Avatar n tn I agree with Verona and also urge you to consider a diet (life plan change) as the Zone diet or SOuth Beach Both these diets control insulin and are very helpful with weight in hypothyroid patients. I found the Zone plan to be better. I have taken off about 7 to 10 pounds - I still bloat at times - but I do feel better.

Avatar n tn You say you watch what you eat! but you didn't state what the diet menu is and the calories. at the gym do weights first and cardio last. Doing cardio first you become tired and then it's harder to do proper weight training. Try the following routine! The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between.

Avatar f tn I exercise 6 days a week, and keep control my diet around 1500 - 1800 cal per day. I am a active woman in 41 & 165cm. I have started my exercise and diet plan almost 3 years, at the first six months, I lost from 140lbs to 118lbs (all time low). And I keep working hard but my weight is going back and off, around 120 - 125lbs. Recently I start the wii game (Active), and do more weight/resistant training in my daily exercise.
Avatar n tn Some people do great counting calories, some do good on the Atkins plan or the Paleo-Diet, but exercise is a must and you want to get a good bill of health from your doctor before you get after it. Eating times are sometimes important. Smaller meals, more often is another good train of though. 5 smaller meals compared to 3 big ones. I wish you luck. It's hard work and you have to remember that you didn't get big over night.

Avatar n tn Purely anecdotal, but I was able to normalize my enzymes 2-3 times during the 40 years prior to treatment. In all these instances I adhered to a strict low fat diet, namely the "Pritkin" diet where total fat calories add up to no more than 10% of total daily calories. Protein is also limited on this diet so it's basically high carb, low fat, low-moderate protein. That said, some will say that a more balanced "Zone" type diet is better for the liver.
Avatar m tn I lived by the zone diet for a while and it did little to help. Exercise is difficult because my body usually crashes for about 2 days immediately following any trips to the gym.
Avatar f tn Believe it or not by changing your diet (substituting sugar with artificial sweetners and cutting back carbs alone) and walking will show a difference in your numbers. Some are lucky enough after doing this to actually stop or cut back on some of the medications like insulin. I would talk to your doctor about a diet plan.

I myself have lost 40 pounds and have kept it off by means of diet alone, without any significant contribution of exercise. Starving yourself does not work, but changing what you eat does. I recommend that people consider the paleo diet, because that's what has worked for me.
Avatar f tn Obviously I have the Diet Diary App, for the past week I've been dieting-calorie counting. I've not eaten over 1700calss which is what the app set me. I've been eating all healthy foods with good meals too. I've been jogging 2/3 times a week, swimming once a week and sit ups 4/5 times a week with bits of walking in there. From Monday to Monday I've lost 1lb. Feeling a bit disheartened. Im 5ft 8 and weigh 11.9 after my 1lb loss.
