Common Questions and Answers about Digoxin and apical pulse

Avatar n tn I noticed a couple weeks ago that when I lay on my left side when going to sleep at night, I can really feel my apical pulse...it really pounds up and down. I definitly have an anxiety problem, so once I notice something like that I cannot get it out of my mind. So nonstop for the last couple weeks I have been feeling my apical pulse and when I do I can feel it easily. I'm a 20 year old competitive distance runner, so I know I'm healthy and in shape..
Avatar n tn Thanks Kenkeith. My reduced pulse is associated with dizziness and low BP (100/70), all happening together in last 7-10 days. Since 2007 my ACE-I dose has come down from 12.5 to 2.5 to keep my BP at 110/70. For last two days I have stopped ACE-I just to make sure my BP does not fall below 100/70. From your reply it sounds all is well except that I need to adjust my medicines. I was concerned that low pulse/BP are danger signs, in heart parients. I did not know that digoxin also effects pulse.
2021358 tn?1328748117 Vagal nerve is as you probably know, part of the autonomic nervous system. An electrophysiclogical (EP) cardiologist would be the specialist to see. (I don't know why the neurologists don't treat it, but they don't) I have POTS and am sure I also have vagal nerve damage, was seen at Mayo clinic in FL. Beacuse I also have heart problems, the neurologist and cardiologist got together and prescribed DIGOXIN.
Avatar f tn Supposedly it was a success, and I remained on 150mg daily of toprol xr and 1 tablet daily of digoxin.nwith that my pulse remained at rest between 57-65bpm with a high of 70bpm. I have short periods of feeling my heart race but it always reverts back and it's just a few seconds. But today it did not go back, shot up to 107bpm briefly and has slowly increases from 91bpm to 95bpm. Went to the ER but since they don't consider it tachycardia they didn't pay me much attention.
290624 tn?1202328875 I'm scheduled for an ablation next Tuesday. I don't think my pulse was through the roof because I've had that before and this felt different. It was like I could feel some beats in my neck, but not all. I would just feel some beats in my chest. I'm on digoxin and disopyramide. But I'm off those as of tomorrow in preparation for my procedure. I'm terrified! Maybe it was just a really slow a-fib? Thanks for replying...
Avatar n tn They gave me a beta blocker and a shot of digoxin and told me I had tachycardia. I went to my cardiologist, she increased my digoxin from .25 to .375 and told me that my potassium level was on the lower end of normal to eat a banana or drink a glass of OJ daily. I had asked her if she thought it was some sort of panic attack (I have no prior panic attacks) with really no response other than lets monitor for the next 3 months.
Avatar n tn Thanks Jon. I was just wondering if my current stress thallium is reporting lesser area as damaged due to MI. The report mentions anterior and large apical walls as infarcted area. The last year's report states, anterior, apical and distal infrolateral walls as infarcted. The distal infolateral wall is absent in this year's report. Does it has any relevance? What does this report for me. Is my heart condition stable or it is deteriorating with respect to last year??
Avatar m tn i also experience the same thing, what could it be when sometimes it will wake me up and it will feel as if my pulse is racing 100000 bpm, but I will feel my pulse and it will be REALLY slow with long pauses inbetween, but beating forcefully and then eventually will start going fast and i awake with shortness of breath?I only experience that kind when I'm woken from them, which is usually every night. I also can feel them while Im half asleep (dreaming) and then will awaken with them.
Avatar f tn Flecainide, Digoxin, Atenolol, verapamil can go into the bin. Also, the holter monitor report mentioned "ventricular runs" is not meant to v-tach. It is ventricular pacing. When my pacemaker is pacing my ventricle, I feel like an express train is running in my chest, sweat and exhausted. Yes, with the pacemaker, you still can feel the irregular pulses. It depends the programming what the doc set to. If he set to permanent pace at ventricle then you might be unable to feel one.
Avatar n tn m sitting in the ER and the only equipment on me was the pulse ox and this happened, a split second after it started the alarm went off and my o2 showed 85 and my pulse probably went to 130'ish. Everything went back to normal 15 seconds later, including pulse. Unfortunately I wasn't hooked up to the EKG during this, but now I know my o2 is dropping during those "episodes" (which have occurred 1-10 times per month for a few years).
Avatar f tn However, the way to better assess this is to check her oxygen saturation with a pulse oximeter. With regard to her digoxin therapy, your cardiologist likely decreased the dose because she was demonstrating no evidence of congestive heart failure. We often see typical benign peripheral cyanosis show up at varied times during infancy.
Avatar m tn After the op. she was put on amiodarone, digoxin and furosemide. While the MVR appeared successful the maze did not kick in, experiencing irregular heartbeats cica 90 p.m. She then had cardioversion a few days ago; her heart rhythm appears to have regularised but her pulse rate has dropped to 42-46 p.m. and she has lost a lot ef energy. She has been taken off all medication except warfarin (5 mg pd) Where do we go from here?
Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
Avatar m tn Findings SPECT images demonstrate absent to severely reduced tracer uptake in apex (anteroapical and inferoapical), anterior (apical and mid), anteroseptal (apical, mid and basal), inferoseptal (apical, mid and basal), apical inferior, apical inferolateral and apical anterolateral segments. There is moderately reduced tracer uptake in basal anterior and inferior (mid and basal) segments. Rest of the myocardial segments show good tracer uptake.

Avatar n tn My father recenlty fell, fractured his hip and I have been getting contradicting information about digoxin, since he has low blood pressure and digoxin may not be safe for him.. Thank you This discussion is related to Dijoxin Level.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar f tn ve diagnosed, Apical pleural thickening on both sides. Pls help me with the meaning and cure for the same.
Avatar n tn I had MI in 2007 and since have low ef 30-35%. Other meds are AEC-I aspirin/clopidogrel, digoxin, statin, aldectone. Or could this be some other problem related to ef which could be worsening? What should I look for?
Avatar m tn My doctor was very surprised because he had never seen atrial fibrillation in a young adult. My doctor prescribed digoxin and my heart rhythm returned to normal. About six months ago I moved to a different state. I recently went to a new doctor to have my digoxin levels checked and he noticed that my afib had returned. He was concerned because digoxin would not have been his choice of treatment and he said I should have also been taking aspirin or a blood thinner.
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
