Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 20 yr old (underweight) chinese female. I've been experiencing acid reflux for almost 3 months now. It sort of happened overnight with incredible stomach churning. At first I thought it was stomach flu until I realised that my throat was feeling weird and I was getting air involuntarily popping at my throat. (I hardly ever burp before this.) The docter prescribed me with Omeprazole for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn I am going to have to wait another 2 weeks for results and am back taking the omeprazole but my stomach is constanlty bloating up after eating. Is this a side effect of the tablets?? i have been taking these tablets 6 weeks in total but i am stil suffering severly with bloating and my stomach is constanlty rumbling. Does this sound like h pylori or does anyone else suffer sever bloating from these omeprazole tablets.
Avatar f tn I should add that I’ve been taking PPIs everyday for 5 months and it’s not helping. Tried Omeprazole 40mg, Pantoprozole 40mg, nexium 40mg, rabeprazole 20mg with domperidone, vocinti 20mg.
Avatar m tn I was on omeprazole 10mg, then pantoprazole 20mg and then rabeprazole 20mg. in total I was on PPIs for 3 months. I did change my diet to be more GERD friendly as advised by my dr, no acidic/spicy/oily food and no coffee/tea/chocolate/mint. I also had an ultrasoundndone on my stomach, liver and digestive tract as well as a full blood test, thyroid was found to be normal.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with IBS-Constipation Type and given literature on the condition and nothing more. So, I sought a second opinion and this GI also did nothing and told me he didn't think I needed to be scoped - ridiculous in my opinion taking into account my history and active symptoms. I was very displeased and went for a 3rd opinion as I was experiencing severe abdominal pain and spasms, severe constipation, gas and bloating with visible distension and a recent onset of acid reflux.
Avatar f tn I have the same problem which I, too, thought might be caused by Omeprazole. I did find, like CalGal, a link between Omeprazole and a cough, and it was also causing itchy skin down my spine area. Changing my PPI to Lansoprazole recently has not made the slightest difference, and I continue to cough all day and all night, a dry, irritating cough. I also have gastritis, oesophagitis, a Hiatus hernia, none of which had been symptomatic other than nausea, and a lack of desire to eat.
Avatar m tn http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/barretts/index.ht I am making one such suggestion which you can follow and see. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed or raise pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
Avatar n tn Hi, my mom was taking teva-rabeprazole 20mg and now she is out of them can she take pantoprazole 40mg now?
Avatar m tn So I made an appointment for endoscopy in Bangkok and indeed I was diagnosed with reflux and small hiatal hernia. I got prescribed Periet (which I think is rabeprazole) and while it did help with lump feeling in throat it didn't help much with breathing. However, recently I discovered a generic version of omeprazole which when I take in the morning it does help with my breathing. However, when I take it for longer than 3-4 days, my breathing starts to be bad again.
1806721 tn?1554333407 s stop production of the acids, when u stop taking the meds, it flips the on switch and many times our system makes too much all at once and we feel the same as we did b4....this is y it is very important to slowly step off these meds and know u may have some GERD until ur body adjusts. Taking antibiotics will also affect ur GERD issues and a probiotic is a good idea, ur Dr should be able to guide u as to which one and what dose is best for u.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar n tn It is a PPI so I would guess it could cause these things. You have to weigh the benefit of the drug against the side effects. PPIs have also been known to intefere with absorbtion of B12 and other vitamins.
Avatar f tn Omeprazole(prilosec), lansoprazole (prevacid), pantoprazole (protonix), rabeprazole( aciphaex) and esomeprazole(Nexium). All are of same efficacy. If there is no response to one, switching to another might be helpful. Get your doctor's opinion before changing the medications. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice.

Avatar f tn I take omeprazole and it works wonderful!! and its generic so not that expensive at all. I used to take protonix and it worked just as well as the omeprazole.. good luck!
Avatar m tn Was given endoscopy and prescribed omeprazole (40mg) until next endoscopy in one year. Was told the pain should go away in about a month. It's been about 2 months and the pain is still just as bad. Could I not have a hernia or ulcer and could this have been overlooked somehow in the endoscopy?
1747349 tn?1332683680 consisting of proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole, lansoprazole and the antibiotics clarithromycin and amoxicillin.[46] Variations of the triple therapy have been developed over the years, such as using a different proton pump inhibitor, as with pantoprazole or rabeprazole, or replacing amoxicillin with metronidazole for people who are allergic to penicillin.
Avatar m tn Thank you Teak for replying. Its big relief reading your reply. Thank you very much. I had sex with a prostitute. To eradicate my worry, I finally decided to go for a HIV test. I tested HIV non-reactive (non-reactive means HIV negative right ?) in 10 week. but couldn't stop worry as I tested in 10 week and not after 3 months. Also I'm taking 'Rabeprazole' 20 mg everyday empty stomach before meal. That day also, I took medicine and meal before HIV test.
1534233 tn?1523388856 Last week the pain comes in my right shoulder also and across my back between the shoulder blades. I suffer from ventricular bigeminy and when this happens my shoulder seems to hurt too. My doctor insists my heart is fine, I've had a lot of tests and all are normal apart from event monitor which showed up the ahrythmia. As soon as I got up today the burning between my shoulders was there across my back. I went to a walk in centre and was examined.
Avatar m tn Overall, people taking acid-suppressing drugs were between 22 percent and 27 percent more likely to get pneumonia than people not taking these treatments. The researchers estimated that for every 200 people taking one of these drugs, one extra person would develop pneumonia. They also found that the risk of pneumonia seemed to rise with higher doses. And the risk was highest when people first started taking these drugs.
Avatar f tn Importantly, differences between subtype 1a and 1b (by far the most frequently encountered genotype 1 subtypes in clinical practice) include different efficacies of antiviral drugs and different resistance profiles to such drugs. Indeed, several HCV inhibitors appear to have selective activity against different HCV genotype 1 subtypes, both in vitro and in vivo....
