616450 tn?1228433627 Folks, I talked to my endocrinologist about the way certain foods seem to affect my thyroid. She said nothing I eat can help or hurt my thyroid, but I could swear I feel it almost HURT about a half hour after I eat a lot of dairy. Also, if I eat something like Sun Chips--or any thing else with a lot of enriched wheat flour, etc.--I feel it as well along with a "pumped up" feeling. I read some about it online, but the endo claims it doesn't have much to do with my diet.

Daily replacement of thyroid hormone is required and will increase in time as the gland gradually looses its ability to produce hormone by itself. Non-autoimmune hypothyroid is just simply called hypothyroid and there are no increased antibodies directly associated with it. Its causes can be many and is not always lifelong, but usually is.
Avatar m tn Elevated liver enzymes, elevated triglycerides, low HDL, elevated uric acid, elevated ESR rate, elevated TSH are labs that can show up with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism causes many symptoms but includes high blood pressure. The elevated ESR is an inflammatory marker and may be due Hashimoto's thyroiditis (autoimmune thyroid disease).
