Diflucan for intestinal candida

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan for intestinal candida

diflucan

Avatar n tn I am currently being treated with Diflucan and Cipro for an existing yeast problem. I am taking Diflucan for 30 days and Cipro for 10 days. This will give me some relief for about three or four months and then I will need to treat the problem again. Questions: Should I change the Diflucan/Cipro time schedule or try different drugs? Any other suggestion would be very much appreciated. I should note that I take enzymes with each meal (Digest Gold and Fenol) Thanks for any help, Sam.
Avatar n tn Just to be sure but nowhere in there did you mention being treated for candida? More antibiotics would only make it worse. Candida is yeast. Everyone, men and women, can get yeast infections or thrush. It is unlikely you got HIV with protected sex. Its a very low possibility, but you need significant fluid transfer. If you have not been treated, you may benefit from taking something like flucanazole (diflucan) for several days.
Avatar m tn What is the usual dosage for treatment of toenail fungus with Diflucan? My doctor prescribed it to me and it just seems to be different than normal. He said to take 100 mg/daily for the first 10 days of each month until it's gone. Is that a normal regimen?
Avatar f tn I'm going through something similar. I don't have an answer for you, but some more data that might be useful in talking to your drs. When I started on abx about 18 mos ago, I noticed some fairly low level redness and itchiness in the vulvar area. Mentioned it to my LLMD but said I could tolerate it. It went on like that for about a year, taking abx and Florastor (which is a 'good' yeast [S.
Avatar f tn My experience and reading leads me to believe that higher tendency towards easy triggers for candida or yeast is a part of CFS/Fibro. It can be unbelievable how much easier it is to get. Taking antibiotics, lack of genital ventilation or heavy perperation & heat, eating more sugars (or carbs that easily convert to sugar and don't forget sodas, sweet tea etc), sexual activity, and yeasty foods all contribute to yeast overrun.
Avatar f tn I have a yeast infection on my,I have taken meds for,but can't seen to get rid of it. I had 3 atacks of pain upper right side. I waited 9weeks to go to Dr. I didn't have INSURENCE. They said I had mild gastritis. Never mind the pain. I seem to be having a lot of little infection.Whent to the dentist 5days ago and got an abcess were I got the shot. These things have got to be related!
533880 tn?1237612452 Antibiotics make it go away at first, but it also kills good bacteria and eventually candida will come back worse!! Research Candidiasis/Candida Overgrowth....doctors do not know what to do with this, the make it worse by giving more meds. Just research, do not blindly think western medicine will help you!! I have learned my lesson after 7 plus years and my mother has had it for a good 20 years and my brother...it runs in families of European decent because of our intestinal lining.
Avatar f tn Your normal bacterial flora in your intestines are getting unbalanced and/or you are losing some organisms due to the antibiotics. You should start taking probiotics. This will help get your normal bacteria back. But I would ask Metametrix if it will cause any problems with their test just to be sure. Also, you can take an oral antifungal but I wouldn't recommend it because they have bad side effects.
Avatar n tn I had Candida Glabrata for 2 years and had been to 3 gynecologist and 2 infectious disease drs with no relief. I literally tried everything even iv Amphotericin b which threw me into kidney failure and was in the hospital for 4 days. I researched the internet for clinics and found Drexel University clinic in Philadelphia.
Avatar f tn Hi...candida is yeast and it can cause all types of issues...DIFLUCAN is one of the best meds I know to help rid someone of excess yeast. There r also diet changes that can also help..... I am prone to yeast infections when taking antibiotics, and DIFLUCAN is the only thing that helps. As far as dosage, sorry I can not help...I would suggest asking a Pharmacist as they know meds and interaction and reactions better then most drs.
Avatar m tn Can Gastritis be caused by Candida? The reason I am asking is because I was exposed to needless antibiotics in an ER then my testicals turned red like a yeast issue, then I had 10 days of 4000mgs of Augmentin for a constipation/colon infection. Then after a week of concluding that I developed gastritis for the first time, and a thrush.
Avatar f tn Once I stop within a few days I feel terrible again. They prescribe diflucan for 14 days. Had it 6 x’s. Always comes back. No bacteria grows in urine. I am also antibiotic resistant from antibiotics for 49+ years. I Am not diabetic but do have polycystic ovarian syndrome. WBC >182 /HP no bacteria growth is current urinalysis.
Avatar m tn I've had a persistent yeast infection almost every month for nearly 3 years. I've had it tested over 5 times so I know it's candida with certainty. Diflucan sometimes helps for a short while, most of the time not at all. I'm trying it once more and thought maybe trying the miconazole suppositories a few days after the Diflucan may help. What's your opinion on this idea? Does anyone have any advice on recurrent yeast infections?
Avatar m tn Over the weekend I was prescribed Diflucan for possible fungal/yeast condition. I experienced a very significant reduction in symptoms within 24 hours and continue to feel better. I was also offered a prescription of antibiotics, which I declined after the helpful advice on this forum which was that I don't want to confuse things at the moment or make a yeast infection worse. So, Diflucan was step one and it has made a *huge* difference.
Avatar m tn ve had chronic yeast infections (4-6 a year) for about 3 years now. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away. I have relief for a couple days to a week max and then the symptoms returned.
Avatar m tn There’s just no data to support or refute it so it’s been years since people kept looking for candida cures on the internet. I think this may have to do with people believing PATM is caused by antibiotics overdose in the past. It will play out if you only have one species of bacteria and one fungi but it’s not the case. Species could go up to 2400 species.
Avatar m tn Most candida infections stay confined to the intestinal tract, and are more common in women than men. A specialist should be able to tell if you have a systemic candida infection or not; they shouldn't be guessing and giving you medication that kills off the very beneficial organisms that prevent candida from getting foothold in the body in the first place without diagnosing a yeast infection.
Avatar m tn It many articles on the internet fecal body odor is not listed as a symptom of candida overgrowth but there are many people with fbo that have gotten rid of it by treating for candida overgrowth. hope this helps. by Jemital, Feb 11, 2011 11:46PM Diflucan gets rid of the yeast. Then use Symbion Probiotics to reestablish the flora of the intestines. That's how I got rid of my odor. Wheat germ helps for the constipation.
Avatar f tn I have tried to nystatin a couple of times plus difulcan 150mg for 7 days over and over since the end of September and I am currently on diflucan 100mg for 30 days since January 29, 2015. I am about done with that and it is still there..I can't get it to clear up. Just to let you know, I have lupus (sle), sjogren's syndrome, raynaunds, fibromyalgia, interstital cystitis, ibs, reflux, possible adrenal fatigue which I see my kidney dr.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I'm freaking out that I have candida. Was wondering if anyone else has dabbled in this diagnosis or if this is just my imagination. I have a white coating on my tongue that mostly went away on Diflucan but has since slowly made its return back. Most of it brushes off, but more and more its staying there since the Diflucan. And brain fog... Is this anxiety? Am i just over worrying about something? I read about candida online but then the doctor says it can't be that.
Avatar m tn I talked to many people who had trigonitis due to candida, they all tried Diflucan, but it didn't work for them, after that they changed the antimycotic to itrakonazole (Omicral, Onungal in my country) and after 1-2 months on it they all got well. Right now i'm going to try this treatment and i got an MRI appointment to look for endo or other cause for my pain.
Avatar m tn Ok i didnt know where else to go seems like i couldnt find the yeast infection forum. I have had a rash on my testicles and on the tip of my penis and i have been given a cream three times by my doctor and to no avail. I have also had extreme stomach aches for years now and sometimes i feel feverish or like ima get sick and i dont, I have been check for HIV, and Herpes ans stds and nothing.
Avatar f tn About 6 yrs ago my daily inhaler stopped working & I was diagnosed with a pneumoniae & on very strong antibiotics. A red blotch appeared under arm..family Dr gave me Diflucan saying candida. Was having breathing problems but after 1 pill of Diflucan I really had trouble breathing & went to ER Blood gas was 84 so kept me & suggested a change of pulminologists. That began a long struggle with an eventual diagnosis of ABPA and placed on prednisone...15 mg every other day.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I have also used a natural antifungal before all this because I was suspicious I had a systemic candida condition (no doctor has been willing to test me for it, and the antifungals have gotten rid of my other symptoms. Is this thrush, or something else? What else can I take for resistant thrush if that is what it is? I take a high probiotic count, and I am suspicious i am allergic to diary ever since I had C.
