You can check out the blog Diet Doctor for more information about LCHF (low carb high fat diet) if you are interested. Here is one of the articles on PCOS... Avatar f tn Birth control is NOT the only solution for PCOS. Diet, exercise, losing weight (or gaining if you're underweight), Metformin, holistic remedies, etc. I absolutely hate it when doctors just put women on birth control instead of helping them heal because birth control could cause more issues down the road. Check into other options and maybe find a new physician who wants to help you heal and have a baby! I'm pregnant with #4 and I have PCOS.
193609 tn?1292180293 Did your doctor give you metformin? iI too have PCOS, and was put on metformin and birth control pills. I have lost 34lbs since 9/14. Good luck with your diet. Losing just 5 to 10% of your body weight can improve the signs of PCOS.
Avatar f tn m planning to conceive in 2 years from now. I have read that by modifying diet one can completely reverse PCOS. I have following questions about diet: 1. Can I consume soy products? Is it suggested to consume soy products thrice every week. (I'm not sure about this. Somewhere I have read that soy has protein and for PCOS one should combine carbohydrate with protein, so it is good to have soy products.
Avatar n tn Unless the sickness is absolutely horrible. PCOS can also be controlled by diet. This may take a little longer to work, but you have three months to try it. Google PCOS diet and you should find all the info you need. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn No one here with PCOS? People with Type 1 diabetes can get PCOS. My aunt had type 1, which she developed as a teen and was insulin dependent her entire life, and she also had PCOS. She died at age 58 from heart disease. I too have PCOS, but I have type 2 diabetes. After years of dealing with low blood sugar and many other debilitating symptoms, including fatigue and severe PMS, I became diabetic overnight. I'm sorry to say that there is no cure for PCOS. It can only be treated.

764218 tn?1234569759 I'm 20 year old girl, weigh 132 pounds, and i'm 5'6. I exercise (cardio and lifting light weights) about 2-4 times a week, depending on my schedule. I want to weigh 125 pounds and have been thinking about taking diet pills to help because I can't seem to lose more weight. Is it a safe idea? I've heard rumors of girls my age taking diet pills, and later on in life are overweight and can't lose the weight because they ruined their metabolism. Is this true?

Avatar f tn Diet pills won't work by themselves - you will need to eat sensibly and moderate exercise. In addition, most often any weight lost with diet pills usually comes back once you go off them. You will need to make changes that will sustain you over the long haul. Would love to see you take twehner5's advice and check out some of the journals and posts from others who have been successful. And don't let her fool you, twehner5 has done quite well for herself too.
