212161 tn?1599427282 The increase in your TG's is unrelated to catrate. Elevated TG's are most likely related to your diet and the good news is that they are usually well controlled with diet modification. Definitely cut down on your carbohydrate intake because that's what keeps the TG's elevated (the sugars get used up instead of the TG's). If that does not help you should be started on therapy. you should also have your cholesterol checked and treated as needed.
Avatar m tn Hi, and sorry you have a moderately high blood sugar, and triglycerides. These things can definitely be controlled by diet and exercise (provided the blood sugar problem is not genetic. Drinking alcohol and not exercising will raise your triglycerides. Also eating junk food and a lot of sugary foods can raise your blood sugar too. You sound like you are normally vegetarian? or eat better? Are your blood sugar values and triglycerides usually normal? If so get back on your normal diet.

Having said that, your PVCs may be anxiety related to statin use. There are many cases where side effects from control groups of statin users and placebo users occur at the same rate. This is a classic placebo affect which you may also be experiencing.
Avatar n tn So rather than taking a statin drug, you really need to focus on your diet to reduce the inflammation in your body, which is aggravated by: Eating lots of sugar/fructose and grains Oxidized cholesterol (cholesterol that has gone rancid, such as that from overcooked, scrambled eggs) Eating foods cooked at high temperatures Eating trans fats What Constitutes a Heart-Healthy Diet?
Avatar m tn When you eat excess calories in the form of sugars, your body converts them into triglycerides. Carbohydrates come from plant foods, You can help lower triglyceride levels by choose whole grain foods. Fiber is found in whole grains and foods like fruits and vegetables.High fiber reduces triglyceride and cholesterol levels by reducing the absorption of saturated fats in your diet.

Avatar n tn Bottom line is that I can no longer tolerate Tricor, which drastically lowered my triglycerides from over 2000 to around 1000. Diet changes after a heart attack and stroke keep my triglycerides around 700. I now have permanent peripheral neuropathy, as diagnosed by a neurologist, who agrees with me that the combination of these two drugs, and the continued use of Tricor alone caused this PN. I have to take 1200 mgs of Neurontin daily to control this condition.
212161 tn?1599427282 Your question is how to improve triglycerides. Triglyceride is how the body stores fat. Your diet is too high in total fat and saturated fat. The only way to decrease your triglyceride level is by minimizing your intake of fats. Saturated fats are found primary in animal proteins, eggs, oils. You have to be a label reader. Total fat should be less than 40 gm/day and sat fats <15 gm. 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise /day would also help.
