Common Questions and Answers about Diet ideas high blood pressure

Avatar f tn I really don't know what to make of this. It's such a new thing for Nick and I am worried. Should we continue on the high-salt diet or no? Am I doing something wrong? Could there be something wrong with our bp machine?
Avatar m tn Hi there. I am only 21 but I have high blood pressure, and I'm not sure why. Apart from maybe the odd extra cookie, I would say my diet is fine. I perhaps don't exercise as regularly as one would like but I hardly see it as a cause for high blood pressure. I wouldn't say I'm any more stressed out than my peers. My family's blood pressure is fine. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Avatar m tn 4 years ago after the birth of my child I was on 4 different medications. Today none, and my blood pressure is 100/60. All the ideas mammo gave you on exercise, low salt diet and more is what helped me get off medications and get my BP back on track. It isnt good to walk around with uncontrolled blood pressure so for sure get in as soon as you can and get things sorted around with your doctor.
293157 tn?1285877039 I was 16 years old when I went on medication for high blood pressure. I am 46 now and have never been off of bp meds but my blood pressure is well controlled. . I am on medications for MS symptoms that say they may cause hypo tension but NOPE not for me.
Avatar f tn I finally am feeling better and loosing weight through diet and exercise. Now I seem to have high blood pressure and I have noticed lately that a few "symptoms" that went away when I first went on synthroid have started creeping back up like leg cramps...could my blood pressure be related to needing my doseage updated? Any ideas on how to bring down my blood pressure naturally?
Avatar m tn I discussed my resting after bowl movement with someone not a doctor and he said that it maybe little high blood pressure and it goes down after bowl movement. Is this possible? Also does probiotic supplements increase or decrease blood pressure. Probiotics claim they reduce high blood pressure. I am getting mixed information from what I have searched on web. says it can also increase chances of sepis- blood infection and diverticulitis. I don't know if this is true.
Avatar m tn I immediately began googling and saw high blood pressure in someone as young as me can be caused by adrenal gland tumors. I'm scared to death and I just can't get over the worst case scenario. The doc said to quit taking protein supplements, cut out caffeine (I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day), and cut down on sodium (which I admit I eat a lot of). I must admit I never saw this one coming. Does anyone have any ideas on what this is? Should I be worried?
1451080 tn?1438531260 I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have started a low carb diet. As a family of 5 with two children and myself being on meds and only one person working, I need some economical low carb ideas for meals and/or snacks. The low carb thing is new to my entire family. Any info would be helpful. Also, any info on how to naturally lower my blood pressure is also welcome. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi, I have high blood pressure too. What Bloke1981 has explained is entirely true. In april 2009 I was rushed to the ER for a rapid heartrate after eating, 133 bpm. After ondergoing several test I was diagnosed (may 2009) with mild mitral valve prolapse with mild regurgitation. Since then I am on beta blockers, Nebivolol (Bystolic) for tachycardia. before that my resting heartrate was around 80/90. Now my heart rate is around 55-70.
2044839 tn?1331259441 When im on xanax it actully drops in to the 90s or high 80s i think it might be my anxiety/panic disorder but is this all possible? My blood pressure is a lil high on average around 130/85 usually around that area thoughts??? Thank you for replying.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response My blood pressure usually is 120/80 , but my blood pressure monitor shows 145/90 and then 135 /87 fluctuates Could these machines not be as accurate as in doctors office because when I go to doctors office its 120.
Avatar f tn But just use it to break up one of these spike cycles. I am a person who quite reliably can feel when my pressure is high. I use all the stress reducing and life style tools in my tool use the valium very short term since it can have dependence issues. But it has no impact on the pressures I get if a doctor takes it. And because I respond differently than expected to BP meds in general, there's the question of how to get certain kinds of medical procedures done and safely.
Avatar n tn She can't seem to tolerate blood pressure medications in any dosage--it causes her blood pressure to drop extremely low. She has had all sorts of tests for her high blood pressure with no causes found. Are there any vitamin supplements or specific foods which could help regulate her blood pressure? Is there something she should or shouldn't do first thing in the morning? Something she should or shouldn't eat? The only other medication she is on is synthroid.
Avatar n tn Sometimes just thinking about my blood pressure sends me into full on panic attack (racing heart, can't relax, can't think rationally, etc) and can leave me feeling like this for a few days (the vicious cycle of 'I am feeling anxious, therefore my blood pressure must be high'), then other times I will be completely relaxed and can take my blood pressure at home no problems with fine results and think about it rationally The weird thing is I am quite a laidback person, just the blood pressure
213398 tn?1202674074 diastolic sometimes goes down to high 70’s or low 80s and during stress rises to high 80’s or even low 90’s during high stress. -Can anxiety affect my bp to this extent that its always in mid 80s and such ? -Wake up with red eyes every morning. Has nothing to do with exterior allergens I can feel its coming from inside like a pressure feeling. Is this a symptom of possible hypertension - does this sound like it may lead to DIASTOLIiC DYSFUNCTION?
Avatar f tn I know how to handle it, now, so I know not to panic. Panicing does make it worse. But again, my blood pressure still goes down. My blood sugar has been checked numerous times and is always just fine. I know it isn't dehydration causing it. I don't have asthma, and for a while I did have a high sodium diet (per the cardiologists). Absolutely nothing has helped.
Avatar m tn iv had 9 doctors already - not one of them knew the real cause of high blood pressure ,or what caused the spikes I had. Iv talked to meny natural health people about h.b.p , they say they know the reason for it, and cause of it ? well I was sold 3 $$$ items natural meds to take daily to bring down b.p. I got sick from the stuff - b.p didnt drop at all . worse part, I called the store and the person who sold the bag of goods was gone ! talk is cheap ! I learned again ..
Avatar n tn My liver is so sensitive that too much caffine-more then what's in my cuppa chai every morning, maked my heart pound and my blood pressure shoot up-and its alrady high. It makes me sweat and shake and loss my coinfidence. It can trigger panic attacks. Caffine also brings on my gout. The uric acid chystals lodge not only in my big toe, b/the whole sloe of my foot swells up, the skin cracks to bleeding. B/the gout dosen't stop there. It moves up my ankle, into my knees and now into my hip.
535822 tn?1443980380 Healthy Fatty Acids According to new research conducted by the American Heart Association, people who incorporated a blend of both sesame and rice bran oils into their cooking reduced their blood pressure significantly. Additionally, consumption of the oil blend coupled with high blood pressure medication produced even more optimal results among average aged men and women. Fatty acids and antioxidants found in the oils are likely helping to reduce blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I had to have a physical from my own doctor who had to sign some paper work from GHI and I had to have a blood test as specified from GHI Medical. I followed the 500 calorie diet religiously. I had plenty of energy to exercise which I did 5 - 6 aerobic work outs and 3 weight training work outs. I am a personal trainer and I was having an extremely frustrating time loosing weight after the birth of my 3rd child. Yes, I washed my hair and conditioned it.
Avatar n tn I have seen three PCP's and a board certified Cardiologist and nothing is helping so I am trying here for ideas. Male 36 regular exercise, so so diet, 40lbs overweight. Before Christmas '05 I experienced tiredness, cramping in arms and back. Assumed it was just stress and rested. Symptoms persisted and I went to PCP bp was 140/90. PCP felt that due to an impending job change/ seperation from my family for 6 months that I was having anxiety and stress.
Avatar m tn After a recent check-up, the nurse notified me that my blood pressure was high. The past few times I'd had it taken, it had been higher than I expected, so I borrowed my mom's sphygmomanometer and have been keeping tabs on it the past few weeks. My BP readings have averaged around 135/78, and I realize this is classified as prehypertension. one thing I've notices is that the systolic changes frequently, ranging from 156 to 119, but my diastolic hardly ever changes, ranging between 73 and 82.
Avatar f tn he started by saying that the heart looked strong and healthy then got to another picture and called in the tech for other angles and turned to tell me that the pressure on the right side of the heart was very high and that left was doing what it was suppose to. I dont know if he is really as worried as he sounds because he keeps telling me that as bad as the right side is i could easily die. so I have to wonder why am i waiting to have these tests done.
15440293 tn?1440623937 Within the last month or so I have been taking my blood pressure upon waking, before I go to sleep, and sometime during the day. My average blood pressure usually runs high for about 2 to 3 years now and an average number is about 135–145/ 80–94. However I have noticed upon waking my blood pressure is around 90–105/ 50–80. I am extremely concerned and puzzled as to how my blood pressure and pulse pressure can vary so much in such a short amount time.
703362 tn?1427769928 The particular number that we would like to focus on today is blood pressure. High blood pressure is the No. 1 modifiable risk factor for stroke. High blood pressure (or hypertension) makes the heart work harder than normal. This makes both the heart and arteries more prone to injury. High blood pressure raises the risk of having a heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, eye damage, heart failure and atherosclerosis (fatty buildups in the arteries), and blood clots.
Avatar n tn I was recently told that I had high blood pressure (142/90) and to see my GP. There, it was discovered that there are some large differences in my bp readings--between both arms (10-20 mmhg difference) and at different times of the day. I am trying to find out what some of the causes of this could be. some information to help: age: 29 height: 62" weight: 160 female right handed unless otherwise noted, bp is from left arm don't smoke, drink coffee, soda, alcohol or use drugs.
