangerous is this? What are the odds of it damaging the baby's heart and/or the baby not making it? They have talked about Digoxin if the heartbeat goes up to 260. What would that mean for the mother's health?
471161 tn?1317190950 Last year cardiologist specialists advised her to have open heart valve replacement surgery and that they would stop Digoxin and the swelling would also go away, but it hasn’t. It’s still there and she is still taking Digoxin. Did you find a doctor who helped you in the end?
Avatar n tn It is the responsibility of the clinician providing care for the patient to ascertain the importance of the ECG findings. It is not an uncommon EKG tracing, often meaningless and requires supporting evidence for any dx. There are heart drugs e.g.
378273 tn?1262097621 Atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response (is "rapid" a good or bad sign?) Left bundle branch block (I already knew I had this; doctor not concerned) Thanks for any help with this!
Avatar n tn was given an EKG and he noticed a LBBB - onto the cardiologist who performed a nuclear stress test which I failed miserably and was admitted immediately into the hospital. I had NO OTHER SYMPTOMS. First diagnosis was a virus had attacked my heart. Upon further evaluation...(on monitors) it was noted that my heart rate was racing up to 160 bpm while at complete rest.
Avatar f tn I am not allowed to increase the dose. Calcium channel blockers and many betablockers are not suitable for me. Someone suggested Digoxin to me, but hyperparathyroidism prevents its use. I don't know how to treat my abnormal rhythm.
Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
Avatar n tn My father recenlty fell, fractured his hip and I have been getting contradicting information about digoxin, since he has low blood pressure and digoxin may not be safe for him.. Thank you This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/239460'>Dijoxin Level</a>.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar f tn Scheduled another cardio-vert for this Wed Mar 4, and will start on Tikosyn and be monitored in hospital for 2-3 days. Also said I would need to be on Digoxin and would fax that Rx in.... he "forgot".....I called the service Sat.& Dr. in surgery his PA said he would call back in 2 hours.... but I didn't hear from him. Today I learned he called it in, but didn't notify me, the pharmacy did. The P.A. said A-Fib was a "nuisance" not dangerous.....
Avatar m tn Two doctors reviewed the EKG results and said they would have to consult an EP specialist. I was prescribed Coumadin and metoprolol tartrate. The doctors have not decided on a procedure yet but said that I could possibly have a cardioversion or ablation. What are the advantages/disadvantages to these procedures?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed seven years ago, but just had the ablation therapy five months ago. I began to have headaches two weeks ago and I have never experienced anything like this. There is a sudden onset and the pain is so severe, it almost knocks me off my feet. It is pounding at the back of my head but my entire head hurts and I feel pressure behind my eyes. If I sit perfectly still, it goes away. We called 911 the other night and my bp was 220/70 and normal for me is very low.
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
Avatar f tn The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
Avatar f tn I have some Afib and some PAC's, my doc said Digoxin and Toprol do the same thing, I chose the Digoxin. Does anyone take the Digoxin for these conditions and it works? Which do you think is better?
Avatar n tn s contractions are weaker than normal, and digoxin helps provide a stronger beating heart. If one has increased functionality of the heart, the drug may be dropped, also, there can be a tolerance that develops with digoxin that may require discontinuation for a period of time.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar f tn I know if i was on digoxin i would look at the packaging the pharmacy gave me and go directly to the horses mouth so to speak and go onto the manufactuerers site and see what they have to say about long term effects, etc. They should tell you what the clinical studies showed, side effects and all of the pertinent information....good luck to you....
Avatar m tn Then I found on the internet how toxic Digoxin could be with the other medicines I was taking, and that no one should be kept on it for very long. Since the second cardiologist removed Digoxin from my prescriptions, and I was healing and getting better, I think I must have been under a toxic level of Digoxin causing blood in my urine and poisoning affects of awake,eyesight,cuts,etc..
Avatar f tn High ventricular rate leads to insufficient diastolic filling time. Digoxin slows down the conduction in the AV node and increases its refractory period, and it can reduce the ventricular rate. The arrhythmia itself is not affected, but the pumping function of the heart improves by improved filling. The use of digoxin in heart problems during sinus rhythm was once standard.
