diet

Avatar n tn G2 has sucralose in it, and I immediately cut it out of my diet. Symptoms started tapering off after about 24 hours, and went away completely after a week. I'd recommend that if you are drinking/eating anything with sucralose and/or aspartame in it, that you do some research on the side effects of both of these products. You may also want to consult a dietician.
Avatar m tn I recently had 2 lower molar teeth removed on both sides of my mouth and have a bad history of cavities. I am currently on a soft food diet because of the extractions. Will a soft foods diet, no chewing help prevent future cavities and what are healthy soft foods I can eat that won't cause cavities.
Avatar n tn that added sugar and fat make up more than 50 percent of the typical American diet and contributes to the obesity epidemic. Craving sweets after a meal can hamper weight loss efforts. You try to deny the craving, only making it more pronounced. If you indulge the craving, stopping with a small serving may be impossible for you.
Avatar f tn I have been chewing nicotene gum for a long time-10 + years and have been getting a lot of stomach issues lately- Cramping, IBS, nausea, and I was wondering if anyone out there has had similar issues and thinks it is related to chewing nicotene gum. I read that the artificial sweeteners and flavoring that they put in the gum is not easily digested and that if used for a long period of time- 3,4 years or more you will have digestion problems. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar n tn I am healthy and have always had a good diet. About 5 months ago, I discovered chewing sugar free mint gum at night would prevent heary burn. So, sleeping with this sugar free gum in my mouth for months has poisoned my body and I broke out into a terrible rash. I went to a dermotologist. I was told I had scabies, thousands of dollars later from cleaning my house, clothes, etc... I ended back in the emergency room with this horrible rash.

Avatar f tn Is it possible to have a psychosomatic mouth problem? Recently, I've had a problem with a gum which flares up and goes a bit funny. There isn't usually any really notable pain or discomfort (although sometimes it can be and it does worry me. If pressed on hard, it can be a –little- uncomfortable, but not really any more painful than, say, any larger pressure on a normal body part would be, and certainly not severe by ANY means.
Avatar n tn People who regularly eat fish and rice have gorgeous teeth as the calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous minerals of the sea nourish tooth enamel structure, which is made of the same elements. However, add sugar sweetened treats to that fish rice diet and one gets dental decay as the rice diet is very sweet already. Although plaque bacteria are said to be the cause of decay, sugar feeds the bacteria, and the acidity of sugar dissolves the CaMgK tooth structure.
Avatar m tn The Dentist can have done the best possible job but if you haven't changed your diet then new decay can occur. Eating a lot of sugary foods and drinks and snacking between meals isn't good for your teeth. A regular brushing regime with a fluoride toothpaste is also needed. There are a lot of hidden sugars in foods. Try creating a food diary for a week and highlighting all the foods that contain sugar.

As soon as I take my gum out though, its back to the funky taste and bad breath.Could this be a result of a medicine I am taking? Coinsidentally, 2 years ago I started taking ADHD medicine which has side effects of dry mouth (leading to bad breath?). 278469 tn?1219245951 After being diagnosed with Diabetes I have become addicted to the Diet Soda, Light Yogurt, sugarless gum, etc. I am new to this (Epilepsy) forum and had never considered that this could aid in the occurance of seizures. When reading your comment I thought about the fact that I do suffer some memory loss. I have to endure the grand mal seizures and take both Depakote & Phenobarbital. My license has been revoked (Thank God) once my seizures began to occur while awake.
Avatar n tn When I eat/drink something my breath turns sour. For example, yesterday I drank diet soda and my breath was sour. And then I drank soy milk and the same happened. After I brush my teeth and used mouthwash and chewed gum, my breath was still really sour. Also I frequently have a white coating on my tongue. When I use a tongue scrapper, it never comes off all the way. I can never get rid of it 100%. Is it a medical condition I should be worried about?
Avatar n tn The short answer is no. I've spent over $1200 trying various remedies and Mastic Gum will not help. If you had H.Pylori then it may help, otherwise save your money. I have been through four bottles of Mastic Gum and it does help with GERD, but did little to get rid of the gastritis symptoms (stomach pain, bloating). I can point you in the right direction of some things that will help, so just send me a message if you want to find out some more.

Avatar m tn You're okay doing it one time. Even a couple of times. Just don't make a habit of it and you'll be fine. Try to drink diet sodas so that you can prevent cavities. Drinking with a straw also helps a little also (keeps the soda from pooling in the biting surface's pits). Chew sugar free gum after drinking soda and it will help neutralize the acid and will also kill the kind of bacteria that cause cavities.

In all liklihood you have chronic gum disease which is treated by salt-water rinses, flossing and gentle brushing with a soft toothbrush. Every so often (rare) there is infection or a blood clotting disorder, so you really need an in-person evaluation.

Avatar m tn Migraines and TMJ (arthritis in your jaw due to grinding your teeth, excess gum, ice or hard candy chewing) are two separate issues. However, if you have TMJ and it is acting up for you that can make your migraines seem worse. The website you gave did not load for me but, all you need to do is get a mouth guard from Wal-Mart or any pharmacy. Wear it when you sleep. And cut back on gum, ice and hard candy.
Avatar f tn has anyone ever heard of a connection between whatever sweeteners are used in sugarless gum, and heart palpitations? I DOOO chew a LOT of Orbit sugarless gum every day...I mean, not a crazy amount..but some days, a half a pack or so.... Anybody know? 341551 tn?1266980730 My RE told me while I was p/g with DS to stay away from mainly aspartame - it's basically cancer in a box... It's in most gum and diet soda's. In the ingredient list it will say CONTAINS then some sort of long P word which is aspartame. So, I figure if the company is warning me, then I should stay clear of it. The only gum I can find w/o it is BIG RED in the Regular packs.
