172023 tn?1334675884 When the bread is cold, make thin slices and spread with honey or jam. If you want anymore recipes for babies or toddlers, let me know! It's a pretty good book. It even has ideas for the holidays, etc. And it shows you how to make home made baby food. I never got that adventerous, but I did try several of the recipes! Hope you enjoy them!
Avatar f tn I'm glad to see so many vegetarians out there, as I am struggling with a diet as well. I was told that beans are OFF LIMITS on this diet, but see that some of you have had success eating beans. Tofu is acceptable, but not plain yogurt. Any help or advice on veg- friendly diet ideas would GREATLY be appreciated!!
Avatar n tn The best diet is one that incorporates lots of fresh/frozen veggies, lean protein such as meat, eggs, dairy and legumes, healthy fats such as avocados, olive and coconut oils, nuts and seeds, along with a serving or two of fruit/day. Most vegetables have so few calories that you can eat as much as you want of them, without worrying about eating too much. Keep your meat servings to about the size of a deck of cards. Add olive or coconut oil for seasoning or to cook with.
287016 tn?1194138575 I am hearing mixed amounts. Also when I searched for free recipes there were about 250 calories in one meal. That seems rather high considering that you are only supposed to have 500 in one day.
Avatar f tn what is a really good diet to go on and how does it work? i want to lose weight fast, i have tried a few diet pills but they make me tired do any of them work?
Avatar f tn com (without the spaces) that might have some meal plans or give you a way to come up with some. It's actually quite easy to come up with your own menus, centering around lean protein, lots of veggies, low/no fat dairy, whole grains, healthy fats, nuts, seeds.... Every meal/snack should have some protein, because that's what builds muscle and helps keep you feeling fuller.
1277082 tn?1344061420 Well, I don't really have any actual recipes but I do have advice for you in which it should probably help you out. For us with PCOS, it makes our bodies harder to digest simple carbs (i.e. pasta, breads, rice). So because of this, this is why we gain weight and this is why it takes so long to come off. My suggestions are as follows: Bread: whole grain, high fiber. Anything high fiber (yes it is more calories) works to your advantage, because it will make your body feel more full...
Avatar n tn As far as I know, beer has the most calories, and also champagne has quite a lot too(if we are rich enough to enjoy it!) I would stick to something like vodka, with a slimline (diet) mixer, like diet tonic water or diet coke. Try not to mix it with fruit juice as it is packed with sugar. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn I've dropped over 40 lbs from diet changes, exercise, (and thyroid medication). I went from a diet filled with prepackaged easy to make foods to all homemade sauces, breads, and meals and the weight just started melting off. So if you are determined to avoid surgery think of this as a good motivator to make good food decisions. If you are constantly pressed for time, taking one day of the week out and make home made frozen meals. These will be much healthier and probably safer for you to eat.
Avatar n tn I work two jobs and go to college, so I am on the move a good bit, but I try to exercise when I have spare time. If anyone has any dieting tips, recipes, excersise tips, or anything else, feel free to comment!
172023 tn?1334675884 Thanks Peek ... sounds like a great idea. What is the deal with cranberry relish if it's made with Splenda? I wonder if that makes it a better bet vs. it made with sugar the traditional way?
Avatar f tn How can I diet and eat healthy if my parents do not buy healthy food? I have talked to them about why we need to eat healthy, and they have just told me it costs too much. They will not get good foods and I do not have control over groceries myself.
Avatar f tn Common causes of weight gain like overeating, lack of exercise, diabetes, hypothyroidism have to be ruled out in your case. You must then look for other causes. One is water retention due to low serum protein. This along with anemia can cause unexplained weight gain. Adrenal gland problems are the other cause. Cushing’s syndrome should be looked for. The kidney function too should be assessed. Late night snacking and poor sleep too can cause weight gain.
Avatar n tn Make sure to mix it up and keep your diet interesting...never get bored...Google cool recipes online or ask your parents for help... Tell them about wanting to eat healthier... Check out cooks on television who promote healthy eating. There are better ways to live than by counting calories and caring about looks....believe me... You don't want to be wasting your life obsessing about food. I think it is awesome and very wise of you to be seeking advice and asking for support.
Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.
Avatar f tn I am pleased that you have managed to avoid further attacks. I wish that I could manage my condition on diet alone. I did talk with my doctor, but he wasn't very helpful. He just said 'low fat diet'. That is fine, but the 'how to' and the recipes are hard to find. Normally, I am a creative cook, but at the moment I am lost >.< Plus, I don't feel in the mood to cook. :/ No, can I find any peace in the decision that a need surgery. What I need is a miracle lol.
1486688 tn?1333857307 Does anybody have favorite low-fat recipes that they could share with me? Thanks guys!
Avatar f tn They have told me to eat a fat free and dairy freediet for the next 12 weeks when iI will be checked again as surgery whilst I'm pregnant is risky. I am having a really hard time coming up with recipes and options to fill myself up, so far nothing I make had any flavour and it is putting me off eating. Does anyone have any recipes they could share?
Avatar n tn You see, in case you didn't know, it's not just a 500 calorie a day diet, it's a very specific 500 calories a day. There may be some doctors at certain clinics who have tweaked the program a bit and had success, but they are doctors and know what the heck they are doing. I'm not a doc, I can't tweak the program like a doc can so I'll be following the Simeons protocol to the letter. Here's hoping.
1304588 tn?1299075071 Any who, that was just a quick background for ya'll.
Avatar n tn , but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books about a diet for this condition. Or if you have good recipes, etc. I have lost 13 lbs. in the past 6 weeks and don't want to waste away! I have started drinking Ensure to make sure I get some calories and nutrients. Any advice/knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1943833 tn?1349280189 I have a 16 week old boxer who has been diagnosed with renal failure (most likely congenital). He is now on the Science Hill R/D diet (1 can wet with a 1/2c dry mixed in, 2x daily), pepcid once a day and a phosphorus blocker. We are doing sub-q fluids at home, 300ml every other day. He is now very active, eating well, peeing & pooping well, just not drinking much. My question is this...
Avatar n tn Hi Chev, thanks for that, that would be a better idea. Lindy, go to once there register with username and password then hit the 'home' button at top of screen, then if you scroll down you will come to a section called "Living with Hep C", in there you will find the diet for Hep C people called "Food recipes for hep c". Hope all is well with everyone, and thanx again Chev.
Avatar f tn The 'conventional' diet recommended for persons with diabetes is high carb, with up to 65% of calories coming from carbs. Such a diet can make blood sugar control very difficult (need a lot of insulin to cover so much carb, and blood sugar likely to go high and low). Also as mentioned previously there is no such thing as essential carbs. Such diet will also make weight loss very difficult. Lots of Carbs = Lots of Insulin. Insulin promotes fat storage.
Avatar f tn Eat the fruits for desert. I would recommend avoid any food with sugar added and also watch the amount of salt. Fast foods are absolutely out.. You should also avoid processed lunch meats... like bologna ham and etc.. Canned tuna is a good thing... Make tuna salad and put in in the ice box.. I am 72 and have eaten healthy for several years. I was forced to because I didn't eat healthy when I was young.
Avatar n tn Jess, just a note, when we try and cut fat calories, sometimes we drastically reduce total calories and that too can be a problem. It may not help, but eating has to be viewed the same as taking medicine when nothing tastes good or nothing is appealing or the appetite just disappears - you have chew and swallow the stuff anyway. Meal substitues can help with meeting nutrition requirements and some calorie requirements, but some food needs to be eaten.
101028 tn?1419606604 I stopped the diet and am just counting calories. It was getting to the point where when I ate chicken and salad or chicken and veggies I felt sick to my stomach because I was so sick of it. I made chicken every which way I could that was still healthy but it was still chicken!!! ground turkey tastes gross to me so my options were canned tuna or chicken and my body was not liking meat proteins.
649848 tn?1534637300 I tend to turn my nose up at any with the word "diet" in it. From my own experiences, years and years of dieting, I've found that most named diets have good things and bad things about them. So I take what I've learned from each and apply to a lifestyle I can actually live with. My philosophy use to be to lose weight for aesthetic purposes. Now, since the fat I have is stubborn, I've decided to instead focus on being healthy.
Avatar n tn I do not recommend this for just 10-15 pounds of weight loss nor do I recommend you stay on this for a long period of time. As with any drug there are side effects with long-term use. She is 57 and has suffered no side effects whatsoever. Of course every person is different. Her doctor recomended it to her and then she found it online cheaper. I hope this helps. By the way--watch out for ephedrine it makes some people have serious problems in high doses.
Avatar n tn Hi! Is anyone starting the HCG diet on Black Friday? I will be doing it 4 weeks thanksgiving to christmas? Do you want to start a support group?
