I also wouldn't mind getting more than a few hours of sleep per night. That said, am I taking a risk by switching statins after three decades? Avatar n tn It seems that the main problem was with fenofibrate and pravastatin. The level was pravastatin was greatly increased. But newer info with other statins shows no danger. Avatar f tn t read anything that says the Zocor was responsible, just conjecture that it may be based on some Internet research. Zocor which is merely simvastatin is very safe and the incidence of side effects very low, but some will be affected differently than others.
Avatar n tn Here is an update as of Aug. 30. I went back to the Dr.'s for a plan-of-action for the high cholesterol numbers. We decided to try Simvastatin 20mg's and I also will be adding CoQ-10 with that (my suggestion). I will be having another reading done in December to see if it brings the numbers down. He also suggested I have a Coronary Calcium Score CT done. I had the Coronary Calcium test done the next day and received the findings today. The Total Agatston Score is 0.

Simvastatin isn't on that list, but lovastatin and pravastatin are, if your doctor feels like you could try substituting one of those. Metoprolol isn't on the $4/month plan, but atenolol is. Again, maybe your doctor would be okay with changing you from metoprolol to atenolol. It's worth talking to the doc about.

Avatar m tn I can't find an interaction between pravastatin and levo, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Levo should be taken on an empty stomach, then nothing to eat or drink except water for 30-60 minutes. There are people who take it at night; however, you do need to make sure there's adequate time for your stomach to empty, between your last meal and taking the med. All other medications should be separated from the levo for a couple hours, if possible.

My level was brought down to 160. I had side effects and thought that the cholesterol meds might be to aggressive. My internist also questioned the cholesterol medication.
