Difference between oxycontin and endone

Common Questions and Answers about Difference between oxycontin and endone

oxycontin

Avatar m tn Not sure if you are talking about oxycontin or oxycodone pills in various mixes and forms. Either way, oxycontin and percoccet have the narcotic oxycodone in it. Oxycontin is pure oxycodone in a time release form while percoccet is a mix of oxycodone and another OTC pain reliever. Oxycodone is a stronger narcotic then the narcotic in vicodin which is hydrocodone. Both will cause WD. The WD from oxycodone was always much worse for me then hydrocodone but some say it's the same.
Avatar f tn continues on slow release OxyContin, but also added 5mg endone tablets due to accident which caused more pain. 1-2 tablets about 4 times daily - day 6-7: confined on slow release OxyContin, but slowed down on endone to about 2-3 times - day of release: 1-2 doses of endone, continued on slow release OxyContin Last night was the first night at home - I have been prescribed to continue on the OxyContin slow release twice a day for three days.
Avatar n tn I am currently on oxycontin 40 a day and endone 20mg per day. Same thing, one long lasting other faster. Because i desperately want to get off this stuff girlfriend has suggested Doloxene (dextropropoxphene napsylate 100mg tabs) maybe 8 a day and valium (5mg maybe 4 a day) and clonazepam (2mg? dont know how many to take). I broke my neck (c6/7) in car accident 10 years ago and fell down stairs six months ago T9 and T 12 crush fractures and nothing would take the pain away.
558096 tn?1255887002 Actually the molecule difference between oxycontin and heroin is 3, not so similar with percacet .......... and how you use i.e orally snorting smoking oxycontin has a huge impact on your addiction and the tolerance and the effects on your body. There is a difference between these drugs.
Avatar m tn You're doing well to reach out for help here. It proves you've had enough and want to get off Endone as it no longer works for your pain. 5mg is a low dose but that doesn't make it any easier to wean off it. I agree with the other comments. Your best bet is to explain to your doctor how you're feeling. Write it all down. As the others said, you won't be the first patient he's had that's become addicted to pain meds.
Avatar f tn It was a pretty bad knee and I had the oxycontin/endone for about three weeks. I suffered badly with the withdrawal and four plus weeks post op went to my general practitioner and said I wanted something for the pain, but without side effects or constipation. She recommended panadol osteo, which is strong panadol and timed release. Not magic but a great help as long as I keep taking eight hourly. I wish someone had told me about this earlier.
Avatar f tn What is the difference between Oxycontin and percocet? I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
Avatar f tn Chronic Daily Migraine is something l lived with for 3 and half years before the docs put me on endone and then oxy -- and even then I experienced breakthrough pain every day. But before the narcotics i had no life except one of severe pain every day. I'd contemplated suicide a number of times. But with the narcotics I've traded one problem for another symptom being made more painful -- chronic constipation.
460825 tn?1206476403 I found myself addicted to large amount of oxy and endone and just moved out to the country with my mother. I have lived in big cities all my life so the boredom was the hardest thing. My mother is retired and suffers from cronic back pain, she gave me the first presciption aswell when I started suffering from back pain. I was on oxy for over a year and found myself in the position that between us we were always running out.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar f tn What's the difference between oxycontin and oxycodone? I looked it up in a google search but the answers were confusing. Anyone? Love, Peace and Blessings...Rev P.S. Thanx for your support over the past few days, I am much better than I was when I posted because I'd unwittingly had gone c/t off percocet. I wrote in one of my last posts that doc. was giving me 7.5's but actually it is sraight oxycodone 15mgs.
Avatar m tn The difference between a 2.5mg percocet and an 80mg oxycontin is astronomical, and could mean the difference between life and death. Cutting a time release form of medication can lead to fatality...these are very serious medications with very serious side effects.
15290316 tn?1447023108 This is a topic that comes up alot on this forum....and sometimes I find it hard to see the difference in "addiction" and dependence. I, myself, am an addict and I let my disease of addiction run my life for many years. I am now a bit over 19 months clean, and am very grateful for what I am and where I am. Here's my trouble with the two.....I know many addicts that "claim" that their pain is so unbearable, that can't be without the pills.
Avatar f tn hi lola, having been in your position before i would advise you to find another doctor or medication. I suffer from Major Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Chronic Pain. I was initially prescribed SSRI based Anti-Depressants for my Depression and Tramadol 200SR for my pain. The SSRI medication "Ecitalopram" i was told would take 5 weeks to kick in. In that time i developed serious side effects and instead of taking me off this medication my doctor threw more pills at me.
Avatar f tn As mentioned before due to health reasons etc and numerous ops i became dependant on all sorts of meds like endone, oxycontin and benzos. Its been a long wkend and i dont see the doc til thursday and ive run out of my nightly 15valium a night pills, The more i worry the more i cant sleep, the less i function, and when i finally do get them i induldge more than i should.
Avatar n tn t hardly walk coz of pain in every part of my body, but I do try and plod on, my elbows are so sore and lumpy and itchy , most of the time I feel like I have millions of little insects crawling in side my scin, I would like to no if thete is a stronger painkiller I can take I take oxycontin and oxycodone, but they just take the edge of my pain, can you give me some advice please thankyou
Avatar m tn if it was me i would go back to the percs for the taper because percs and oxy are the same narcotic only difference is percs have tylenol and oxy do not and they are extended release. since you are taking 80mg a day you would be safe if you can get some 10/325 percs and the reason i say use percs for the taper is because you will know exactly how much you are taking instead of guessing while cutting the oxys up.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Targin (which is basically Oxycontin with naloxone in it - helps with the constipation) and Endone (immediate release oxycodone). In summary, the pain got worse and worse, I kept having my dose of Targin upped to 40mg twice a day plus I was taking probably 20 - 30mg of Endone on top of that for break-through pain.
Avatar f tn Importantly, differences between subtype 1a and 1b (by far the most frequently encountered genotype 1 subtypes in clinical practice) include different efficacies of antiviral drugs and different resistance profiles to such drugs. Indeed, several HCV inhibitors appear to have selective activity against different HCV genotype 1 subtypes, both in vitro and in vivo....
Avatar m tn what is the difference between addiction and dependence? I was reading another post and someone mentioned that he/she thought someone was dependent not addicted.. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Avatar n tn One medication may have been developed first and others later that are somewhat similar chemically and in the same chemical family but they may be completely different medications. I take Methocarb and that is prescribed for me to control dystonic spasms. It is an anti spasmodic. Meprobamate is an anti anxiety medication. Any of these medications can be prescribed for other purposes as determined by a doctor or psychiatrist or other treating professional.
