diflucan vs monistat

I'm actually using the 3 day monistat treatment right now lol. It's safe to use. If anything I think its safer than the one day pill antibiotic they prescribe for yeast infections called Diflucan.

I'm 16 weeks and I'm suffering from a horrible yeast infection. I took 7 days of terazol and 3 days of monistat. Neither helped. Creams usually don't on me. Diflucan is the only thing that works but my dr. said he doesn't prescribe it during pregnancy. I'm so sick of it. I'm miserable. Has anyone ever taken diflucan when they were pregnant? What are the side effects to the baby?

My doctor finally gave me a prescription to get diflucan. But my insurance want pay for it because they he said it is a risk for the baby. Has this happened to anyone else? Or have you taken diflucan and everything turned out fine? Not to mention she only prescribe me 2 pills one every 24 hours and that's it.

I know that during pregnancy, you are allowed to use Monistat or over the counter treatments similiar to monistat (store brands) to treat yeast infections, but I was wondering if there were any oral medications you can take. I know that you cant take diflucan (fluconazole ~generic for diflucan) but I was wondering if there was anything else. My doctors office is not open yet so I will be calling them when they are available, but was wondering if any of you ladies knew anything about this.

If you have insurance your dr can call you in a one time dose of diflucan or you can do the monistat as cassandra19 suggested

yeah i have heard this too...lol. Think i'll just buy some monistat. I'm worried though I havent ever had to do that before...I dont want to hurt the baby.

I'd wait out and use what the Dr prescribed. How long did he/she say it would take? If you just started, you should feel some relief soon.... Good luck...

In late June I was diagnosed with my first yeast infection. I took monistat and diflucan and the infection went away quickly. A couple weeks later I got a UTI. A few days after finishing the antibiotics I began to have the same symptoms as the yeast infection and took diflucan and monistat again. A couple weeks after that irritation I experienced similar symptoms again. I took monistat for a day and I was fine.

I developed a yeast inefection after 2 rounds of antibiotics for a major ear inefection. I've had a few yeast infections before so I picked up some Monistat 1. I wish I hadn't because I had the worst, most painful burning I've ever felt. In fact, my actual yeast inefection was less irritating and painful than the Monistat 1. The monistat may not be strong enough for you. You may have to go to a Gyn and get diflucan and kill the yeast infection. It stays in your system for seven days and you'll be sure to get rid of the yeast. Symptoms usually go away within the 24 hrs after taking the antibiotic pill. Its a 1 dose.

Doctor allowed me to use monistat 7 to treat a yeast infection.

I am almost on my last week of pregnancy and I may have a yeast infection, would taking monistat 7 now be unsafe since I'm so close to delivery? Or can my doctor prescribe me with some kind of medication?

I have had intense vaginal itching for a couple of weeks now. I went to my gyno and she said I definitely had a yeast infection and gave me 2 Diflucan. I've taken both, and I STILL have this intense itch. It doesn't last all day, but comes in bouts and it's driving me crazy! There's no odor, and I'm guessing some slight discharge, but I'm not understanding why the Diflucan wouldn't help.

I have had the most severe reaction to Monistat 3 day.. I was able to use all 3 doses. However on the 4th day I started to itch and burn like theres no tommorrow. My yeast infection wasn't even that bad but now I feel like someone set my insides on fire. I even have a chemical like burn mark inside me. I will NEVER use this product again.. My doctor had told me to stop using it and perscribed Diflucan pill for me to take.. Its been almost 20 hours and I am already starting to feel better.

The discomfort was still bad so they had me add Monistat and Vagisil on day 2 after my first pill. The Monistat made me sting so badly and itch even more, that I used Vagisil extra strength 20% benzocaine probably 7 times (small amounts less than 1 inch) today. (Is that dangerous?) The itching has kept me awake all night. How long should this take to calm down? I haven't had a yeast infection since I was young. (Age 63 now).

I'll try and make this as specific as possible. I had my first ever yeast infection November 2017 right after my period. It was itchy as all hell and when I looked inside it was completely white like I've never seen before. I talked to a few friends and they all said take a Monistat and it'll be gone in a week. WRONG. The monistat (1-day) burned my vulva! I was on fire and swollen and when I saw everyone else had those side effects I went to urgent care and got a diflucan.

Monastat is what my dr told me, but I got the three day that came with soothing wipes as well, GET THE WIPES either way lol they really help with the irritation

Yep! I had a yeast infection in the 3rd trimester with my son and I had to take Monistat...it's perfectly safe. Don't be alarmed when almost all of it gushes back out, because now that your cervix is closed to support the pregnancy there's nowhere for the cream to go and it will leak out...so use it before bed or before lying down and that will minimize how much of it comes out immediately, but I would advise wearing a pantyliner!

I am 38 weeks pg., and have had a yeast inf. for about a week and a half...I have taken the Diflucan pill once, a cream (one time application) once, and now the Dr. gave me more Diflucan..... what else can I do???? Should I buy some over the counter monistat and use that too???? It is such a stubborn infection with all these hormones....what the heck do I do at this point??? I am so frustrated. Please help me.

It seemed like everytime we have unprotected sex, she would get a yeast infection which would be cleared with monistat or diflucan. This happened often and again she cleared it with monistat. I have seen three doctors and two Urologist who say that I have tested for everything and that I can be sure its not an std. As of today, March 4, 2016, my symptoms are itchy pubic hair area, shaft of penis itch and a pinching feeling that comes and go at the head of penis.

just great....is it the meds...the dr is prescribing Diflucan but I heard thats not got when ttc so I was thinking of just using monistat 1 day ovual...I d ont know...HELP!
